Santorum doesn't want welfare programs. He says his grandfather received welfare but ultimately gave it up because he saw it was a dead end. Welfare has problems and it should be designated to the states so they can manage it better (ala Ron Paul). Imagine if Santorum's grandfather would have received effective welfare and effective programs for higher education. Then perhaps grandpappy Santorum would have run for president in his lifetime. I must say, that was an excellent debate on the part of Santorum and the interviewer. I take issue with what Santorum said about Obama's timing in taking action in Libya. Obama allowed time for Americans that were living in Libya to vacate the country. We cannot take that sort of action in a couple of day's. I have not doubt that there are many considerations that go into the timing of such action of which Santorum has no knowledge nor appreciation. The action was ultimately a success - period
