A380 is a new kid on the block, so no doubt its center of attention these days!
747 on the other hand looks like a rather mature guy; but its been tested/proven through the last 4 decades, flown by every major airlines throughout the world; it has kept the best safety record in air travel history; been through mid-air explosion, and even flew up side down once!
@prohelipilot1 I never said i was a pilot ??? My uncle is, not that he told me that statement, I just thought of it it myself. If you're a pilot, I do apologise. TINY e.g. Boeing aircraft has a yoke/control colum, and does not have that fly-by wire system. Whenever I carefully look at pilots which flly Boeing aircraft, as they do a turn/bank, they always have to pull up quite a bit to compensate for the side slipping force. but in an Airbus, the elevators automatically come up without any input.
@RZ3296 Yes but what you say aout the elevators is called elevons and they are built into the system Boeing has used that setup in the past as well, what I am saying is that it takes a high degree of skill to pilot any of them, I fly helicopters which require both your feet and both your hand at all times. I have however spent about 4 hrs in a Boeing 737-400 simulator ( anyone can rent simulator time here in Toronto ) and I find it quite challenging
Awesome spot for planespotting. Imagine the people loving in those houses, I wouldnt want to live there, more than a day that is, that too for the planes :D
Though I am German, I have to say that the 747 looks more elegant. But the rather thickset look of the A380 is not a result of bad taste of the designers, but a result of the targets: To handle a plane on airports, the wingspan and body length must not exceed a certain limit, I guess it's 80m. So any plane that transports more passengers than the 747 will get a rather clunky look. Given that the A380 can transport up to 880 people, they did a rather good job. A longer version will come soon.
@Jyrki1964 i live 3 blocks from the runway at my neareast airport haha it is noisy but when your inside you dont hear anythig my house is specially made to block the noise also air traffic control makes planes land and take off at another runway at night facing the wood area not residential :P
@Xylugan2010 Not neccesarily.. the A380 may have been quiet in this video because it may have been using a lower thrust setting on approach than the 747. @akierrs2 well boeing had originally designed the 747 as a superjumbo but for some reason never realeased it as a superjumbo otherwise boeing would have already beaten airbus. in my opinion they already have in terms of technology in its new 787 dreamliner.
@guitarplayerforu Agree, but the 787 has now 3 years of delay and the A380 a year and the A380 is the world's biggest and te 787 isn't. So you can say Airbus beats Boeing, but Airbus needs to sell 400 A38'0's to get out of al those costs. And maybe the A350 is as well dream as the 787 we will see

