  • and I also thought it was the right one only

  • ya know...i thought popeye AND pappy had a squinky eye that couldnt open :/

  • Of course I like it, but it could be viewed negatively for a number of reasons, when you get down to it. Popeye's broken home with what might seem to be a philandering father who is unwilling to support his child certainly wouldn't add appeal for those in such straits.

  • Just once I'd like to see the cannibals actually eat Popeye.

  • Cheaper by the dozen haha

  • the best moments are right after he has eaten the spinach, followed by the catchy melody and a close-up of his biceps .. always some powerful stuff, a tank, mount everest or a giant engine .. ahhh <3

  • All the hula girls and Poopdeck Pappy goes for the ugliest one.

  • I can't tell so is he in Hawaii, Cuba, or Africa?

  • @LucianUramu:

    It was Hacufrica.

  • @tw69hands2: *LMAO!* X.D

  • what is the Island Fling doing after it.was this a part of a series?

  • I REMEMBER THIS ONE......BUT I GUESS IT'S RACIAL FOR WHITES TO BEAT UP ON BLACKS.....OK FOR BLACKS TO ATTACK WHITES.....

  • oog. "cheaper by the dozen". that's pretty bad.

  • I've been watching Popeye cartoons for almost 50 years and, I have to admit, I don't recall ever seeing this one. I probably saw it when I was a boy, and haven't seen it in decades. It's a fun cartoon.

  • I dont see why they have to wait 50 years to ban something after being shown all those times. Its been shown 1000s of times all through the 60s, 70s, 80s until the Clinton activist era.

  • I see why this was banned; the niggers.

  • I've seen worse racism on tv.

  • ohh...black slavery huh...

  • Racism from the dark ages

  • @2000rubs you should also see:

    2:37,6:18

  • @2000rubs it's not the woman.

black mans worshiping a white man

  • @2000rubs Oh. I thought you were going to tell me about the name of the Popeye cartoon I posted.

  • @2000rubs Ok what?

  • @2000rubs There was another racist POPEYE cartoon produced around this time when these black African natives were trying to cook Popey in a cauldron. And one big black man was checking his cook book on how to cook sailors. I don't the name of the cartoon.

  • @67nairb -the name of this is POpeye Ala Mode

  • @kayfowler1 Is it available on you tube?

  • considerin the black people say

oogala boobala smoogala save king pappy,

    I think thats pretty racist

  • Pappy gets all the bitches. No wonder why he doesn't want to leave, lol.

  • The lady popeye is kind of creepy. Thumbs up if you agree.

  • pop eye my fav cartoon

  • BAHAHAHA Cheaper by the Dozen!!!

    ABAHAHAHA!

  • We need this back on tv

  • cannibalism and racism in a cartoon, what more do you need to have an awesome show?

  • Looks like popeye's a chip off the old block... And this was allowed back then if you're whining about racism. Today we're more careful of not stepping of others' toes, but are becoming more PC

  • u know something this episode was unique because this is one of the very few popeye episodes in which bluto wasn't in it.

  • Oh come on, who hasn't dressed up in drag to attract their father before?

  • Popeye, Popeye's Mother, Pappy- Dee Bradley Baker

  • Mammy, Pappy, women with curves, casual racism and Popeye in drag - all packed into one cartoon. Amazing!

  • the only colored one with pappy

  • That's racist to everyone featured here. e_e Bad Popeye cartoon...

  • not sure how to word this but this was the only color cartoon with popeye's pappy

  • lol I don't think its fair to white people, makes us all look like we just laze around, then beat up on minorities, horrible just horrible, i am a white person and i work a hard job, always making the white man look racist

  • @mard420 , That's True not all are, but you have to admit some are that way sad as it is.

  • i made a smiley face pappy, its like a normal smiley face, but the mouth is just a straight line and it has chubby cheeks

  • i think he hurt himself with spinach lol

  • this also reminds me of my pops. his name is pappy lol. i woder if he got his name from this

  • i havent seen this since i was a kid!

  • spinach and smoking go hand in hand... from dad to son to sweepee

  • oogla boogla smoogla!

  • @Zaku009 finally someone else who thought that part was hilarious. i also thought the cheaper by the dozen part was funny as hell fuck it. if it's racism it's funny as hell. they should make an episode about mexicans i'd love to see that one.

  • what is it?king pop.rag mop.whats next?

  • @kayfowler1 Be-bop: A type of jazz popularlized by Dizzy Giellepsie in the late 40's. Mention is also made to 'Ragmop', a popular novelty song at the time this cartoon was made.

  • cheaper by the dozen lmao that was a good one

  • 4:46, So much for loyalty.

