    Your parkour tutorials are really great. They hlped me with the basic vaults (Regular/Thief/Spped/Lazy) and I will keep trying do the other vaults. The exercises you show to make it easier to pass the obstacle with a particular vault are excellent. Your traceurs are really great and they know how to inspire and teach you. If youtube had got five star reviews, I would have given you 6 stars.

    Well done! Good Job! You are by far the best free tutorials here in youtube.

  • every time i try it i keep hitting my shins and it hurts alot. someone please tell me what i can do to fix it? and/or what im doing wrong

  • heads up to people who are afraid that theyre gonna clip their toes: as long as you extend you arms all the way, lean forwards, and tuck your legs in, then it is imppossible to clip your toes because the way your body is made doesnt allow that to happen. and youre gonna fall as you practice. i can almost garuntee that. just start out easy and dont push yourself :D

  • as soon as you leave the bar you remove your hands but rather how hard i try i am not able to leave my hands until i land yyy???

  • @126Pasta just don't slow down. don't think about it, just do it. once you get it, it becomes easier.

  • Aye, the first step to a successful monkey vault is leaving behind your fear of getting your feet caught on the bar. Then, as they said in the video, pull with your arms and push your hips up, and the rest just follows.

  • @MUSICBASEA I have yet to do a successful monkey vault, so I do have the fear of getting my feet caught but partially because i have now about 2-3 times, got any advice

  • @muizzizz I've heard that you must use your imagination. There could be many places to parkour, you might just not see them.

  • Thanks for the tutorial, the pointer on leaning your chest in towards the obstacle helped me clear the things I jump over. Kudos to your great tutorials!

  • @mianus3993 You clearly do not know what you are talking about.

    There is two kind of approaches the 1, 2 motion and the double foot punch (I think i said it correctly.)

    The 1, 2 motion is for longer distances while the double foot punch is for higher as he was using a higher bar.

  • How do I know how close do I get before I do the 1 foot hop right before my 1,2 pattern? I always go a little early or too late and fall.

  • @branden498 je moet proberen recht te blijven. Gewoon met beide handen aan de reling vasthouden, niet scheef trekken.

    Probeer eerst op een laag muurtje te komen met 2 voeten, zonder er overheen te springen. Dit helpte mij ook heel erg goed.

  • Hey guys i have a problem with that vault . I don't know why but when i try to do it i do right two handed vault . I already fall few times so i am not so afraid but i am doing two handed vault every time instead of monkey :( help me pls !!!

  • get an object thats like 1 foot,and monkey stall on it.(do what u would do for a monkey,but land on top of the object instead of going all the way over).when ur comfortable go over it.

  • Kong clears objects with a wider plane like a table, and you throw your body forward way before legs so that it goes almost horizontal.

    And to those watching: Monkey vault is THE easiest move in parkour by far.

  • @sAfuRos Different for some people. I found the speed vault way easier then monkeys and kongs

  • @sAfuRos i wouldnt say its the easiest because if you dont have flexibility its harder a normal 2 handed vault or lazy vault would be the easiest or a roll

  • Okay this is only my opinion. But everyone thinks it "looks easy" in is in actual fact easy. I do not find myself to have an psychological block at all. I just make sure my feet go all the over, the end

  • It is actually not as hard as it seems, like everyone at first thinks: Shit they make it look so easy, but like the tutorial says, after watching it, it is quite simple. Just remember to keep your head a bit foward otherwise you've got more chance of falling :). I did it on my 3rd try, was a bit scared at first but then I just went for it. Fear really does play a huge part of failing. But anyway, thanks for this, helped me alot.

  • @Zabuz Does the height of the rail matter? If the rail (or in my case fence) is below the waist will be much harder? I just don't want to face plant while attempting this!

    After I watched it.. I did it in first try...

    Another important thing to remember is, just as FreeshGuy said, too push away the fear.... =)

  • Me and my cousin, which is 4 years younger than me, went to train the monkey vault. He did it in 1st try, while i had to train myself into not fearing to fall etc.

    But when i tried to do it, i only had to use a couple of tries to get it perfect. So its all about pushing away the fear. if you've watched this movie you can do it in 1st try.

  • kong is higher, and more like you're diving... but there's nof difference between my kong and monkey vault

  • you dive into it more with kong vault, altough they look almost similar. Doesn't really matter which one you do

  • In the monkey your legs go through your arms, I think this tutorial is a bit off because he lets his hands go too early. The kong does not necassarily have a dive in it, hence the two different types of kong: The kong Vault and the Diving Kong Vault. But the kong is basically like what he does in this tutorial

    i couldnt do it because my legs couldnt fit through my arms and 1 hand came off early but if u lean foward, it gives ur arms more reach ;)

  • no, You Can Do It On Anything Thats Not Really To wide unless you want to get onto somthing high and flat

  • When i try doing monkeys my legs always lean to the left(when in mid air), they still go through my arms though. It is as if they go through my arms diagonally. What am i doing wrong? pls help :(

  • it might be because youre putting one arm further to the left or right than the other, but its nothing to worry about though (:

  • this move is all about confidence the technique is easy i learnt it today, you just have to go for it and it might help to have a friend as a spotter to stop faceplants shouldnt need him but it will help confidence. just go for it a few times and dont hisitate. youll probabaly get it first try if you go all in

  • the same thing happened for me. your probably not leaning enough. you have to keep your upper body level with the ground and push off with your arms at the end

  • I guess the monkey is used to vault over bars and things like railings, Kong is to vault over Tables or big obstacles, i think.

