I know FYROM stands for Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. I'll try to remember to differentiate between fyroms and Macedonians even though they are called Macedonians internationally.
Bulgaro-Macedonian is a term used to refer to the East South Slavic dialect continuum. In most sources before WWII, the dialects covered by the modern Macedonian language were referred to as Bulgarian dialects.
According to Wikipedia: "Macedonian is the official language of Republic of Macedonia and is a part of the Eastern group of South Slavic languages. Macedonian was codified in 1944, based on the Prilep-Bitola dialect. It is closely related to and shares a high degree of mutual intelligibility with the Bulgarian language and to a certain extent with the Serbo-Croatian language."
An alternative term is Bulgaroskopian. Patrick Seriot writes that, "In Greece, the Macedonians in the Republic of Macedonia are thus called «Skopians»" (Σκοπιανοί) as the Greeks assert that they have a "...kind of «copyright» on the name Macedonian". Many ethnic Macedonians do find these terms offensive. Other alternatives based on the name of the capital city include "Slav idiom of the State of Skopje"
The term Skopian, along with Skopianika, derived from the name of the capital city of the Republic of Macedonia is used by the Greek people to refer to the language.
First of all, wiki is not a fucking reliable source.
Secondly, why the fuck would the Greeks share their historical name with people who have nothing to do with real Macedonians who were Greeks? Its as if skopje changed their name into Athens and then whined why Greeks don't allow them to use the name. Get a fucking grip.
This phrase was used in print by Nicholas P. Andriotis, professor of Linguistics at the University of Thessaloniki). Chapter VI of his book, 'The Federative Republic of Skopje and its Language' (Athens, 1966), is entitled
"The impact of the Greek Language on the Slavic Dialect of the State of Skopje". His choice of descriptors for the language reflects Greek objections both to the use of the term 'Macedonian' to designate the language of the Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, and to the use of the term 'Macedonia' to designate the state. WIKI IS OK AS THE ARTICLES ARE WRITTEN BY SERIOUS AUTHORS.
....... i told you that anyone can edit the fucking wiki.
Macedonia(n) is a Greek term used to designate a Greek peoples.
but since u want a good article so badly
google "macedonia evidence" and go to the first result. its made by distinguished scholars from all over the world. theres your article now read it and dont bother me again
I know, u don't have to tell me but all these Wiki articles are verified and could be easily refuted by someone with a better knowledge of the subject. These authors are also scholars. You bother me, not vice versa !
ok then, google what i said and look carefully at the articles written by someone with a better knowledge of the subject that refute anything skopjans ever said. go right ahead
How come linguists all over the world regard the MODERN Macedonian language as one of the Slavonic languages similar to Bulgarian? So who are the present-day Macedonians descendants of with their present-day language?
OK, the last question: If contemporary Macedonians are Greeks how come they don't speak Greek? The present Macedonian language is regarded as the Slavic language.
Sorry, I mean it . You are Greek and you are the most reliable source of info on the topic. Thank you. Contemporary Macedonians must be related to Slavs unlike ancient ones. Am I right?
The fyromskis are related to slavs and they are not related to ancient Macedonians who were Greek. Fuck, im tired of saying this to you. Did you google what i told you??????
Sorry if i come a bit too rude :P. I have lost my patience with the slavic people (whom you call Macedonians and i call skopjans) who get on youtube and flaunt their retarded version of history and claim that they are descendants of the ancient Macedonians and that eg. alexander the Great was not Greek. Go to the site macedonia-evidence_._ org (delete the under scores)
@fanaber70 YES. EXACTLY. And now those people in fyrom are trying to subvert that fact and distort history to make themselves appear that they are descendants of the Macedonians and that ancient Macedonians were not Greek. They are literally stealing Greek history. Go to the site i told you, it explains everything better. :)
Thanks ever so much. We all Slavs thought so. Ancient Macedonians were Greeks like Spartans. Present-day Macedonians must be ethnically mixed with Slavs. Hence their language sounds like Slavonic now.
