From what I've seen, I love the ambience of this version, add a few infected people and it would be great! This is more to do with ghosts/spiritual. The screen goes slightly blue when Leons having a confrontation with something....Still I do like it.

i can see how this became devil may cry, by some of the aspects. dark rooms with creepy creatures like the dolls that remind me of the witches with the giant scissors, or the puppets with the knives. Also in the room there is some sort of force blocking the door til you kill all the enemies; DMC. I am glad they scrapped this coz they made DMC and I love those games. And RE4 is brilliant, but I would still love to play this original version of RE it looks wicked!

@evilvixen05 that's what I was thinking, the whole ghost thing make it look like fatal frame. Although I think they should have kept the eery atmosphere of this game instead of doing away with it and going for an action game. To their credit there were some creepy moments in RE4. The regenerators were scary and those cloaked monks you fight in the Salazar mantion are really scary as well. But, had they released this game ( with few modifications) they would have nailed it.

@mralanv I know, that was one thing that should've been kept. I love the RE4 we have now, yes should've been more scary, but I liked the 'fresh' way of doing it, it had a balance of tense fighting while scaring the crap out of you. RE5 was just far too the same and more action oriented than horror, I wasn't scared in RE5, had surprise moments but not the, "Holy shit I'm gonna die!" With RE6 now, I've given up on it, more action to COD than RE... Like it should be. It's RE for christ's sake.

They should have kept this version instead of the other Resident Evil 4. All they had to do was change the ghosts into zombies. Not make it an all action game. That one game ended the entire survivor horror genre. I hope Capcom will go back to it's roots.

Creepy as hell. Capcom is notorious for developing ideas for Resident Evil games, only to scrap them entirely and start over from scratch. Resident Evil 1.5 and Resident Evil Zero (for the N64). Resident Evil 4 had two developmental stages before the actual game was released. The first one was scrapped and eventually turned into Devil May Cry, and the second one is shown in this video, but never turned into a game. They could use a lot of these ideas.

Gamecube was proper decent for it's time. When used properly the graphics were just incredible. Shame the Wii is suffering from very very lazy development. :(. If it wasn't suffering from this then most of the mockery towards the system's capabilities would be less harsh, and I'd be happier because there's no reason the Wii should have very few decent looking games when it's even more capable than the Gamecube.

I just noticed the big gameplay element. The light makes the ghosts "real" so they can be harmed. Get them into the flashes of lightning of flash grenade to expose their weakness. This would have rocked.

This is such a small insight in to a game that was nearing complettion, I can only imagine this version was so much better than the (amazing) one we got.

@wolfking313 Sure it's scarier, but as an RE game, this version fails. Haunted houses, dolls that come to life, ghostly entities; these are the exact opposite of what Resident Evil represents. The horror of Resident Evil lies in the fact that all the zombies, tyrants and monsters the heroes face aren't the minions of some demonic being, but rather, the inventions of their own fellow man--the idea that human beings are capable of creating such terrible things is at the core of RE's scare factor.

they tried making an updated view of what was the original resident evils but they failed and the story doesnt seem pretty good so they went with the resident evil 4 that we know and play today but when you aimed it still was the laser pointer sometimes and they still had danger and caution shown in the gameplay which is the health from the original resident evils
