You're right. Journalists not asking politicians tough questions, and even providing an outright propaganda outlet that takes sides through assumptive wording (such as what this news story by the AP does) is one of the reasons politicians get away with what they do.
I think governments are only fighting the easy part of the war on drugs. Another step would be to help those who are addicted. It's the harder part, but it would slowly stop the drug flow. Also, the protection of farmers like here in the US.
what is positiv u fucking moron. that 90% of opium is coming from afganistan... do research ppl. before us invasion under 10% opium was coming from afganistan..after US led forces for freedom 90% is been exported from afg.
it is positiv for them... coz now they r in control of it. and making profit of it.
Right, taliban got their funding from opium trade, gimme a break. We funded them back during the russian invasion of afghanistan, and we continue to fund them today.
If the USA would simply buy all the poppies (or marijuana, or coca leaves) directly from the growers and destroy what isn't needed for medicinal/legal purposes the cost would be a tiny fraction of what we spend on the "war on drugs".
The war on drugs is a joke. They should just call it the war on empty prison cells. Without the fields of weed, poppy, and coca and the people producing it we would have no people to fill prisons with. It's an endless market. As soon as one guy gets thrown in the slammer two more come around to take his place and more funds are dropped in to bring these people to "justice". If they slashed and burned the crops the DEA agents would be out of the job. Pretty much everything about the DEA is a lie.
thats probably because there aren't many buyers
