Good chance that the piece was originally conceived for baroque lute. Early (pre-Couperin family) French keyboard music was very much a rip-off from the lute repertoire.
I want to ask - I want to buy a cd with music by Weiss. As I can see, all of them are recorded by Robert Barto. Is he good, or can another recording be recommended?
And also thanks for the tribute to Claire Antonini. I was saturday night at a recital she gave, It was a moment of grace, delight and great inspired music...

Very excellent playing. Please keep the name, "Sarabande by de Chambonnieres by Kidney Kutter" is just too good.

For my taste, Barto has the best Weiss. There are good recordings by Lindberg and North as well.

Bravo.

Please record a high fidelity CD. Your interpretations are a step up from Robert Barto's which is saying a lot.

I hope that "Claire" plays with as much expressive focus as you do.I rather doubt it though.
