  • Teachers should just show us these videos.

  • This Machine will kill Fascists.

  • Can you imagine a man having to go through twenty two months of a pregnant wife?... What a nightmare.

  • >Says Indus River

    >Points at Tigris/Euphrates AKA Mesopotamia

  • Please do one on the Industrial Revolution!

  • Will there be an episode on the Moguls ? Or are they the exception on that too ?

  • What?? How did Queen Elizabeth I coin DFTBA?

  • So the test is like the game? I lost the game btw

  • I think i watch these videos for the "unless you are the mongols" moments

  • The Earth would be better off if we went back to foraging. You're right that agriculture could be the wrong choice for life on Earth. It may be the beginning and end of civilization.

  • heheh... THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS.

  • Your assessment of the negative end result of argiculture is rediculous. Not only for the reason you pointed out, but also by any method in which we measure happiness. Having beautiful landscapes untouched by man is really pretty, but completely unhelpful when they _can't_ be touched by man. I care very little for places I will never go, as does the vast majority of the world. No volume of propaganda will change that fact.

  • Your globe doesn't have South Sudan.

  • Well, I know my word of the week is scoodlypoopin'. x3

  • This is amazing, and awesome computer is awesome.

  • My teacher is using these for our It's Academic! team :D

  • It's pronounced yama.

  • @MiRyRE yeh in spanish...

  • I like the warning.

  • That burger was so gross

  • i feel like when he when he went to spit that burger out he probably just finished it off :P

  • Could you put the definition of "the phrase of the week" in your description?

  • I kinda wanna go eat a cheeseburger now.

  • what about the bison in N. America? They are also bovine, and very similar to the ancestors of cows in the old world, but native Americans didn't domesticate them...

  • That is the most unappetizing cheeseburger I’ve ever seen, and come to think of it, it’s every McD’s cheeseburger I’ve ever had. Why do we eat that crap?

  • @verdigo1 because it is a miracle of human ingenuity?

  • this is awsome!

  • Re-watching all these videos from the beginning!

  • If elephants have only one offspring, how does their population grow?

  • @gabrielthemexican they have more than one offspring, just not at the same time. They have them over a period of time.

  • Why do I find this so much more fun than using two variables in linear equations for Algebra? (Hint: It's a cry for help with math)

  • First thing I did was watch these multiple times. Second thing I did was send these to MY high school history teacher, who loved them. Best thing, it's Thursday today! Excited for a new video to pull me away from work.

  • JOHN GREEN WOOOO!!!!!

  • My history teacher's name is John Green...

  • i'm the mongol lolololol

  • Elephants FTW!

  • OMG, why there is Czechoslovakia on this world map XD?

  • didn't agriculture also cause humans to be much shorter? That doesn't seem like a positive thing XD

  • yes! Thank you for pointing out the relative health of hunter-gatherers!

  • I cannot stop watching this.

  • without agriculture you don't get billions of humans :) without billions of humans, you don't get art, science, computers, satellites, moon colonies, orbital defense systems. you don't get global warming or canned dolphin you say? maybe not. but you still get chicxulub craters, dying stars, gamma ray bursts :p Although hey, maybe the dolphins would've survived the next 6 mile asteroid. then with a gamma ray burst, accelerated their brain growth allowing for an enlightened utopia ^^ or not

  • was that a woman with a beard picking berries?

  • 11:11.

  • Someone needs to make a new youtube without the government propaganda before every video, that would be swell.

  • why is so easy to pay attention to this but not in class

  • The test sounds like fun

  • @peanutcat10 it actually sucks... reallly badly.

  • Love... So much.

You're WAY better than my online course for homeschoolers.

  • These World History videos are like my Anthropology 241 class all over again.

  • I loved this so much!

  • Shit, this is great. I watched 40 seconds of this as I'm typing my comment, and I can see that I will already like this. Subbed. I hope it was worth it.

  • i still don't like cheese burgers, they taste like oily cardboard

still it's an impressive feed of human ingenuity

  • The series are incredibly great! It would be awesome if you could release them earlier :S PLEASE DO! They are so interesting and awesome and incredibly great. ( can't find other words :P )

  • i know i'm probably not the only one that says this, but you guys should do more subjects. particularly math. I'd like to see math become interesting

  • You are like the new Bill Nye

  • Hey, I'm an English teacher from Mexico, and I just wanted to let you know that I'm showing my students your video in tomorrow's class so they can practice their English while learning something new, thank you for doing things like this!

  • You can tell by his introduction that he's a writer, haha :) deep!