Boeing Y2 is Boeing 787 but i didn't knew Boeing Y3 is a new superjumbo, but when I hear you saying this, i'm scared for the future of the A380! But I think Boeing needs to watch for the A350
@guitarplayerforu Debatable if the 787 beats the A380 in terms of technology. Just because Boeing have put a fancy name on the end of it (the dream Liner) proves nothing. Do you really think people can be as excited about a new mid-sized airplane comming on the market as a plane which is far bigger than anything that went before and the worlds first double decker passanger airplane. Also the A350 may yet prove to be a better plane than the 787.
@whitireia boeing designed shower that soaps washes dries without the need of towels.
747-8 use GEnx-2B engines what cleaner than trent 900's or GP7200'S. new plane, cos 787 technologies, fuselage stretched to hold 467 passengers. 747-8 Intercontinental is more than 10 percent lighter per seat than the Airbus A380 and consumes 11 percent less fuel per passenger. That translates into a trip-cost reduction of 21 percent and a seat-mile cost reduction of more than 6 percent compared to the A380.
@DIMATIF totally agree, cant wait to see the 747-8 intercontinental flying around in 2014 or 2015. what would be good is if they releasd the new 787 and 747 together. the new 747 is basically a new plane, its shares almost all the 787 technologies, only thing it doesn't share it its fuselage, its the original 747 fuselage stretched to hold 467 passengers, it has the 787's GEnx-2B engines, 787 wings, 787 flight deck, 787 interior, possibly a shower*, fly by wire from the 787 and more 787 tech.
@Tunak11 Why is it the best? The best in a waste of money? the fact thats its overpriced? The fact that airbus uses unfair subsidies to stay in business? right.... If it werent for Boeing, your little A380 wouldnt even be here in the first place, fanboy.
@WiiForever302 How is it overpriced? the price was really fair and affordable i flew from YYZ(Pearson Int Airport Canada) to DXB(Dubai Int) in first class and i wish to go back because it was so good... well until you go on one you wont find the difference. The truth is Airbus had built their dream machine and Boeing cannot compete anymore... even though they are trying soo hard...
@Tunak11 Trying so hard? Airbus is trying so hard to even stay in the market. Theyre using goverment subsidies for crying out oud. Boeing's 787 made their maiden flight, and is fuel efficent. The 787 is 77% operating capacity while A380 is 88%, making Boeing safer when an engine faiure occurs. BTW, A380 already had engine failures while 787 is coming alive lmao
@Tunak11 And i could care less about first class, you can afford a hotel room for as long as you want, not the end of the flight. And you do know Boeing was around during the start of the aviation age... But one plane will always be better than A380, that russian AN
@WiiForever302 obviously i know that boeing was around during the start and i dont even know why you think airbus is overpriced... and i couldnt care less about arguing with you about this stupid topic what is better "airbus or being" and Airbus A380 wins over 747 but all the other airbus planes are bad compared to other boeing planes to get this staright i just want to say A380 is better than Boeing NOT AIRBUS BETTER THAN BOEING...
@Tunak11 boeing can't compete! dont make me laugh, boeing are doing better than airbus with their 787 dreamoiner alone, 850 odd orders at first maiden flight and its keeping on rising the orders for that aircraft. boeing are planning on after making the 747-8I not doing another 747 or giving it a complet redesign to be a full double decker airplane. probably a double decker 787 dreamliner, i would love that.
Americans knocking the A380 are delusional,747 great plane but now superceded by A380.50% more floor space, uses less fuel despite being far bigger, larger seats, bigger storage compartments for passengers, higher cabin pressurization.Looking at size of 380 wingspan and fuselage the 747 is small by comparison.Has being widely reported that passengers who have flown on A380 request it on future long haul flights.747- great history but will be marginalized in future by A380.
@bucco1977 its lower cabin pressure you want for less fatigue to use humans. and the 747 wont be margianlised, your talking rubbish there. do u really think boeing are gonaa let airbus wipe the floor with them! i dont think so, they are already planning a Full double decker to replace the current 747 in the future. they may just make a double decker 787 and call it the 747 with a different name again. only time will tell.
@guitarplayerforu You wrong there, A380's higher cabin pressurization relative to the 747 leads to less passenger fatigue. You say 747 not being marginalized as Boeing will eventually replace it with a new design, we are comparing A380 with 747 here not with some new design you talk about that Boeing might have in service in about 15 years. Saying it is superior to A380 dose not make sense, A380 beats it in size and it is a modern design.
Im sorry, but that 747 landing is far more beautiful than the Airbus. Both nice planes, but the Boeing 747 is a total classic and is the iconic symbol of US Aviation.
I want to live in those houses, cause I would love to see planes landing out of my window. But uh... only if my house can withstand a plane crash. :-\
and some A380's have restaurants for business and first class XD its like a flying hotel lol, but i wish they made a little better looking design, but i guess you can't fight with physics!
Boeing 747 wins, When the 747-8 comes in service. The A380 wont be much. It will carry 555 passengers while the 747-8 carries 500. And That isnt a huge difference
@VIPBaller The 747-8 capacity of 500 is an all economy layout. The A380 capacity in all economy layout is 853. You can't compare the 747-8 all economy layout with an A380 four class layout.
@mcpcshowcaseHD i agree on you there. The luksus version of the A380 can carry 555 passengers while the Economy can carry 853. the airbus is still a win :D
@mcpcshowcaseHD IMO I'd rather be on a 747, the a380's just too slow and it's already had 2 huge accidents whiles the 747 has been is service for longer and is more trustworthy.
@DIMATIF The A380 has had one major incident caused by the Rolls Royce engine - a component that was not made by Airbus. The turbine blowout of an engine can never be contained because the parts operate so fast and are very heavy and contain a lot of energy. The A380 basically survived the equivalent of a missile attack. A testament to Airbus and the safety inheritently built into the A380.
By the way, the A380 is as fast as the 747 when in cruise mode.
@DIMATIF that explains a lot, sorry posum, it was rubbish the a380 has not had two huge accidents, accidents involve death and/or total failure of an entire system, neither happened here, this is a major incident of which the outcome is not yet clear. Just under half of a380's use RR engines, so its not a problem that covers all of the planes.
@DIMATIF and engine faults of exploding in flight if they use Rolls royce trent 900. not good a aircrft that has braking problems and engine problems. go for 747-8i when its release in 2012 as its basically 787 dreamliner with the oringinal 747 fuselage stretched to hold 467 passengers and i believe the 747-8 intercontinental is going to have a shower for first class customers but no need for towels as this shower dries you off automatically. saw this on a programme a while back, looks cool as:)
The 747-4 carrys more passengers than the A380. So even though its still larger, it does not carry more passengers.

