  • FRANCE AND UK RULE FOR EVER!

  • So awesome!

  • Interesting video, though it's clearly not all of the same train. The ariel shots include footage of a different train.

  • @landl47 How can you be so sure?

  • Must have passe through the lille loophole

  • This will be Amtrak in the year 2109

  • @howardkevinm lol

  • @howardkevinm not unless the US is bankrupt by then and can't afford anything other then horses and carriages. :p

  • @businessbuilding1 oh ya i know that totally.

  • A tremendous engineering achievement... Congratulations SNCF, BR and especially Alstom and EuroTunnel!

  • I was just on one of these trains in March for a school trip between London and Paris. It was my first ever time on a train and it was amazing, it was so smooth and so fast, if i ever go to Europe again i will be riding the Eurostar! :)

  • Cracking video. Any particular reason as to why the Kent section comes after the Essex section, through Purfleet & Rainham.?

  • HS2 next london to birmingham

  • If only we could go that first in the whole of britain :/

  • lol in Norway we are soo long behind when it comes to this....and infrastructure in general....

  • about 450 km long track - it's more than 7 hours in fucking Poland

  • ...............or 9 hours in Australia!

  • Ughh America is behind. I'm ashamed. :)

  • @refresh967 ... I rode eurostar in 2000 from london to paris

but don't feel bad because Obamas releasing the funds to

begin our high speed networks, it takes time. But it will be

    impressive no doubt.

  • @refresh967 The distances and population density in most of the US make intercity HSTs very difficult to argue for and build...

  • Wow listen to those wild train spotters having a wee rave at the end :L

  • I remember when I used Eurostar, it was a great experiance, I never knew 186mph was so fast.

  • I love the way the French end of the Channel tunnel has a round portal and the English end has a square one. I'll bet there were arguments about that when they were building it!

  • the clock is so kool

  • 9 jealous Americans watched this video ;)

  • Yes, all very nice - but I can't help wondering how many survivors there would be if this thing came off the road.

  • I think the Eurostar is such a pretty train - great footage of it passing by Queen Elizabeth II Bridge!

  • Lovely train to ride in. So smooth and fast.

  • What's the Top Speed on the EuroStar? AmTrak could use something like this.

  • I'm still waiting for comprehensive high speed train service in North America.

  • Nice bit of filming, but I bet the passengers were all over the place in that bumpy and poorly designed thing. The (now rather old) TGV is vastly superior in every respect. Try one and see.

  • This video is slightly misleading. The video shows the train going into the euro tunnel french side, it then shows the train exiting a tunnel. but it is not the euro tunnel on the coast of kent. The tunnel you see the train exiting is the dartford crossing about 60 miles from where the train would enter the uk. the video should have shown the record breaking trip as the train exited France and entered the UK. just a small niggle. but this new highspeed line is great to travel all.

  • Is that particular tunnel (Between Ontario and Michigan) beneath a mass of water?

  • yes

  • the high speed rail is at platform 9/3/4 :P

  • look at all of this hatefulness. this is why the world is going to end. no love or respect for anyone. =/

  • Seriously. I came here to watch a cool train video, not to see people cuss each other out. We're all human here. Be cool.

  • ok ok but you tube is for conspiracy theorists and nut jobs so tell me are the delays today really because of a temperature differential between the inside of the tunnel and the outside or is it because of the strike? news management?

  • Most helicopters are pushed to go faster than 150 mph.Did you see the free champagne for passengers! Its a real shame they treat their cleaners like slaves and pay them £7 pounds an hour

  • @A503B201 your a little racist cunt and you should not be the same level as any one black people and packistanis are humans just like me and you they should be treated not different fuck off with your racist comments

  • Bloody hell, the helicopter can't keep up. Can't believe how long it is. I heard it is a quater of a mile. Is that true?

  • Yes it is (0.245 miles or 431 yard to be exact.)

  • Or 394 meters for those who understand metric.

  • I love Amtrak, but nothing compares to Eurostar. It was the greatest train experience of my life. It was so smooth and fast that it didn't even seem like a train. The First Class food and service was incredible. London to Paris, then Paris to London a month later. We will return...