  • Instead of working on my essay, I am watching videos about history. I am one rebellious Asian.

  • i like skudelypooping :)

  • @crashcourse Oh, Woody Guthrie.

  • @crashcourse my teacher uses these videos in class... it kind of relates since our school is in Indianapolis and John Greene is from Indy

  • Don't you dare bring cucumbers of mustard seeds near my burger. In ANY form.

  • I think we need to reevaluate our aversion to domesticating hippos, only because the baby pygmy hippo is, you guessed it, puppy sized.

  • As a history major, this makes me very happy. Have you read the book "Guns, Germs, and Steel" by Jared Diamond?

  • @wotchersarah Hey, my western history professor discussed a part of that book with us and he recommended it too! I'm going to check that out soon :)

  • IT COULD HAVE BEEN BABAR

  • Yes, this is a great video, but I can't help, but be thrilled that it's 11:11 long.

  • @crashcourse JOHN my teacher has officially used these videos as a supplement to his teachings!!

  • @theaznpanman At first, I thought it was sad that your teacher couldn't handle this basic textbook information. Then I (sadly) realized that John Green is probably more engaging than many Social Studies teachers.

  • @theaznpanman THAT'S CHEATING!!!!!!!!!

  • @theaznpanman WTF' YOU, LUCKY BASTARD!

  • i find myself pained everytime you say 40 weeks.. much like the pain felt when you realise your mortality when you cough or become out of breath

  • America includes México, USA, Central America, South America, Canada, etc. Morom! The continent is America.

  • CGPGrey army just stoping by

  • Please stop to support meat eating, or just dont make it sound like it's something good.

The production of meat is the biggest waste of food in the world and it's bad for the environment and so many bad things are connected to eating meat.

  • This is somewhat informative. ... Unless you are the Mongols.

  • This is the coolest of things. THANKS! :D

  • You forgot about guinea pigs! They were domesticated in S. America.

  • ...grizzlys have great hearts that cant be broken....

  • You have an interesting voice.

  • This was VERY awesome! Haha was loving every minute of it. We get so bogged down in the NOW and only consider the things "relevant" what they see on tv or say make money. Yet so FEW both under various types institutions will ACTIVELY compare the NOW with the PAST and calculate what is product of the future based on these actions. Keep it coming

  • Thank you

  • Your ridiculously smart John, so what in the hell are you doing eating a 99c hamburger. I don't think the 99c burger is the best example of human advancement.

  • Somebody read Guns, Germs, and Steel.

  • I find it sad how the map at 3:12 does not include little old New Zealand, where I live. :P

  • Indeed, it was pretty hard to even domesticate the animals we have; wild pigs went around killing people, and dogs were like, wolves.

  • If I was a girl, I would say you were cute.

If I was a boy and said that, I would be gay.

  • Awesome!

  • At 11:11 I was like... Its over!? :(

  • can u use another color for the background? white burns my eyes xD

  • Bad-ass.UWRF Student Approved. 100% Ag Department Approved. Grade AAA.

  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS!

  • Love your little soliloquy at 0:13.

It's like, "In conclusion: yes, b*tch. It will"

  • He reminds me of a lot of my teachers. The best way to teach is with humor and to engage a person. Keep their attention.

  • Love your videos

  • at 1:09 - all those things were accomplished within the last 100 years.

  • how did minecraft go to this?

  • The strobing Lime green shit at 3:25 is tough as shit to watch. Please don't use it again.

  • Only 40 weeks =\

  • "And everything--everything--will be on it."

I kinda wish that was read over the PA at the start of every school day. Sums up the whole thinking-for-yourself thing better than just about anyone else I've heard.

  • 70 72.4

  • Such a white background!! But an excellent video.

  • The sticker on your laptop is AMAZING and I want one.....where'd ya get it?

  • @spleen231 Go to the awesome website which sells it! dftba.com

  • Where can I find more information about skoodili-pooping?

  • are you related to Seth green?

  • I have to say, I really appreciate the graphics and animations. Visual aid is a big deal for me, so thank you for that!

  • Epic intro.

  • 6:30 missed buffalo

  • Intro was lame, same with most of the Jokes, but still informative tkz

  • I'll be curious to see if this series can contribute in any way to an understanding of a means of avoiding what appears to be the inevitable crash, if not extinction of humans. You don't even need to study history to see that there is no system (organic or inorganic) that sustains exponential growth in the know universe with out catastrophic discontinuities if not singularities.

  • How do I know if I pass the test?