  • Pappy + Mammy= Popeye :)

  • By looking at his Mammy and Pappy, and going by Pappy's behaviour at the 2:52 mark....anyone else think Popeye is inbred?

  • @Xillatem Lol.

  • Crossdressing.

    IT'S AWWWWWRIGHTTTT

  • I think it got banned cuz of the "Cheaper by the dozen" thing.

  • his fore arms look nasty at 2:12 and he also sounds like a witch lol

  • This video is a racist and stereotypical depiction of Afrocentrism characteristic of the era. Inasmuch, where irregardless of spinach, in real life where Popeye and Pappy would have had thier a**es handed to them by those natives. Accordingly, a Eurocentric delusion like Nazism; predicated on perceived superiority where no superiority exists.

  • @thadeusxyz1 actually you are totally wrong. Those people are not primitives 1st of all lol. Then yes they would have had their a**es kicked like Belgium colonised Congo. & i'm talking about 10-20 people who colonized 40 000 000. This is how true this is.Then this is a cartoon you poor child get over it : ).

This cartoon is one of my favs 5/5 *

  • This was the weakest version of the animated versions of Popeye finding Pappy.Famous Studios used Pappy rarely and inacccurately.

  • it feels great to be reunited

  • Comment removed

  • I've never seen this Poepye cartoon before.

  • i dont know why, but i think this one is out of sync

  • why was it banned exactly?

  • they probably thought it was racist.

  • @therealetorin It's probably the same reaosn why most people think the early one that this episode is based from, because of Animal Cruelty.

  • portrayal of african americans 3:48

  • @TEMPmichaelhansen Why is the big muscular African native wearing Army stripes on his arm at 3:48?

  • That's the first time I knew they made a color short with the Pappy character. Interesting to watch.

  • The color Max Fleischer ones were the best. "Popeye Meets Sindbad" and "Popeye Meets Ali Baba" and "Aladdin's Lamp." :)

  • Which were .. all or almost all recolors of old B/W episodes.

  • 2:52 - Popeye in drag -- that would make your skin crawl O_O

  • @JA268 Ya, that was way more disturbing than any time I've seen Bugs Bunny do it.

Getting attracksted to your own son in drag? Shiver me timbers. LOL!

  • are you talking about island fling or popeye alamode.you never see those on tv anymore

  • This is so funny, I don't get they banned this.

  • maybe they thought it looked racist or something with the natives. thats all i can think of

  • That is because people are retards.

    Nuff said.

  • this is the best part :)

  • I don't get it why was this banned from TV? looks all right to me. I've seen this one before.

  • Mustn't upset the NAACP ya know!!

  • @Astraldragon1 Probably the part where Popeye hangs a bunch of black dudes onto the fence and then puts a sign on them saying "cheaper by the dozen!"

  • @Astraldragon1 He's smoking a pipe that's why (JK)

  • @Astraldragon1 Look at the tribesmen again.

  • @Astraldragon1 "racist" against the "indigenous"

  • @Astraldragon1 i know what's wrong with it it might be racist so they banned it

    see:

    5:33 or 0:40

  • Wasn't there a Popeye Cartoon from the 1950's that was banned from television involving Popeye & Several Cannabals? I remember one of the characters a "pint size" cannabal who was in Wotta Knight but the scene with him in it is now cut & banned from television due to P.C.Censorship.

  • brilliant! sfantastic and can you comment my chanell?

  • Pappy called his own son an ugly little brat!!

  • Just as "disturbing" is that Popeye's Pappy & his mother look just alike (brother & sister - maybe?? lol) & that Pappy becomes entranced by his own son in DRAG!! lol lol

  • the only color theatrical cartoon featuring Poopdeck. Not seen cause its one of the very few to feature negative sterotypes of black people.

  • Also what strange is that the women in the island where Poopdeck Pappy "lived" & ruled as thier "King" didn't looked like thier male counterparts & they were more "Hawaiian" in thier apperance & @ 2:45 they where doing the Hula a native Hawaiian dance. Also note how Popeye's Mom (who was rarely seen in the Popeye Comic Strip) sounded like the Original Poopdeck Pappy (from the Popeye cartoons from 1930's to the mid 1940's) & Pappy had a higher pitch voice in this cartoon. (voice of Jack Mercer)

  • @diddymuck o....i don't really think is sterotypical, i mean even if it is it is steriotypical in a good way, strong, big, and long.

  • I have this ep on VHS.

  • @Johnophobia that vhs is probably worth a pretty penny.

  • @diddymuck The sad part is that they aren't even black.

    They're Hawaiian!
