She was, apparently, the nicest of the senior royals and the only one that was kind to Diana. The book I read about her stated that as a young woman she was very selfish, spoilt and attention-seeking. She loved the limelight and resented and was jealous of her older sister's position. The fact that she chose to give the supposed love of her life, Townsend, up in exchange for her title and all that came with it shows that she was insincere and materialistic - unlike Diana ref Mannakee/Hewitt.

From what I read she had sort of a sad life. She could not marry the man she really loved (in spite of the fact she would not ever be Queen)I also read that she was an obnoxious drunk who terrorized people by her visits and that she felt herself above everyone including her own mother and grandmother as they were not "BORN" royals.I guess though we Americans made it clear what we thought of "Royals" way back in 1776 though LOL
