You're courting disaster shaking that oregano jar over the food processor like that; one false move and there's a large pile of oregano in the mix that you can't remove!
@ihaveairlockers Meat comes from an Old English word--mete. This word simply meant food that was not liquid (i.e. solid food). This is why we say the "meat" of nuts or the "meat" of an avocado or a coconut; it is just a reference to the fact that the food is solid--"meaty." So, by making ersatz foods like the meatballs in this video, one is simply replacing one kind of meat (animal) with another (nuts and mushrooms). I hope this is enlightening.
ok, thanks, I didn't know that the English invented the word meat. At school, I learned that English, a germanic language gets most of it's word roots from Latin, French, Greek.
This is a fab recipe that's going to be way healthier than meat based food. None said it was 100% optimum nutrition but it's not far off I consider and you can sit and enjoy it with friends/family who are not raw fooders.I'm sad that it's been criticised in this way so vicky get off ur soapbox and chill out!
Respond to this video...@jewelltr. Furthermore if you know anything about NUTS you would know they are all dehydrated at high temps b/c they would grow mold otherwise. They only grow 3weeks out of the year and they are a high fat food. Plus, they add condiments and those are not optimal either. Wanna dance around the truth, be my guest. I say do the right thing when it comes to health and teach the right thing. More important than making a nice recipe and getting praise like this.
@bg11215 and you say nothing of substance, so we are even..I would rather be me:) I am pretty confident in myself and others have faith in me too, no need for people like you..A dime a dozen. oh yeah that looks healthy....? NOT. r u kidding? and you actually shared a panel with Dr Douglas Graham? Have you not read his brilliant and amazing book The 80/10/10 diet? He has the solid truth on health and this recipe is absurd. Just have a cooked meal once in a while and keep it simple and eat fruits and veggies in their raw state. this video was so not cool guys.
@vicky2c ..Vicky, obviously you did not watch their video through to the end for they clearly tell you that a little cooked is ok if that is what you want...what possibly is unhealthy about raw natural foods?????
@jewelltruscott with all due respect, I am not new to the raw natural hygiene world. This video clearly shows the wrong message ads nuts are hardly a raw food b/c they are dehydrated at high temperatures. If they are going to be gurus and represent the movement, they should be more responsible in telling people to eat more fruits and veggies and the less of this recipe and the more you eat whole foods. They know what is right and they are just selling out with this vid.
@vicky2c .mmmmm...nuts are not processed by dehydration at high temperatures unless you choose to buy nuts in that way...but most people are not that ignorant to buy processed nuts...they are hardly "SELLING" a video that is free...I am not sure if you have done much research but many put very wonderful information out FOR FREE...and people like you who just like to critize for no benefit, are really trying to undermine peoples good intentions...this is health at stake and nuts sure beat Macca's
@jewelltruscott so I write "with all due respect" and you piss on me..yeah, that seems fair. You are just looking to vent on someone and you need to put me down. Whatever, but fat is the culprit really here. Fat is the reason we run into so many diseases. You may not know enough about health, but I have researched quite a bit and so has this woman making the video. Ask her if she eats nuts on a daily basis and feels optimal. You have no clue what you are talking about. do your h.w.
@bg11215 everything has fat and yes, you do need a little fat sometimes..not everyday. There are times of the year when fat grows and it is cold out that is the best time to eat it. Like nuts right off the tree (before they mold) they are filled with water and it takes a while to crack one opened. This the reason we should not have too many in nature. acvocados and durian also have fat.better sorce than nuts. and nuts usuallly need salt to make it taste better. that could be bad.
@vicky2c Wow you're really defensive, guess I struck a chord. Fat "grows"? Oh really? LOL. Um, ok. "This is the reason we should not have too many in nature". You're really full of yourself, huh? Hey I have an idea. How about you worry about yourself and what diet works best for you, and let others do the same? People will decide for themselves what they like to eat and why. You are not the end all, be all of nutrition wisdom and not everyone wants (or cares about)your opinion.
@vicky2c And besides, nuts contain many other beneficial nutritional properties besides fat, such as protein, amino acids, etc. But if you' re happy eating just avocados, knock yourself out. And FYI, your body also requires salt. But more importantly, if I wanted nutritional advice, I sure wouldn't ask it of you! Thanks.
@bg11215 btw, my advice is not towards you. I want to save ppl time and money and effort and do the right nutirtion plan. I follow Dr Doug Graham and he has been lfrv for 33 yrs. I think he know s a bit more than yourself. So I am just giving my hard earned studies and experience out here for free. You are just an egomaniac. I don't do this for ego but to spread awareness. Ask Annmarie what she eats and what she knows to be true to health. go ahead, ask her.
I am a meat eater but I think it would be interesting to add your walnut/mushroom balls AND regular meatballs together to make an extra special pasta meal. You guys definately inspire people to try different foods even though they may not be 100% raw or vegi inclined.
hi! i just wanted to say i made these 'meat'balls and they were fkn amazing! my next endeavor is your herb crusted portobello steak! ugh just too amazing.
It does not matter if it's vegetbles if it's fruit you want to be more reasonible and if it's herbs and spices that are strong only add small amounts and if it's nuts and seeds don't add a whole bag just as much as you need if you need more info message me anytime.
My kitchen is very small and I really do not want to buy a dyhydrator-we are trying to live gadget free -- toaster, kattle, juicer and blender only! Not even a microwave. Can I use the oven as dyhydrator and at what temperature?
you could but it goes up more higher then 115 degrees which makes it not raw anymore there is lots of dehydrators that will save you energy and that are small and convient message me if you need more info.
I've made this twice so far. Wish they were a bit firmer -- then, maybe I didn't dehydrate them long enough as mine were a bit bigger than yours. I just about licked the processor bowl and S-blade. Discovered it makes a nice pate, too, on flax crackers. Seriously yummy. Good job!
nice vid the website banner is rather distracting and get's in the way. cats also *Need* meat in their diet for they can not synthesize lysine and must get it from meat in their diet. i had a friend who tried to get her cats on a vedg diet and eventually killed them all
If you don't have a dehydrator you can probably use your own oven. Just set the temperature to 115 degrees. I can do it with my electric oven. Its just that it is wasting a lot of energy since the oven is so big. I am going to try this recipe tonight.
This was really yummy! I made it today. I used all fresh herbs and instead of the nama shoyu I used coconut aminos.

It's funny how vegans keep mentioning the "M" word; Meat !
Vegan Meat Balls
Vegan Meat sandwiches etc
And they say things like, "Hmm, yummy, tastes just like meat".
If you are so transfixed on MEAT, then just eat some ! It's so simple !
If you are a true vegan, then you can never say the magic word "Meat".
If you are a true vegan and you use the word "meat" then you will have to kill yourself and save the planet.
There's a reason that so many people despise vegans.
