great review... I'm researching which tablets mirror out to a projector, so this looks great. What about just displaying regular web browser surfing? i.e. safari? does it do this well?
I connected my Xoom to my tv through a micro HDMI plug and nothing happened the sound is coming out of the tv but the screen is black with an android on it that has 720? In a thinking bubble! Sleeplessninja please help!! Please!!!
@ryanderson72 its a combination of something I made myself using circle launcher pro, and minimalistic text, please go to my website for step by step instructions on how to customize your interface using these tools (no root required :) )
@andrewtaylor52 Unfortunately the Xoom only has video out. So the xoom itself cannot be used as a monitor for another device unless implemented on software level like iDisplay
@jraisovich if its a digital signal like HDMI DVI or Displayport, the adaptor from HDMI to any of the three should work. I tested with DVI and it worked fine. However there is no simple cable solution for analog, so like component and VGA. You would need a signal converter, a reliable one costs upwards of $100 and requires external power and allot are not that portable. For home I'm happy, unfortunately my work is in the "stoneage" with VGA projectors so its not compatible as of yet :P
Great video! Got my Xoom a few days ago and haven't put it down. May I ask, what widgets are you using for your date/time/weather? Love the minimalist look of your home screen!
@ecaggiani Minimalistic Text and Circle Launcher are the name of the widgets. They have a free version in the android app store. I go over these two apps and basic setup in a prior video. If you go to my sleeplessninja website or youtube channel its pretty easy to search for them.
great! my boss interested to buy motorola xoom when he saw my xoom that i just bought two weeks ago. but he ask me wether it can be connected to projector or not. i keep searching and found this video.
Are there any apps that don't just mirror the display? For example, viewing a powerpoint on the external display while looking at the slides w/ notes on the Xoom?
@krazycid10 For now I think there is not. I haven't seen any other option available. I think the OS just has the Mirror Out ability right now. I will update if I find anything.

Have you ever tried to connect your HDMI cord to a 360 or PS3 to play games on the Motorola Xoom?

Quick question. Do you know if you can you hook the xoom up to a device that doesn't do hdmi? Will it work using a hdmi-dvi adapter?
I found this video searching for just that, so I thought you might have gotten it to work with the projector. Great ideas for class use, by the way!
