Unfortunately for whoever is misguided enough to break into my house, I don't really need a gun to 'defend myself', I am more than happy to set my dogs on whoever enters it illegally, and then am more than happy to 'defend myself' further, by slapping some shush into their heads. Believe me, we never have had guns in England, we don't need them to 'defend ourselves'/
The only gun you can own in england I guess, the only thing you have to defend yourself against when criminals with modern weapons break into your home.
Until recently, it was against the law to even defend yourself. If somebody broke into your house and you attacked them, YOU would be prosecuted. Homeowners were more frequently prosecuted than criminals. In some parts of the country, judges had a policy of not jailing burglars. You can now tackle somebody but you cannot do it if they are attempting escape, i.e if their running away. It's insanity.
BTW, if somebody breaks into my house, somebody is going to die. And its not going to be me.
My stepdads brother has a jewellry business in Central London and he has acid vats on the premises for cleaning purposes. He had an inspection by the council and was told that he had to move the acid vats from underneath a skylight. The reason was that if anybody tried to break into the building, they would fall into the acid vats and hurt themselves! Isn't that just the most insane thing you've ever heard? But it's not an isolated case. Thats the way the police/courts/judges think over here.
i want one ^^
