  • I love Kid's character so much. This song always makes me a little misty-eyed.

  • God dammit Star-Stealing Girl.

I downloaded this on my iPod, and invariably when I'm angry and just want to drive fast, this song will come on and absolutely kill any anger I might have. It's just too damn beautiful to not affect you in some way....

  • The passion of the composer who put his heart and soul on this music is palpable...

You rarely see these thing nowadays.

Music is art, the abstract and honest expression of who we are.

  • I'm feel sorry for anyone who doesn't heard this master piece.

  • It's like a sweet, naive child is learning that the world isn't such a good place, this song is. Like their heart breaking as they discover cruel and unforgiving the world can be.

  • Chrono Cross left it's mark on me when I played the game.

  • im just a teen with no experience and an open mind towards music. and i want to play this game because this song just brought me to tears, and i wish i were older. maybe that way, i could still listen to everything, and i could still know what playing this mustve been like... maybe that way i could know what rpgs used to be.

  • @WallflowerCowboy: Don't think it twice. CC it's a masterpiece like no other. My favorite of all time, I have never beaten a game 60 times before CC and haven't done the same yet, and probably never will.

  • Man I could listen to this song forever. It brings back so many memories..rpgs today just aren't the same as they used to be. Chrono Cross was a wonderful game. Every now and again I'll break it out and play it for kicks. Glad I bought it all those years ago. :)

  • I just... I stopped playing 2011 videogames because I know how different are old school games... and how much they have to teach you. It never gets old.

  • This and the Dovakiin theme are probably my most favorite of video game songs.

  • Truly a masterpiece...

  • this is so good that when i had nightmare my last bf us to put on for me to go back to sleep. it work it calming . I love this song

  • damn, never thought i'd get moved by any Song in ANY Game. First time i heard this almost made me cry. Yasunori Mitsuda is a genius of his kind. His music simply perfected the game. :)

  • ...

Star-Stealing Girl is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. It is calming, serene, and, in every sense, a thoughtful piece. It's on my Sleepy Time playlist; this song is GREAT to sleep to, think with, or work or study with.

With Star-Stealing Girl, Yasunori Mitsuda seems to steal the stars in dreams to bring them to us in song.

  • <3

  • One of the most gorgeous songs I've ever heard. Simply put, music of the gods. God damn is this a tear jerker....

  • Speaking of nostalgia, this amazing melody reminds me of a better time in my life. A time to look back and see a bright-eyed, hopeful teen caught up in a love for the future and the present. I see a beautiful woman. I see inspiring moonlight. I see a better person. First time I heard this song while playing shit it almost made me cry. What the hell is SE thinking? Need to rebuild my old collection. Thank u for the upload.

  • I've actually put this song in my will for my funeral. This song is very powerful for me and it combines all the elements I'd want for my final goodbye: beauty, longing, sadness and a touch of hope. I still cry every time I play this game and the songs comes on.

  • The term nostalgia describes a yearning for the past, often in idealized form.[1] The word is a learned formation of a Greek compound, consisting of νόστος (nóstos), meaning "returning home", a Homeric word, and ἄλγος (álgos),

Ooh yes the Genius Yasonuri thank you sir for such beautiful music that we will never again hear. Makes me glad I am alive I miss the good old days. Brilliant Game.

  • When I die... i want this song to be played while my casket is being lowered.....

  • Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawr. I used this song before ;3

  • good game and amazing music

  • But I'm sure we'll meet again someday, you and I... another place, another time.

It's just that we might not realize that you are you and i am me.

  • I just spontaneously got an image of a girl whose dog died and was buried at a beach where she loved to play. The girl can barely contain her sadness and she starts bawling her eyes out.

Music is pretty powerful, am I right?

  • Kid you are now free.

Serge the Ghosts will be there to help.

We humans can reach for the cosmos, too many stars for us not to reach.

I'll, always have you protect me, as long as I do good by you. The bhagwan gita explained but our soul had to accept you.

    Thank you chrono cross.

  • As long as I've lived I have always wanted the world to experience this piece of art. For example, instead of having people worry about how the Kardashians live every damn second, people can endure true emotion and understand how beautiful life really is. I honestly feel that this game made me truly become a better person, and hopefully if you haven't played it yet, it could do the same for you....

Thanks for the wonderful memories, Chrono Cross

  • @UnoStudios indeed my friend, life has unlimited possibilities of beauty, and until we all realize this the world will be moaning until she cant handle the ignorance and hate we have all over today, thank you chrono cross

  • @UnoStudios You just made me shed a tear.

  • @UnoStudios Amen do that brother...amen 2 that

  • I love this song, Is the best song!!

  • God i miss the old days where creaters actually put emotion in their video games thank u square soft for this beautiful game R.I.P Square Soft

  • @LordlyPrune: Let me ask.. When did the good old days end?