Boeing Y2 is Boeing 787 but i didn't knew Boeing Y3 is a new superjumbo, but when I hear you saying this, i'm scared for the future of the A380! But I think Boeing needs to watch for the A350
akierrs2 1 year ago
@guitarplayerforu Debatable if the 787 beats the A380 in terms of technology. Just because Boeing have put a fancy name on the end of it (the dream Liner) proves nothing. Do you really think people can be as excited about a new mid-sized airplane comming on the market as a plane which is far bigger than anything that went before and the worlds first double decker passanger airplane. Also the A350 may yet prove to be a better plane than the 787.
bucco1977 1 year ago
This video is about size comparison? To me this video is all about sound comparison and how the a380 is so much quieter, its brilliant.
chatteyj 1 year ago
The A380 is way way better on almost every angle, economics, technology, passenger comforts - you name it!

@whitireia The 747 has all of them... Technology-tv

DIMATIF 1 year ago
@DIMATIF the 747-8 has a smaller cabin area, uses more fuel per passenger, and is basically a revamped 747-400.
Lufthansa have stated that they will configure 747-8I with 405 seats. In comparison to the A380 which is configured on avergae for 525 seats.
The A380 will still be the superior product with newer aviation technologies and better passenger comforts. The 747 will not have a shower.
whitireia 1 year ago
@whitireia boeing designed shower that soaps washes dries without the need of towels.
747-8 use GEnx-2B engines what cleaner than trent 900's or GP7200'S. new plane, cos 787 technologies, fuselage stretched to hold 467 passengers. 747-8 Intercontinental is more than 10 percent lighter per seat than the Airbus A380 and consumes 11 percent less fuel per passenger. That translates into a trip-cost reduction of 21 percent and a seat-mile cost reduction of more than 6 percent compared to the A380.
guitarplayerforu 1 year ago
@DIMATIF totally agree, cant wait to see the 747-8 intercontinental flying around in 2014 or 2015. what would be good is if they releasd the new 787 and 747 together. the new 747 is basically a new plane, its shares almost all the 787 technologies, only thing it doesn't share it its fuselage, its the original 747 fuselage stretched to hold 467 passengers, it has the 787's GEnx-2B engines, 787 wings, 787 flight deck, 787 interior, possibly a shower*, fly by wire from the 787 and more 787 tech.

I have to admit the Airbus A380 is a great achievement, but Boeing just kicks ass! :)

a380 wins!
zacpower007 1 year ago
Obviously what else do we have to prove Airbus A380 wins... i went on both and a380 definitely is better.
Tunak11 1 year ago
@Tunak11 Why is it the best? The best in a waste of money? the fact thats its overpriced? The fact that airbus uses unfair subsidies to stay in business? right.... If it werent for Boeing, your little A380 wouldnt even be here in the first place, fanboy.
WiiForever302 1 year ago
@WiiForever302 How is it overpriced? the price was really fair and affordable i flew from YYZ(Pearson Int Airport Canada) to DXB(Dubai Int) in first class and i wish to go back because it was so good... well until you go on one you wont find the difference. The truth is Airbus had built their dream machine and Boeing cannot compete anymore... even though they are trying soo hard...
Tunak11 1 year ago
@Tunak11 Trying so hard? Airbus is trying so hard to even stay in the market. Theyre using goverment subsidies for crying out oud. Boeing's 787 made their maiden flight, and is fuel efficent. The 787 is 77% operating capacity while A380 is 88%, making Boeing safer when an engine faiure occurs. BTW, A380 already had engine failures while 787 is coming alive lmao
WiiForever302 1 year ago
@Tunak11 And i could care less about first class, you can afford a hotel room for as long as you want, not the end of the flight. And you do know Boeing was around during the start of the aviation age... But one plane will always be better than A380, that russian AN
WiiForever302 1 year ago
@WiiForever302 obviously i know that boeing was around during the start and i dont even know why you think airbus is overpriced... and i couldnt care less about arguing with you about this stupid topic what is better "airbus or being" and Airbus A380 wins over 747 but all the other airbus planes are bad compared to other boeing planes to get this staright i just want to say A380 is better than Boeing NOT AIRBUS BETTER THAN BOEING...
Tunak11 1 year ago
@Tunak11 Not the company, the plane. There are more stupid topics I can discuss over this, but thanks for not being a dick man.
WiiForever302 1 year ago
@Tunak11 boeing can't compete! dont make me laugh, boeing are doing better than airbus with their 787 dreamoiner alone, 850 odd orders at first maiden flight and its keeping on rising the orders for that aircraft. boeing are planning on after making the 747-8I not doing another 747 or giving it a complet redesign to be a full double decker airplane. probably a double decker 787 dreamliner, i would love that.

