Awesome-- that's the perfect for what I want to make. I'm going to show this to my dad and hopefully he can help me out. He has a garage full of tools. :)
i seen my uncle make a sheath out of kydex before, and he put it in the microwave until it was soft and then he put the knife in and used one of those ziploc vaccum things to squeez the air out and form it around the handle and blade
No vinyl and Kydex are very different. Kydex is very forgiving. It will soften alot befor any serious damage occurs to the plastic. Vinyl will not behave the same way. It will pretty mush fall apart or just melt away or distort. Kydex was originally used for Aircraft Interior applications and mouldings. As your in the states you can get it from any good knife supply stores online.

Nah...its not really going to be used for anything. Its still in the workshop as a box opener. So I didnt want to waste my eyelets on it. I just used what I could find in the workshop.
Very nice Rob, I like the way you shaped that broken machete.

@andrewubaldi
I just asked my friend who gave it to me. He doesnt know what it is.
It was rescued out of an industrial rubbish skip.
We just tested it. It bend and could be moulded with heat. So it was used.
Sorry i couldnt be any more help to you.

Nice.. So.. was that ABS? Gotta get yourself some foam for a press then you can have some fun :)

We dont know what it is. My mate got it from a guy a few workshops away.
Hes on holidays at mo. Otherwise we would ask him.
Wouldnt mind a foam press, but im use to doing it by hands now.
Can also control fine detail better with my gloved hand.
RDPproject 2 years ago
it looked like ABS. hehe.. with the foam press when its hot.. its all fine detail.. like vaccuum wrapping meat.. LoL