Some developers still do that. It's just not as common as before.

  • @OmegaMetroid93

And thats the whole problem. thats why its sad. Plus developers these days definitely don't convey that same level of emotion near as much as they did back then.

  • @ChainMeFree09: Some do. It's rare, which is sad, but some do.

  • Comment removed

  • @LordlyPrune This isn't a strictly Square Soft production. The cast of creators is as much Enix as it is Square Soft.

  • @NY1love - This was definitely before Enix merged with Square. Unless for some reason the two companies worked on the game together for some reason. o_O

  • @snookies13 but we have to renember that square and enix made their old games emotional and full of creativity example enix made terranigma ilusion of gaia and square made chrono trigger and chrono cross,im triying to say that they do better games before de merged, what do u think?

  • @maximo702 - I agree wholeheartedly, when Wada came into Square around 2001? That's when things started going downhill, he rose up the ranks and eventually took over, now things are just not like they used to be. :( I don't blame Enix, I only blame him lol.

  • @NY1love: This game was made by Squaresoft, not Enix.

  • I want to cry when I think of all the things I've missed out on... All the great classic games. Not these new dumb games that are only about going around on missions killing people., I want to play every great game I want to achieve more,.... But then again times passes and things get old, and people that create these games die, Just imagine the mind behind such a game, wow. This song always makes me sad and sets harmony,

  • @Necrorevan sorry dude :( that is horrible :(

  • very sad :(

  • This reminds me of my girlfriend, she was raped and killed in front of my eyes. We used to play this game a lot. Then my brother and father died in a car crash and i cry everytime i hear this song. But the worst part was losing my sister and mother in a train accident. I got to live with my grandfathers who liked to play videogames with me but they passed away recently. Now i got cancer and i want this song played in my funeral.

    RIP

  • @Necrorevan oh wow... that's a rough story.

  • @Necrorevan I like it. We seeing who can come up with the saddest comment or something?

  • man this song is the most depressing tune...it reminds me of all my troubles i had to over come and what made me stronger, at times i wanted to give up and quit...to stop trying....somewhere i found my strength....of course nothing could be as deep as the memories of lost loved ones.

  • that..... THAT.... was the deepest nostalgia i've ever felt. this game is so familiar, yet so mysterious... does anyone else realize that practically nothing in this game that you question is ever explained, it's like it invades your mind and the story follows you into your real life.

  • @italiaboy1123 i know exactly what you mean man

  • @italiaboy1123 I feel it to, untill now. This game kinda weird ones. I play grandia II and breath of fire IV but this game is really diffrent. My bro said, in this game "god make god" then "god killing god". I still can't figure out why harley leaves sergie, and why she is crying at that time. It's like an abstract painting, everyone got their own ending if you finish it with chrono cross element attack ^^V.

  • @bangroji somewhere in the game they explain that harley is one of the 7 dragons, thats why she leaves, cause she doesn't wats to fight her brothers or something, and she was crying cause she liked serge

  • @bangroji i don't think harley HAS to leave serge though... they'res SO many different paths in this game it makes me feel like if i play it again and again that in the end i still won't have played the whole experience

  • @italiaboy1123 SPOILER ALERT

You can stay with her if you stay with Lynx's body.

  • @italiaboy1123 Like you could never possibly choose all paths.... unless you dropped liked 1000 hours into 10+ play throughs

  • @Smokinalotofpot You didn't have to drop 1000 hours in bro. You could use the time egg to save yourself at least 900. Not like I wouldn't mind playing this game for all those hours anyway. The music is just that good.

  • @bangroji ***GIANT SPOILER ALERT***

Harle is the 7th dragon, created the night of the electromagnetic storm. While FATE was offline, and Serge was becoming the Arbiter of the Frozen Flame, the splintered Dragon God created Harley. Her sole purpose was to get close to the Frozen Flame and obtain it for the Dragons, so they could win the war between Chronopolis and Dinopolis. She was crying at the time because she's come to genuinely care for Serge and had no choice in her actions.

  • @italiaboy1123: CC actually got bad rep cos of this. And it's really stupid. Just cos some ass wipes don't understand it, doesn't mean anything. This game it's a masterpiece in every sense, gameplay, graphics (consider this game it's 12 years old!), music, system and the CG, it's a perfect 10. If people are stupid and cannot interpret a complex story, please, keep playing COD.

  • First time maybe leena, then kid, but why finally i realize that i am in love with Harley? What Harley saw when she and lynx burn that house?

  • greatest game and soundtracks of all time

  • Is this the music that played after the burning Orphanage scene? That scene was incredibly emotional.

  • @GeminiBreaker Yes, it plays after the burning Orphanage scene. It also played in the scene when Harle leaves the party.

