It's your life and your body. Where does the gov't get the right to tell you what you can and can't put in your body or require you to purchase car and health insurance?
I don't agree with marijuana use, but it's a personal decision and it's your body.
For the record: I agree with the vast majority of Libertarian positions, however I don't agree with many Libertarian positions on immigration.
Just because w're already paying car insurance doesn't make it right to do it for health ins.
That's interesting. Because I had never thought of car insurance in that way. I thought it was for our own good in case we get in an accident. It is a pain having to pay for it, though.
What are your feelings about abortion? Do you think a women has a right to choose in that situation as well?
Sorry if you felt haggled by my questions. I was just trying to understand your point of view. I never looked at your channel in detail, so I didn't know you were so adamantly against Obama or particular groups of people.
I enjoy discussing things in a civil fashion and hearing other people's point of view. It's also important because I need to make a decision about who I will vote for in 2012. Until then I want to take in as much as I can so I can make a well informed decision.
Im not surprised that his position would change. Not everything someone says is set in stone. People's ideas change over time as they reconsider things and whatever. But from what I understand his rationale before was as long as people cant afford it, they shouldnt be forced to pay. Under the circumstances where people can afford it he obviously believes it makes sense to make it mandatory. He explains why in his interview with Stephanopolous. Maybe there was a problem he hadnt foreseen b 4.
Not much has changed since he criticized Clinton (and Edwards) for having plans that require it.
In addition, the Commerce Clause gives the federal gov't the authority to regulate commerce (e.g. not allowing most people to purchase health insurance across state lines) but not the authority to compel me to buy health insurance.
The reasons people can't afford it are explained in my other health care vids (# of mandates have gone up markedly, most payments are third-party or gov't etc).
"I agree with you on that, you should not be required to buy car insurance,"
You're kidding me? You really think insurance should not be mandated in any form, even if it's car insurance?
I was just using that to make a point, that we're already paying insurance.
Are you a supporter of libertarianism?
Just curious.

Hey, if you could just give me your position on abortion, that would be really cool.

I see, but then why should I be expected to pay for car insurance then. The government forces me to buy it.
I'll check out the videos you recommended. Thanks.

That's a state requiring you to purchase car insurance, not the federal gov't as far as I know.
I agree with you on that, you should not be required to buy car insurance, but if you cause a wreck you'll have to pay the consequences.
