Well we have so many legal drugs that plain old KILL people. Killing the Cannabis plant that has something like 50,000 industrial uses is like saying that God made a mistake putting it here. And if you don't believe in God then you are still saying that nature is wrong. It cures this it cures that it alleviates this it alleviates that and what man made drug can do that. And do it without ever killing or long term disatrous affects?

The charge is total bullshit don't get me wrong, but if you are running a large scale drug operation, you have to know the risks. Though from an ethical standpoint, Marijuana offenders should have a smaller sentence than say, Heroin or Cocaine.
