sooo true. still i consider there to be a huge difference between the proto punk bands and the ramones. but if u wanna keep going back in time type in jeffrey lewis anti folk history. i just consider the ramones a breaking point. and ya fuck that whole who started punk thing but we all have our opinions. endless vacation is my favorite as well, and thats WAY post i wanna be sedated.

@braincellgenocide look man the adicts are one of my favorite bands, they have their tunes and so do the ramones(another one of my favorite bands). california by the adicts is a great song, california sun its just my preference. and the adicts would probably be really pissed if you told them that their cover is better. the ramones blazed the trail for punk to follow, so like em or hate em, but they are what they are.
@AtheistAnarchoRudi I totally get that and the Ramones did do a lot for punk rock, but to call them the originals is to ignore Johnny thunders and the Heartbreakers, Iggy Pop and the Stooges, RIchard Hell and the Voidoids, and a million 60's bands that were directly emulated by 70's "punk" bands that originally just called themselves rock n roll bands in the first place. Listen to the Pretty Things song Defecting Grey. I know it starts out psychedelic, but that shit gets so raw and fast...

I f you can find the studio version of Alexander by The Pretty Things that will show you a lot too. Most of those bands were trying to be The Kinks as well. Ray Davies is like one of the original punks not only in my mind, but surely in the mind of even the members of the Ramones. I don't hate the ramones, I just think people take...
