I went to see this movie last night, and he's definately a supposed to be a Aston Martin DB5. However, he reminds of at least of three cars. The back 2/3rds are Aston DB5 and the front end could be a Ferrari 250 SWB or a even rare car called a Fiat 8V Semi Sonic of which they only built a few. The engine noise is dubbed from a Aston DB5.

If you get rid of the split in the grill, remove the air scoop on the hood, air vents on the side of the front fenders, then turn the tailights to horizontal, you have my 1970 Volvo P1800. I think the car is a bit of a composite; the front end pays homage to The Saint, and the rear end pays homage to Bond's Aston Martin. Kudos to Pixar for putting a Volvo in the film, and making Gremlins & Pacers the villians!