  • there is mention of a kill off of large game animals leading to agri

  • great intro ... good interesting work guys

  • At first I thought you had dirt all over your face...

But then I realized it was your facial hair.

  • i want to know ! most of the people work in agriculture , but how come the world is so short in food , we are not starving , but considering the number of chickens why are eggs so expansive ?

  • Very unfortunate we are. Especially our kids who will be through age of madness have to survive and be a witness. Around 2050 is the year of madness. Every imaginable collapse will happen the same time all over the world. Food supply, water shortage, massive immigration, energy crisis, every country down to human beings will be like mad.

  • 7:33 Illuminati.

  • love this!

  • Loving this so much knowing that it pertains to WHAP and it's a nice review for the test coming up in a few months..

  • Great work! I will be sharing this.

  • I just started the video and paused at 00:51. I had to comment and say wow, I wish more people were saying what just came out of your mouth. I know the rest of this is going to be good.

  • I kinda want a double cheese burger now

  • I loved this video!! It makes me want to learn more about world history

  • wow who looks up this shit i got here from listening to letter to my son the song wack as fuck

  • @bigdaddy16324 who did what know?

  • I don't know why they have to make school so boring. I love to learn, and the world is so interesting! I wish you were my teacher.

  • 64 people aren't Mongolian.

  • I just had a staring competition with John Green. Fuqyeh.

  • I don't think I've ever seen a more disgusting looking cheeseburger...

  • I wonder if the environmental effects that came about by the production of technology was worth mentioning. I'm also curious as to how eco-friendly his throne is.

  • What town says "Don't forget to be awesome!?" I wanna live there.......

  • I rode a gang plow...same old song and dance....cities needing food and shelter from the rural labor!

  • when he talks about "the test" at the begining of this episode it reminds me of when hazel talks about augustus's fear of oblivion at the begining of TFiOS

  • Great programming!

  • Lets work together.

This is brilliant. I love what you are doing here. I have degrees in microbiology, chemistry, history and genetics, masters in chem and working in a phd in microbio, but building a mass spect imaging system in order to do so. I cried at the hydrophobic jesus remark you made in the other video. How can I help? I am big believer in education, but always with a twist. I actually miss being a TA. this ID at gmail. lets talk.

  • Excellent - now that's a history lesson! I like how you add humor to normally boring history to make it more entertaining for the average viewer.

  • Sweet. Just talking about how food taste/choice correlates with gender and how that started with hunter/gatherers. Hopes this adds something good to my essay!

  • Best. Intro. Ever. Makes me want to learn. LETS DO THIS!

  • If you would like a short way to literaly play with these ideas, I recommend the surprisingly fun Yahtzee-style, push-your-luck, civilization building dice game, Roll Through the Ages by Matt Leacock(there's also an iPod version).

While there are other civilization building board (and video) games, Roll Through the Ages is easy to play in a short amount of time; meaning you can try lots of different strategies. Should you hold off on cities and focus on agriculture? It's up to you.

  • I like the alcohol idea

  • So if I earn minimum wage, I can get 1 cheeseburger per 11 minutes? *drools*

  • @FlamingCrows59 Nope, if you earn minimum wage, you can get 1 DOUBLE cheeseburger every 11 minutes... :D

  • I have heard ideas that suggest that the genesis account of the expulsion from Eden was actually an allegory for the agricultural revolution. Is this a possible parallel or is it just considered to be religious pandering to archeological conceptions of prehistoric humanity?

  • fascinating!

  • Double cheeseburgers cost $2 in Australia :(

  • I think that agriculture started right after human kind discovered marihuana. I mean, the munchies could have been the perfect reason to start agriculture. :D

  • This machine kills fascists

  • wow something on youtube aimed to make you smarter

  • Great job :D XD So glad I finally got to watch this!!!! :D XD

  • this series reminds me of when Bill Nye was on TV. i was about ten years old. its engaging and really makes me want to learn more.

  • very nice...

  • This series looks like it can go somewhere. Unless you are the Mongols.

  • historically, darwin was considered a terrible scientist. in his day i mean. by his peers. yeah, i'm gonna get a LOT of crap for this comment. so be it.

  • 6:10 "This machine kills fascists." LMFAO!

  • i'm trying to get my world history teacher to show these in class ^_^

  • Thanks a bundle. This stuff is great. Hopefully, it can help us move the world into a positive direction.

  • Who makes the illustrations for crash course?

  • I've gotta say, I hope your strategy at the beginning of telling people exactly why history is important isn't copyrighted cuz after I get my teaching degree, I'm usin' it :)

    Thanks!
