my samsung s2 320gb also has a similiar problem..i plug it in and the LED flashes and the motor or sumthing starts spinning inside and also sometimes i get the windows sound also when i plug it in but the device just wont show up in my computer..plz help asap..im desperate to get back my data and also to make this piece of shit work again..any help would be greatly appreciated!

okay I kinda thought this was a joke too until I tryed to hit it.. I had to try a couple of times, but when I tryed to hit it(gently) on the side, it worked immediatly :DD and I've got all my data! thanks!!

HAHAHA! banging it actually works! i removed the hdd from its usb cable then banged it against a softer surface, in this case, just above my knee :) banging it on the table might break it. i repeated the procedure 3x until it worked. THANKS GUYS!

OMG thanks, i just hit it against the table until it started working again. I couldn't get all my data but most of it. For some it says "cannot read from the source disc". Bad sectors or file system maybe?

i had the same problem with a Samsung G2 500gb and i tried hitting it hard against the table and it worked! i have been looking all over the internet for help and i found it on youtube :D haha thanks!

your HD is getting not enough power from the USB plug on your PC

try it on another port or on a different PC

or buy a usb boost cable

I just bought this model 2 months back. have the same sound,i need my data, it is 1 tera byte,, please help.samsung says that they can replace with new one but no data recovery,and if i de assembled it, i will lose warranty., any help please?

OMG for 2 years I had this thing in the closet not working. It was beeping too with 3 quick flashes nothing showing on the computer.

I started lightly banging it on the table & started to hear movement. I had to hit the same place a couple of more times before until it just stopped beeping & heard it again. :)

With mine I had to bang it on the side with a bit of the corner where you plug the USB. I'm guessing it took a hard knock in my bag at some point & something got stuck inside it. hxmu050da

Quite simple, plug N play device

but after all data was transfer

i cant open any data which was store in S2

only comment "you need to reformat" ; but it also means i ll lost all

the datas saved in S2

your hard drive state is either better than it was mine !

man it is simple just plug it and give it some hits against your table.. keep hitting ... and once you'll heart it turning to work.

i did it personally and it works fine .