  • or you could use a speed vault to get over tables... or that's at least what i do

  • well a kong is like you dive into a monkey vault. Like over a picnic table or sumthin. They are similar, but they aren't entirely the same

  • I monkeyd today but it was a fluke wen i was practicing to jump onto the wall.But wen i got bak up could not do it again because it was a fluke and im to scared to do it now.Plz can some1 tell me wat to do.

  • these jumps take a lot out of you. your body knows when you're tired, and the more tired your body is, the more fear you'll have. if you can do it once, you can do it again. rest, and reattempt it when you're feeling fresh. also do whatever you did the first time, or whenever you felt it was easiest

  • if i ever go get my legs through tho my right hand always stays on a tiny bit longer and i land with my upper body leaning right and im facing slightly to the right. I have no idea why this is happening, but its only getting worse. So sometimes i go over all the steps in this video and i try it again only to fail. Help?

  • ok i have a problem. Ive been doing parkour for about 2 months and its been going pretty well. until last week. I went out one day and it was getting a little dark, but the sun was still out cuz it was setting. so i try a monkey vault and my feet kind of skim the fence i was dd\oing it over. So i try again. I face Plant. So i tryed it again a couple more times and i face planted again and again. So i stareted to relearn the vault. And now i cant do it anymore. I auto matically go into a 2 handed

  • i've wanted to do these since i was a child, but i could never do it. thanks to this video, today i did my first monkey vault ever ! Thank you so much. this tutorial helped me tons. One thing this tutorial didn't include though is the suggestion to start with a flat surface up top just to practice jumping up, instead of a railing so there is little or no fear of catching your feet and falling. thanks so much again !

  • i can do this vault fins on ground level or close to it, but theres this one fence i really want to monkey vault over, and its just woodchips below, but im afraid of clipping my feet and falling on my head. i know i can probably do it, cause its not a high fence, but im still cant get myself to do it.

  • I can do other vaults, like lazy, konging (only things like picnic benches), and two handed vaults, but I just can't get monkey vaults down.  I think it's because I'm too tall for it, (I'm almost 6 ft). I never actually tried it, but im pretty much scared that I'd hit my toes. Any tips?

  • try to keep your head down so itll help your hips go up more which makes it less likely for your feet to hit the obstacle. btw check out our channel.

  • whenever i do the monkey vault, i can get over, but my friend was watching me and he says that my hips and shoulders are parallel, but my feet like barely clear the fence. what am i doing wrong? am i just not bringing my knees into my chest enough, also i cant seem to land it well either.

  • remember to pull as you start the motion and to push away as you get over, that might help

  • Thnx for posting this tutorial! It helped me a lot. I had problems doing the monkey vault before...But after watching your tutorial, I found out that I did not lean my chest forward enough and I didn't push of with my hands as I should do. So now I can do the vault easily. Thanks.

  • Excelent tutorial!!! I suceeded when doing the 3rd try!I have been trying to jump over the obstacle using my leg last time. GOOD JOB!

  • well that explains it a hell of a lot better.

    ive only been bringing my body to a 45 degree angle, and trying to jump over using my legs.

  • i always have trouble doing monkeys on rails, i can do them on benches, but i have trouble getting my feet out of the way on rails

  • I get the same problem dude, i can do kickass monkey vaults on benches and shit but when it comes to large rails i can't do it properly and when i land i'm right infront of the rail so close my ass nearly hits it, Thats my main problems

  • Had the same problem when i started. All the other vaults was easy, but monkey/kong vault scared me due to the fear of getting hurt. It's ll in your mind thou, and as soon as you've practised it a few times the feeling goes away. To overcome it the only chance is for you to stack enough will power to bypass your fear, simple as that.

  • i had the same problem but i started by trying it from concrete to grass. like grass on the other side so if i fall i fall onto grass so it dont hurt as much. i tried kong yesterday i ate dirt but i still have all my front teeth coz i fell on grass jus try it and tell me if i helped

  • How do you people lean forward and jump high enough to clear your feet, and then land on your feet perfectly without clipping them or eating the pavement? I just can't figure it out.

  • What you do is lift both your feet right up to your chest and because your waist is above the rail your legs are too and you land perfectly did i help at all?

  • Get your hips high as you pull the rail towards you.

  • If you watch the vid, you would know that you need to use a combination of both, if you use only your lower body you wont clearly as easy.

  • As always, a brilliant tutorial from Urban Current. None of the other tutorials (I have found) mention using upper body and thats why I only just make it over. cheers guys. However, Ive injured my wrist, so no monkey vaulting for me for a while :( Any suggestions on things to practise, other than the lazy vault and dash vault, without using my right hand?

  • Tic tacs, precisions, one handed flow (tried it a few days ago, very interesting) one handed pop vaults, speed vault. Reverse vaults. Lots of things bro.

  • Check out our honolulu advertiser interview video. There is a flow towards the end. It is basically a combination of moved in one simple run.

    You can doa one hand dash but it it pointless. Use youtube to search reverse vault.