  • @qe2qm2tandem Aht hats awesome! Although London to Paris is just 2 hours so wont need much

  • Is it just me or Does anyone else love clocks in stations, the loco itself is very nice and all, but for me i think they are ugly. doesn't mean that everyone has to think that, obviously you might not think this. I bet one of these really stupid people will go " oh look he thinks they are ugly " and put a thumbs down. i don't care

  • omg you think there ugly jj

  • yes

  • Heres a link to the map of the high speed rail system in Europe - interesting to note how the infrastructure is so much less developed in Eastern Europe. The legacy of all those years of communism

  • god damn you're stupid shut up..England has the oldest railway system in the world and the most hi tech trains apart from Germany and Japan and where in america does any tunnel exist that links one nation to another Eurostar is the best in the world linking an entire continent

  • re: Ourumov66, "where in america does any tunnel exist that links one nation to another...": there has been a rail tunnel between Ontario and Michigan for over 100 years.

  • that would be states though. but cool anyway i didnt know that

  • re: FeigningPatriot, "that would be states though." I think many Canadians would be very upset to learn that Ontario had become part of the United States.

re: NeoFalcon69, the Michigan Central Tunnel runs under the Detroit River and the St. Clair Tunnel runs beneath the St. Clair River. Both rivers are part of the body of water that connects Lake Huron to Lake Erie.

  • OMG you are funny.

We have the oldest system in the world here in the UK, although not the fastest (that is France for conventional rail) . However all our passenger trains regularly exceed 40MPH, most do at least 90, and some do 125. Some of our trains are 140 mph capable. Most of our freight, goes at 75mph...

The greatest railways in the world belong to France, Japan and Germany!

  • where are the skyscrapers at the background of 4:36?

  • London Docklands (including Canary Wharf)

  • @StephenETavington They are the skyscrapers in Canary Wharf, London

  • Yaaaay ill be on that in a week :D

Going on an trip to Paris for 3 days, with my College Art class ( :

  • I'm travelling on my first eurostar on Tuesday , I'm very excited !!! £59 return

  • The train almost goes as fast as an INDYCAR!!!!!!!!

  • damn i didnt know they were this fast these days.. if it weren't so damn expensive i'd consider shopping days to paris lol

  • If you book in advance you can get it for around £60 return.

  • We could have this in the US, but of course it requires government spending for infrastructure--can't have that!

So instead we go everywhere on planes, which we always deem prey to terrorist explosions.

  • The US is much more spread out which makes it harder. Either way we should still have regional things like this.

  • That comment about the US being more spread out is something I hadn't thought of!

Also, believe it or not, I heard on NPR that the US government is asking train companies for proposals for trains like this here!

But since it's from the Bush Gang it may be a trick designed to destroy publicly-funded trains, i.e., Amtrak.

  • Of course... Planes are much faster than Amtrak. There were some plans for maglev in the US but were dropped due to high cost.

  • The record spped for a TGV (the train the Eurostar is based on) is 357 mph, which is faster than most turbo-prop planes

  • i recently took a eurostar train from london - paris and was amazed at high speed 1 done the trip a few times from waterloo but what a difference it makes from st pancras. about 30/20 minutes from paris you go thro this french station which is really really dark and looks like a metro station anyone know the name of this station????

  • It's Lille international station, the station for Lille, a city of about 1 million inhabitants in the North of France, and I am from there too!!!

  • we went on Eurostar from paris to london and back, but it got a little boring under the channel :D

  • What a wasted opportunity! Lots of what should have been imoressive footage through the windscreen was excessively overexposed - then the arial footage (probably not of his journey seemed to sho the train passing the dartford riber crossing on its way to Paris not london - and was wierdly silent - no music, no commentary. Apaert from this it was quite good...

  • Your wrong. The train is travelling towards London in that image.

However, why did they jump from going into the Chunnel to coming out of the Dartford tunnel?

  • Try listening to U2 "Beautiful Day" to this. It was surely for France and UK when this started.

