Of course I like it, but it could be viewed negatively for a number of reasons, when you get down to it. Popeye's broken home with what might seem to be a philandering father who is unwilling to support his child certainly wouldn't add appeal for those in such straits.

I've been watching Popeye cartoons for almost 50 years and, I have to admit, I don't recall ever seeing this one. I probably saw it when I was a boy, and haven't seen it in decades. It's a fun cartoon.

Also what strange is that the women in the island where Poopdeck Pappy "lived" & ruled as thier "King" didn't looked like thier male counterparts & they were more "Hawaiian" in thier apperance & @ 2:45 they where doing the Hula a native Hawaiian dance. Also note how Popeye's Mom (who was rarely seen in the Popeye Comic Strip) sounded like the Original Poopdeck Pappy (from the Popeye cartoons from 1930's to the mid 1940's) & Pappy had a higher pitch voice in this cartoon.
