When you start as Zero, X loses his Fourth Armor and Zero keeps his Z-Buster. When you start as X, is the other way around. If you don't want Zero to become a Maverick, then let him keep his Z-Buster. Also, if you want to destroy the space colony with the Enigma, keep both characters balanced and try to get all arrmor parts, items and not to waste time (hours).

You don't necessarily lose Zero after that, and you can still collect parts even after the cutscenes have passed.

It's random (and TASers say the number is decided in-stages, so reloading the save without playing in between attempts is a waste of time. I was able to do it without playing between attempts so I doubt it a bit, but then again I use the PC version).

You can increase your chances by beating a boss or bosses.

You have 18 hours to destroy the space colony known as Eurasia. You have 2 tries. You can use those whenever you want, but if you want, you have to get some parts to maximize your chance of destroying Eurasia. (Total of 4 parts for both tries) Each stage takes away an hour. And since you have 18 hours to complete 8 levels and 2 mini bosses, the task is very easy.

So no, the stages aren't timed.

No. That is a maneuver often titled "Saber-Dash Cancel". It involves slashing and dashing in a rapid succession. Each dash cancels my slash, which allows me to perform another one without any downtime. The result is what you see here.

At the time, I wasn't very good at doing that. Watch my any% run at SDA for a better success.

It can't be both speed and 100% run.. either one or the other. If it's 100% it's not a speed run.. a speed run is about clearing the game as fast as possible without getting sidetracked -- getting everything.

I'm aimed to be as fast as I could within the set rules. In this case, it requires getting all the collectables. There are usually three possible categories: low% (doesn't collect anything that isn't forced on you) any% (anything goes) and 100% (collects everything). They all aim for speed, thus they are all speed runs, with different restrictions.

Also, there are the segmented/SS and difficulty variants to spice things up. I've also done any% run of the game, which is considerably faster since I skip most of the game (Ultimate armor is collected - thus the any%)

Nope. I used a DVD-recorder with HDD. Anyway, I think Fraps is an unfitting choice for this type of game; Fraps is mainly intended for 3d-accelerated games. A program like Camtasia would probably work better for this type of game.

Its not a speed run if you continue from a save..i would not count it as one if not done by actual time

Oh, but it is. A segmented speed run, yes, but a speed run nonetheless. Whether you like single-segmented runs more than segmented is your business, of course, but hear this: due to the randomness of the game, 100% run of the game is really, really hard because you'd have to get lucky in so many places to get a decent time. Not really a project to pick up if you're going to preserve your sanity.
