Hon Iron (Honolulu Iron Works) in Hilo made rollers like this for all the sugar mills, they also re-built rollers by welding & re-cutting the grooves...
It's good that this kind of skill/equipment is avail in the islands. My friend @ Kawajalien (sp?) says they sometimes have to wait months for machining and parts to be flown in.
they make this parts to make the sugar, they mash the cane sugar with this, this parts are make up of cast iron the sizes vary, this is old school i used to do it in mexico, they weld teeth on it that is why he is grinding it.
