  • are bicyclists allowed to use only this bike path, or can they use the road too?

  • @czech27 the Dutch never ask this question. Why would you want to? It is much better on the cycle path. But the answer is no; you cannot ride on the road next to a mandatory cycle path.

  • @markenlei And what if you wanted eg. to turn into a property that's on the other side of the road while being on the cycle path separated by kerb? Or on a roundabout, what if you wanted to turn to a road (to a village nearby) without cycle path/lane? I ask because it is a typical feature of the design of cycle path here in CZ, that directions previously accessible by bike (using the road) are inaccessible or only illegally after the cycle path has been built (not talking about tunnels/freeways)

  • @jpal00 if you need to be on the other side of the road then you just cross the street to that property. If that is impossible you just go to the next junction, cross there and go back. Turning into minor streets without cycle paths from streets with cycle paths is explained in a separate video. Then you simply leave the cycle path and continue on the main carriage way.

  • Awesome awesome! I love the demonstrations of intersections since that is where a lot of backlash against cycle paths exist here in US. Thank you markenlei!
