I remember staying up till midnight in my holiday bedroom in Scarborough, listening to the close-down. I made a note of the closing tracks and dialogue and I still have that scribbled note. It gives the play order as 'The Sun Aint Gonna Shine Any More' / 270 Station ID / 'Radio 270 will now be closing down' / Rule Britannia / 'Radio 270 is now closing down' / National Anthem / silence. It could be wrong - I was just 12 at the time.
Hi, I know just what your saying, unfortunatly the music audio quality on my tape recorded live at the time of the close down was very crackely and I felt to do justice to the video adding digitaly enhanced versions of Land of open glory and national anthem just added extra poinancy to last five minutes of broadcasts from this fine station which I loved so much, the recorder I used at the time was only a small 3.5" spool to spool and I have always regreted not having something better at the time
Such a shame that "Land of Hope & Glory", The National Anthem and a test tone hetrodyne have been added instead of leaving the original recording as it was....This has spoiled what is a classic piece of pirate radio history

Thanks to everyone for your comments, I also remember well that last hour of broadcasting from Radio 270 like it was yesterday, glad you all enjoyed my contribution to the memory of the station Radio 270 and ship Oceann 7.
Oh yes! What a memory jerker. I was back there in my front room in Bridlington listening to that broadcast once again, even if it was only in my mind. What a great era it was and I'm so glad I was there to enjoy it. Fab-u-lous!
Very good I do remember very well Radio 270 & I heard them go off the air back in 1967 & feeling gutted the next day when here in yorkshire we only had Caroline North but the signal was poor in the day had to wait while night time to hear Caroline South better great days. Thanks

Hearing this brought back a lot of happy, AND sad memories. I was a 14year-old broken-hearted teenager that night. Thanks for sharing.
