In my opinion Sex is not how it used to be, in my perspective people are giveing the youth the wrong perspective and saying you dont need marriage to have sex just use birth control soo you dont have a commitment with children and a condom, Sex is for marriage, children and ect. Its not a game you play to see how much you can score, and Pornography has it fault too in the youth and sex also can lead into homosexuality from a study , and now now some people just looks at everybody with lust.
Nice vid, and glad you took this on. I agree that it's just overrated and blown into a proportion that society says you have to do, and that's it's natural; and if you don't agree, you're strange. There are asexual people, and I can see why. I never saw the big hype about sex. It's messy, boring, and just makes you tired. I'd rather have a beer.
@TheComputerEngineer Well thanks and I agree that it's not street makeup. As explained in my previous video I do really out there makeup because it's fun and I'm not leaving the house. Though I'm not going to go full out for every video. It should be noted I don't look like that during the day.
Firstly, I laud you for taking on this topic. There's no way I can respond properly in a 500-character comment BUT I'd love to discuss this with you on Skype some time.
Until then, I'll be looking up that documentary! It's free to watch on Vimeo, FYI (=
I believe that advertising has done *far* more damage to human sexuality than all the porn in the entire history of humanity. Not to mention. I don't think porn does harm. Advertising does.
95% of Americans have pre-marital sex. They have on average 13 partners over the course of their life. Fun facts!
Being very frank and honest, if the media hadn't of portrayed sex as a form of currency/pick-me-up/activity that is common amongst adults then I wouldn't have done it so young. As (another) of your gay subscribers rules of conduct are different here in homoland where it's only the boys making the rules, but gay sexuality here in the UK is seen as common and the act as common amongst its people, which is a shame b/c it leads to normality and presumption, and eventually boring and overrated.
I think it's all relative, just like anything anyone takes pleasure in. Some people love sex or specific forms of sex, others may hate it, many fall in between. Of course, I'm taking this all as your opinion. The hard part about this is you'll never know if it's overrated for you until you partake in it. I do agree that the media across the board hypes up sex, but it also plays on a primal urge that most people have, which is used to sell things. Ah marketing, it's how we do it.
@keeporjot Exactly this was very much an opinion and I hope I don't sound like I'm saying sex is bad because I don't think that at all. Also having just four minutes to talk I of course didn't venture into different orientations or other things people choose, it's so broad a topic. As for your point on marketing I agree, whilst it does get bashed into our heads it's not without reason.
This sure is an interesting topic, From an average straight guy's perspective they'd say "no way" but I wouldn't see myself as the average guy. In terms of media as you said with films like American Pie or Easy A which is aimed at teenagers I would say yes they would overrate sex/
I have a problem with the 'Virgin', I'm not entirely sure why I don't like. But its a weird categorisation. It's a word that makes and 'us and them' mentality. I'm not saying that's what you mean, because I know you're more respectful than that.
@creepyzebra Did you mean to say that you have a problem with the word virgin? The way you phrased this makes it sound like you have a problem with virgins. Assuming the former was your point: I have to agree to an extent, that it's a bit of a linguistic relic, in english, that we have a word to describe someone who hasn't had sex, yet no equivalent word for a person who has had sex. That kind of linguistic blind spot makes it far too easy in a culture to single people out as somehow different.
Interesting topic. I don't think sex is overrated, but then again I might feel this way because I'm male, or maybe just because I'm me. Being gay, I also don't think men are objectified enough in the media. :)
@evmoneyTV The word overrated is wrong but it was used in the question and that is why I feel the need to add at the end that this isn't everything to say on the matter. Approaching the question with the context of someone young and curious was asking I answered as such. It should be noted that I'm not saying the physical experience is hyped up when people talk about it. I really enjoy the show Sex and The City and the representation of female sexuality and don't feel they overdo the topic.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to change yourself and there is nothing wrong with wanting to remain the same.

I totally agree about society’s “inside jokes.” Besides that, there’s not much a difference between virgin and nonvirgin.

@FerreThoughts Thanks, that was ultimately the point I was trying to make.

@42DangerVision I did mean the word 'virgin', thanks for correcting XD
I do think that its a word that does single people out. Some one can be called a virgin, its as if not having had sex is a defining characteristic.
