Jared, with that last one, the photo of all sports people, I noticed that 2 of the girls are kinda leaning on each other when the others have a bit of space between then and it's pretty even spaced too, so maybe that's something to think about in terms of consistancy
@ruocaled Judging by the very narrow view of the background we can see, the photographer used a long zoom lens, maybe around 300mm? Longer zooms will also compact the depth of field. Again, the background is far away from the subject and that will make it appear more blown out.
@thwinaung123 Because simply focusing manually will/will not give you depth of field. The value of the aperture will detirmine whether you'll get depth of field or not.
@thwinaung123 See Jaredpolin's video called "Understanding Depth of Field." There are many great videos on YouTube explaining this. Focus is connected with depth of field when considering your distance from the subject, but it can seem complicated to begin with. Manual focus sets sharpness on your subject according to the distance from you - aperture controls how "deep" that focus is (among other things). It is best to watch a few vids and then try it out rather than only reading about it though
I think it is an excellent idea to limit one of the exposure settings to help us learn. shutter speed, aperture or iso. maybe even focal length and an exposure setting. Thanks Jared
@p4ko71 Shoot from further away, take off the lens hood, use a shorter lens, or use a taller aftermarket lens. There is no setting, etc. that can fix this.
Man, wish i could get out more!, Don't mean to be rude or whatever, But if some of you could check out my Flickr page and maybe drop a Opinionated comment i'd appreciate it!. flickr com(/)photos(/)upcoming-chris/, Maybe i can appear on one of these videos one day :P
great top 5 and critic i already submitted photos fpr the raw edits but now i think start with submitting photos for the weekend themes.. the ne theme sounds really cool . I hop i come with an idea for it :)
@JaredPolin Dont get me wrong....her art is great...and her photos are realy great but every time i watch this kind of video you put her photo in the top 5 (btw I never uploaded a picture for the contest so you cant tell me to do something better than her to get my photo in the top5) :D

"Squoal"? Isn't it a squirrel? Love the way Americans pronounce English words, such as mirror ("meerawr"), water (wahdurr), etc! :-)
Kilkennycat - keep shooting girl, consistently interesting photos and that's inspiring.
DaiBach99 1 month ago
for the squirrel, how do you get that amount of depth of field while shooting at F8?

im new to photography , just 1 question tho , why play around with aperture for depth of field when u can manually focus it ???
