This is some marvelously twisted level design. You don't see this kind of developer sadism much anymore.

Sonic games are much too easy nowadays. Just press forward and jump here and there - you're done. Worse, the constant hand-holding, hint-spewing sidekicks just serve to ensure the next generation of gamers become dumber and lazier than the last.

Let the players figure things out, people aren't retarded.