  • I am pretty sure that in order to go from Paris to London, you need to go under water, or at least across the English Channel.

  • Ya think???? What ya suppose that tunnel in the middle of the clip was all about?

  • Naaah !!!

    u dnt say LOL

  • Wich is the trumpets song in St Pancras when the train is arrived?

  • how much did this trip cost

  • Great video, especially the aerial camera shots. Paris is certainly highly industrialised and not much wide open spaces there. I took a moped from Calais to Paris in 1970...would like to return and take this train...

    Vancouver, Canada.

  • just need to build HS2: St Pancreas-Sheffield-Manchester (via woodhead tunnel)

HS3, HS4, etc and make sure no corrupt officials named grandson of Beeching get their greedy little hands on it!!

  • Yes, It needs to be at least Berne Gauge: Possibly allowing double stacking of containers!

  • I love travelling on the Eurostar trains - get on at St Pancras in London and get off at La Gare du Nord in Paris just over 2 hours later and in reverse coming back.

  • That brings back memories. I was on duty in the I.E.C.C that day and I remember all the top bods watching its progress and making sure it didn't get held up!

  • Good vid apart from it coming out of Dartford Tunnel instead of THE Channel Tunnel as someone has already mentioned.

  • I just love the noise of the brakes as the train sets off. so nice 8-)

  • Interesting video. If this is the official video, it has terrible out-of-sequence video editing, as bad as the BBC.

If only Eurostar PR department stopped thinking they are such a special service, especially when compared to superior Thalys / TGV / ICE PR who let you do decent filming and without the Eurostar "we're better than you" attitude.

  • For long the rails on the english side have been in an awful quality compared to those on the mainland side. From this video I can tell they did invested money in the Eurostar after all.

  • HI, I'm a bit claustrofobic, how does it feel entering the tunnel, i'm scared!!

  • You Don't feel anything, it's really dark, all you see out of the window is the lights on the wall passing at high speed.

  • Thank god for that, I've been nervous about going on it even though its something I want to do.

  • lol, the smooth ride will blow you away so much, that when it comes to the tunnel, if you're still a bit scared, then you can close your eyes and all you will hear is a slight change in noise.

  • im confused, it goes into the Eurotunnel at 3:20, is that the French side coz it does look alot like the English side, and when it comes out it looks like its coming out in Dartford, when it actually comes out at Cheriton in Folkestone....

  • The song Be Mine - Robyn goes well with this video for some reason :)

    Good video!

  • You should actually try Don't Feel the Reaper (Blue Oyster Cult). Trust me!

  • Don't fear the reaper

  • such an elegant train. the lights were flashing upon arrival, just looks so posh.

  • Agreed. Tis a beautiful piece of engineering =)

  • does the eurostar class 373 tilt to accomodate its high speed?

  • No, just gently curved lines and lots of cant on the rails.

  • But what an interesting thought! Wouldn't it be nice if the Eurostar train was designed to tilt for a possibly running speed of up to 200MPH.

  • thnx for the upload :)

I vote next tunnel goes from UK - Denmark :)

  • at 3:34 when the eurostar is about to exit the channel tunnel on the uk side it show the open of the tunnel opening of the eastbound tunnel

  • How odd. The Eurostar enters the tunnel in France at the channel, and exits in England over 50 miles inland at the M25 in Essex. WOW that is some tunnel!! Very nice video none the less.

  • This is great. The gang in Washington is about 100 years behind the times. THANK YOU

  • Very cool!

    Watch my videos from Israel.

    Thank you!

  • How many miles is this trip? On a map it dosen't look that far

  • as the crow flies about 211 miles but by Eurostar its 307 miles.

the new eurostar can do London to Paris in 2hours 15mins

  • Thanks - that's what we need in North America, a good rail service, they know how to move freight but it's really bad for passenger service

  • It cuts from entering the channel tunnel, to exiting from under the thames by the QE2 bridge.

  • And then goes back to a shot from inside the cab somewhere in kent, the back to essex, then London!

  • Very proud moment.

  • It's about damn time.
