This song made me cry tears of joy and comfort when I was a little girl. A few years ago I remember telling my brother about this song, but it's only today that I finally decided to sit here and look it. It still stirs up those beautiful feelings. I'm 19 now. It's weird how a song you heard a couple of times as a child can have such an impact on you as an adult. Thanks for posting! Can't wait to share with my younger brother (who didn't believe that this existed xD) and 5yr old cousin. :-)
I loved this song when I heard, loved it still the 2nd time and now years after I still love it... such a sweet simple song... I may sound like an old fogey but... they don't make children's entertainment like this anymore... I still think Sesame street was THE best.... ;p
I only saw this once on television, so I didn't think there was any hope of finding it again. Thank goodness I somehow remembered the melody and lyrics, and thank you so much for uploading this.
I remember watching this on a VHS just before bedtime, brings back so many memories, its just as good as it was back then, can't thank you enough for bringing it back <3
omg.. I was born in 81 . But i soo remember this.. Tearjerker* lol I would like to thank the lord for growing up during the 80 and 90's. Having great memories.. thanks for the upload
Is it bad that I haven't heard this song in probably over a decade, yet as soon as the title popped up I knew what it was? But all I could remember was the last line...
Now that I've watched it I remember particularly loving the animation as a kid...
when i have my son or daughter my husband and I are playing these songs when he is laying in his crib I think that it is wonderful i dont want to live on the moon and this one
Everybody is right. Carroll Spinney has performed Big Bird (and Oscar) ever since the show debuted in 1969, with two exceptions:
1. When he got sick during the tapings of a few first season episodes, replacements were called in.
2. Due to Spinney's age in recent years, other performers have been trained to play Big Bird. (namely, Rick Lyon in the opening theme, and more frequently, Matt Vogel.)
I always liked this shimmery, off-balance world. Add this to the vast heap of Sesame Street animated films that I wish I could attach a creator name to!

This seems like Robin the frog was singing this voice-over. After all, Jerry Nelson did perform Robin, right?
BeatlesAmiYumi 9 months ago
@BeatlesAmiYumi
Yes, Jerry Nelson did perform Robin the Frog's voice and he also used a similar voice for Gobo Fraggle on the show, "Fraggle Rock".

Gee, the way Jerry Nelson's singing this song, sounds like some of his past Sesame Street characters. Such as Farley.
tpirman1982 4 years ago
Well it's meant to be sung by the kid you see in bed in this cartoon,so Jerry Nelson used his "kid voice" for the singing.
wattamack4 4 years ago
Actually, when Jerry Nelson was doing a kid voice, it sounded just like Robin the frog.