Americans knocking the A380 are delusional,747 great plane but now superceded by A380.50% more floor space, uses less fuel despite being far bigger, larger seats, bigger storage compartments for passengers, higher cabin pressurization.Looking at size of 380 wingspan and fuselage the 747 is small by comparison.Has being widely reported that passengers who have flown on A380 request it on future long haul flights.747- great history but will be marginalized in future by A380.
bucco1977 1 year ago
@bucco1977 it's their arrogance. They would deny the truth if it was shoved in their faces.
TheA340guy 1 year ago
@bucco1977 Doesnt mean the 747 wont be the queen of the skies. if it werent for Boeing, Airbus A380 wouldnt even be here.
WiiForever302 1 year ago
@bucco1977 its lower cabin pressure you want for less fatigue to use humans. and the 747 wont be margianlised, your talking rubbish there. do u really think boeing are gonaa let airbus wipe the floor with them! i dont think so, they are already planning a Full double decker to replace the current 747 in the future. they may just make a double decker 787 and call it the 747 with a different name again. only time will tell.
guitarplayerforu 1 year ago
@guitarplayerforu You wrong there, A380's higher cabin pressurization relative to the 747 leads to less passenger fatigue. You say 747 not being marginalized as Boeing will eventually replace it with a new design, we are comparing A380 with 747 here not with some new design you talk about that Boeing might have in service in about 15 years. Saying it is superior to A380 dose not make sense, A380 beats it in size and it is a modern design.
bucco1977 1 year ago
Im sorry, but that 747 landing is far more beautiful than the Airbus. Both nice planes, but the Boeing 747 is a total classic and is the iconic symbol of US Aviation.

Boeing 747 wins, When the 747-8 comes in service. The A380 wont be much. It will carry 555 passengers while the 747-8 carries 500. And That isnt a huge difference
VIPBaller 1 year ago
@VIPBaller The 747-8 capacity of 500 is an all economy layout. The A380 capacity in all economy layout is 853. You can't compare the 747-8 all economy layout with an A380 four class layout.
mcpcshowcaseHD 1 year ago
@mcpcshowcaseHD i agree on you there. The luksus version of the A380 can carry 555 passengers while the Economy can carry 853. the airbus is still a win :D
samtraildk 1 year ago
@mcpcshowcaseHD
You really think it will happen to see an A380 with 853 pass?Pure teoric dream.
Better 500 pass with more commodity. This is Boeing attempt and i think it's right. They also say 747 has a minor flying cost. Let's see.
bufalobilll 1 year ago
@bufalobilll Air Austral have already announced A380's will all economy layouts so your point has already been proven wrong.

Yes,at the moment only one company has ordered that version.I think it's absurd to carry 900 pass.
Bye

bufalobilll 1 year ago
@mcpcshowcaseHD IMO I'd rather be on a 747, the a380's just too slow and it's already had 2 huge accidents whiles the 747 has been is service for longer and is more trustworthy.
DIMATIF 1 year ago
@DIMATIF The A380 has had one major incident caused by the Rolls Royce engine - a component that was not made by Airbus. The turbine blowout of an engine can never be contained because the parts operate so fast and are very heavy and contain a lot of energy. The A380 basically survived the equivalent of a missile attack. A testament to Airbus and the safety inheritently built into the A380.
By the way, the A380 is as fast as the 747 when in cruise mode.
mcpcshowcaseHD 1 year ago
@mcpcshowcaseHD I said IMO, I am aware that the a380 uses the rolls royce trent 1000s.
DIMATIF 1 year ago
@DIMATIF Wrong actually the A380 uses the Trent 900.
The 787 Dreamliner (a.k.a 7-late-7 Nightmareliner) uses the Trent 1000.

chatteyj 1 year ago
@chatteyj ._. I'm australian and It's not rubbish I also said IMO you blind rat.
DIMATIF 1 year ago
@DIMATIF that explains a lot, sorry posum, it was rubbish the a380 has not had two huge accidents, accidents involve death and/or total failure of an entire system, neither happened here, this is a major incident of which the outcome is not yet clear. Just under half of a380's use RR engines, so its not a problem that covers all of the planes.
chatteyj 1 year ago
@chatteyj a380s also have brake problems. The A380's breaks can catch fire
DIMATIF 1 year ago
@DIMATIF the doors on 747's were capable of exploding out, then they fixed that design flaw
chatteyj 1 year ago
@chatteyj I thought that was a DC-10 or was it both?
Sirwest299 1 year ago
@DIMATIF and engine faults of exploding in flight if they use Rolls royce trent 900. not good a aircrft that has braking problems and engine problems. go for 747-8i when its release in 2012 as its basically 787 dreamliner with the oringinal 747 fuselage stretched to hold 467 passengers and i believe the 747-8 intercontinental is going to have a shower for first class customers but no need for towels as this shower dries you off automatically. saw this on a programme a while back, looks cool as:)
