  • Such a beautiful, loving memorial for Ned. I am crying as I type this. Your description of his physical condition when he came to the Sanctuary shows the extremely high level of stress he endured every day of his life until he came to you. Only a sad example of a human being could have done this to Ned. Thank you for your loving care of Ned. If you couldn't save him, no one could. At least he knew real love and caring before he went home to the Rainbow Bridge

  • Tears couldn stop seeing Ned boy shrinked to bone frm his sickness and his sickness is frm the long term abusing from our own humans. Is there nothing else that dos humans can do except to mis-treat abuse exploit these beautiful loyal sweet gifts from our holy God that created them to live in same earth breathing the same air walking the same Path?? How would you feels if you were being treated dis way?? PLS THINK, God gave u brain to think, sense to feel pain, a heart to love, not to do evils.

  • rip ned

  • Res in love gentle giant

  • Did he ever get to interact with the girls? How did they react to him? thanks

  • @megaelectrolyte Because Ned was in quarantine undergoing diagnosis and treatment for his health ailments, he and our other female resident elephants did not get a chance to interact, although they could see and hear one another from adjacent yards.

  • stress and ulcers killed this poor elephant! end circuses and animal abuse NOW! Don't go to animal circuses! Ned was an angel.

    Rest in peace, darling!

  • I feel really sorry for ben. rest in peace ben.

  • The cruelty of man shames me sometimes.

  • unbearably sad. I am so sorry.

  • god bless the animal kingdom including elephants

  • I do not understand how anyone could be cruel to such gentle and magnificent beings. At times I am profoundly ashamed of my own species. We should be learning from elephants rather than exploiting them for profit. At least a few people have endeavored to offer some of them a better place to live out their days.

  • RIP Ned, you were such a cutie, and so sweet and grateful for the care you received at the sanctuary. You tried to hard to make it, but at least you won't suffer anymore. God bless Carol and Scott and all their staff and volunteers!

  • So so sad, that really made me cry, at least his last days where spent in comfort and kindness .Thank you.

  • Ned,I cant belive that you passed away you are so cute and pritty! I feel so sad for you passing away!-Lay in elephant heaven with god and he will take care of you!

  • Ned I miss you so much and looking into your eyes is like looking at some high high entity behind them ...I'm so sorry for your suffering at the hands of a such a low life that had no concern for your well-being...you will be in my heart and soul forever

  • I still miss you so very much my dear sweet boy.

  • I love and miss you, Ned. Say Hi to Bunny and the others. RIP

  • Namaste precious angel. You lived in paradise the few months of your life. and god bless Carol and Scott and the rest of the staff for taking him in.

  • You folks are doing great work, well done. Circuses really need to be stopped.

  • Thank you TES, for honoring Neddie with his own memorial! It is beautiful, just like he was.

  • We love you Ned. I am so sorry that we could not rescue you in time to save your life. My heart breaks for you <3. Rest in peace sweet boy!!! Thank you TES xoxo

  • well its nice to see that he spent his last few months in a happy place :)

but its sad that that was all the happiness he got:(

  • Beautiful gentle Ned.

  • I'm sorry for his suffering and for your sadness at not being able to save him.

As you have said in other cases, when it is time for an elephant to go, it will go. All that people can do is to provide the best and most loving care while they are here.

  • Rest in peace!!!

  • oh you guys! that poor baby ! so emaciated! but you can see some luster come back to him in those last pictures even though it was obvious he was patiently dying. God bless yall for helping him! people can be so cruel, but you're big hearted and he knew it. I hope the necropsy results might help you to treat others like him in future. He has freedom now. I'm proud to support you.

  • Rest in peace Ned!

  • Never mind, you tried your very best to make Ned better, it wasn't your fault. Ned loved you for it and is now looking down at you from heaven. Don't fret, Ned is well now. Thank you for doing such a wonderful job.

  • :'( He passed with dignity. Thank you.

  • WE ALL LOVED YOU SO SO MUCH - and that love spans eternity

  • What you have done for this animal is enormous. He knew it and appreciated it. I'm going to your site now to donate in his honor. Thank you for all you do.

  • the softest eyes...after all he suffered.

  • God bless you for loving this sweet boy while he was with you, and Godspeed Ned. ~NAncy
