  • So sad. Living under the occupation of the Brits/the Aussies is not like living in paradise. Papua New Guenea and Iraq is another country wrecked by poverty.

May God protect East Timorese from bad things.

  • So sad yes, but life in Timor is a lot better now than under Indonesian occupation. It will take us a little while to recover from their brutal 25 years of occupation but we will get there.

  • to armin i hope u think b4 u said those comments.not every1 is fortunate as others in timor family is the most important above all.; i know how evalina felt couse my family had the same experience during the acupation n thnk god we came to australia we have a much better life as others

  • Hi I am Timorese, this is really touch. I know there are many kids in Timor out there are in the same position as Evalina. Life in East Timor is not easy, richest neighbour nations like Australia sometimes just think of themselves, & greedy. Look what have they done to this impoverished nation? Their govt's policies toward the Oil & gas resources are just ripping-off policy. However, there are still many Australians who have a great willing to help this nation to seize its future. So PLS HELP!

  • If these people can't grow food why are they having kids and putting them through this mysery? Send less food and more condoms please.

  • Hi Armin,

Fair point - and that is one solution, but is having less children really the answer? Why should these families have no right to a family whilst we have the internet, YouTube, iPhones and more food than we need?

I hope it's got you thinking...

  • Why should they have no right to a family? Because they can't feed them. People need to take responsibility for their actions and no one should be expected to take care of another persons family. I feel sorry for these children who bear the brunt of their parents' bad decisions.

  • @ highroller12208- no one is EXPECTED to take care of another person's family. If you don't want to then don't. I on the other hand want to so I will. And to only allow rich people to have children is too dangerous an idea for me to subscribe to.

  • If I had money, I'd help her too. Unfortunately I am a recently graduated college student job-hunting, completely broke and at times hungry myself...

  • I wish I could help somehow but unforunately I am poor. Even my poverty in america is on a much different scale. I have electricty, clean water and food. I feel grateful yet wish everyone could live with food, clean water and good shelter.

  • This makes me cry. I want to sell every item I own and give her the money. We are so effing selfish that we forget the needy, the people in 3rd world countires that would die to live the way we do. Thanks Worl Vision. Even though I am only 13 I always want to give when I see these.

  • we get so caught up in our lives, and this is such a good reminder

  • Bhuddha/God Bless them.. I'll pray for them

  • so sad :(

  • why is the world so unfair,

i think east timor must be one of the poorest

    places on the planet

I am lucky I stay in one of the richest countries in the world, there is no guns, low crime, i live a good life, when i see this it kind of makes me wonder what the world is all about

  • everyone should know it,