  • man, what happened to games? RPGs just kinda died after the PS2 gen >.>. Barely any good ones anymore (I only seem to have fully enjoyed Lost Odyssey from this gen)

  • @Sammy102093 In terms of emotional and meaningful storyline and such, nearly all modern jrpg fails at it. As overall high quality game, Tales series are rocking.

  • @Sammy102093: Know why? Cos almost all the EX Squaresoft team was involved in that game. ;)

  • Amo esta cancion!!

  • I have never played this game, and I'm not really that much into RPG's, but I must say that this game's soundtrack is breautiful, my favourite ones are this one, Time's scars, and At the shore of dreams.

  • I was so happy when I found a real copy of this game at the local gamestore near my college. I bought it without even hesitating. Its been a long search for me to find this. Only a few games can touch a person deeply as this, Legend Of Mana, or Lost Odyssey.......

  • Listen to this piece, I suddenly remember the scene when Serge's promise to Kid when he traveled to the past and then I remember the wedding photograph of Kid in the end-game...

Girlfriend asked "what are you smiling at?", I answer "I will never left your side, I promise". That's how I've got married.

  • When I listen to this song it feels like your soul is trapped in a prison and when 0:50 reaches it feels like your soul is released and you can just fly away into another world and you don't even need the astral amulet.

The great Yasunori Mitsuda what a legend. Greatest game I ever played in my life. God the Nostalgia.

    Good times.

  • It's actually: "The Girl Who Stole The Stars."

Sounds like a title for a badass book or movie no?

  • This reminds me of the time, I decided to let let Kid die, and as a result i got the most badass dual sword wielding rapist as a party member.

  • Such a beautiful song, for those who may not know the singer is the very same lady who sang the ending theme song Noriko Mitose.

There's a very nice fan dub made of Kid's telling Sarge her past during the camp fire scene with this song playing in the background if anybody is interested. Her performance is pretty powerful in my opinion.

    watch?v=Ez7wNTztF1g

  • Mitsuda and Uematsu have both given me indescribable joy from their music over many years, even well after I played the games they were in. The amazing music made the games they composed for so immersive many people can visualize them playing the game again vividly listening to the tracks, know exactly where in the game they are, and what they themselves were doing IRL when they got there. Just beautiful.

  • After reading a few comments, i feel fine with myself by not being the only man out there to whom this song brings some tears out sometimes

  • Comment removed

  • @Mystarfire123 Im not sure if youll ever see this comment but I read this and was just sadden cus Im on the verge of losing my only parent and I dont know what to do, but your still hanging in there so Im going to do my best too.

  • @Mystarfire123 you are very lucky.

  • The feeling I get from this song is of a little girl watching her mother die on a sickbed. Who says video games aren't art?

  • @xiperXIX: Only idiots would say video games aren't art! It shows a lack of understanding of what art is. A video game entails just about every kind of art that exists! Writing, drawing, music, 3D modeling is like electronic sculpture, architecture, design, graphic design, pixel art, acting. What else does a game need to be considered perhaps the biggest and most complete type of art package of all?

  • @VampyricalCurse This. I couldn't have said it better myself. Cheers, mate!

  • I played this song for my cat before she was incinerated in the oven I put her in. So sad she is not here anymore to listen

    RIP ;_;

  • @Vxpiriax Nou.

  • I remember buying this soundtrack and listening to it loads. Still the best game OST every created. Mitsuda is a genius.

  • @benendobreadhead

It baffles me how Mitsuda hasn't made a soundtrack that even comes close to this one since.

  • This song is beauty at is purest...oh man...

  • 10 people didnt have childhood... this is the most beautiful song from this epic game..and the scenes where it's played... i almost cry each time i hear this song :(

  • I am going to play it and many other psx rpg titles that i never had the chance to play when i was growing up.

  • first ps game i've ever played. I was what, 5 when i first played it, but even then it's always been so purely emotional. Everything about it is just so beautifully made especially the music and backgrounds ; u ; it's been so many years but it's always been one of those games i couldn't forget unlike so many other games i had played. There needs to be more games like this!

  • I have no words to describe how epic this song and game is...

Squaresoft and chrono cross forever! <3

  • Just made a 1000 click on "Like" button, but it should be "Love" cause that's the closest word human language can describe my feelings for the music from this game!!!

  • Bah! I saw it has 999 likes and clicked the like button in hopes of seeing it roll over to 1,000, but it won't work. I must've liked this last time I came to view it. :P

Still a wonderful listen after all these years...

  • Why is it that Chrono Cross has something generally depressing about it? It's like that one game that makes everyone burst out in a nostalgia-fueled happy-sadness? I used to watch my sister play all the final fantasy games and this one, and this is this one game I always loved to watch her play.

  • Uwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! Someday I'll get an autograph of Yasunori Mitsuda.

  • I'm crying! Oh my god, it's so sad! I listen to it everyday because it's my dead boyfriend's favorite song. He died of cancer not to long ago and I still cry. I can't get over him! No one has been able to talk to me without me crying or collapsing. I miss him so much! It's like my whole world was ripped to shreds. Like everything I knew was just ripped away from me. Like a small child being left in a box on the street.......Where has my love gone? Why did the Lord take him from me?! My Fakir....

  • The only video game I've ever cried over.

If only they made more games like this.

The games today just don't even compare.

  • For the ten people that disliked...HOW FUCKING DARE YOU!

  • This song plays during Kid's back story ;_;

  • i wish i could could finish the game. best music ever to exist

  • never played anything in the chrono series but after this one song i want to play ALL of them.

  • @waxyragy12 I highly suggest it they're AMAZING games.

  • @waxyragy12 Chrono cross is my second favourite game time of all time, I'd definitely recommend it. First being xenogears. Yasunori mitsuda does the soundtrack for both of them.

  • MY FAV. GAME... CHECK OUT MY VIDEOS TO VIEW FULL STORY OF CHRONO CROS...

  • Chrono Cross is a game you don't want to end. This soudtrack proves it.

  • An amazing game with a ridiculously good soundtrack

  • Very powerful song

  • Awesome song from an awesome game. ^_^

  • the almighty radical dreamer =)

  • When ever i hear this song I feel like i am going to burst into tears! This game is just simply...BEYOND AMAZING!

  • aaagh esa escena me hizo llorarrr :(

  • You know, I cry every time i listen to this song, me and my brother use to play this game.. We loved it, till one day he passed away.. We never finished it, When i finished it i bursted out in tears, I said to myself " I passed it brother, just for you"

    RIP <3 :'(

  • @915chronocross I feel you T_T

  • @915chronocross cry for your brother TT

  • @915chronocross You just made me cry,

  • 90% of this game musics are kinda sad. From these 90%, 100% r epic.

  • @915chronocross My brother is really sick now and maybe me too. He got tuberculosis. Yah, long time ago this game made us grown bigger. From his understanding about the plot, i know how clever he is. It's not just about ending the game, but understanding the story, that's RPG.

  • Comment removed

  • @bangroji

Take care. I hope that your brother gets well soon. And that you stay well. My grandpa had tuberculosis so I got tested for it but didn't have it. My grandpa got better from it, and I hope your brother does too.

It's great to have brothers, and siblings. My half brother and me both like video games. I want to move to where he is sometime soon so maybe when he's not so busy we can play video games together.

  • @915chronocross shit man, thats as beautiful as it is tragic. I'm actually tearing up thinking about it.

  • Comment removed

  • @915chronocross im so sorry... u made me burst some tears... i´ve played this game twice, and now playing new game+. all of small things about the game, like weapons, techs, characters... they are nothing compared to the way it makes people change the way of thinking, and how this game give moments to remember... im pretty sure your brother was happy that you passed it, he was there playing with you, trying to do the right move... i wish i could have such relationship with my brother. greetings

  • @raibhulmago33 well said man...u almost made me cry :)

  • @915chronocross thats sad but its funny how the thumbs up was 101 when i replied 101 looks like lol

  • @915chronocross the thumbs up was at 101 when i replied 101 looks like lol..sorry for your loss

  • @915chronocross I love this game in all its aspects it's rich story, its vibrant visuals, its innovative and enjoyable gameplay, and its soulful music. But now, to hear your story I appreciate it even more and without even knowing you your story is some deep stuff, man. Good on you for finding the inner strength to finish it after that; i know he was there with you all the way. I'm raising my glass of Guinness to you both : )

Bring a Rose from my part to his grave

    RIP 915chronocross's brother.

  • @915chronocross im sorry about your brother, u made me think of my younger brother who passed away 2 years ago </3 it made me cry once again..

  • nostalgic...<3

  • This song makes me cry for some reason. It's so sad but so good.

  • Youtube Didnt Ruin the music in this Vid.

The Music Was just too Beautiful.

  • man... this song alone brings back so many memories. back when games has alot more meaning than today(imo). ahh... how nostalgic...

  • a true masterpiece of a game, they don't make those anymore...T.T

  • lol these songs make me feel nostalgic for a game ive never played in my life!!!

  • Whoa, Nostalgia, down boy.

  • The more music I listen to, the more I realize that these incredible pianists, violists, and guitarists that play these incredible pieces at amazing speed have nothing compared to something as breathtaking as this is. I always find myself coming back to music like this, and I shed a tear of nostalgia every time :).

  • @aznargo

Well said, that's it: the soul and beauty of music is not in speed or tehnique... it has its roots in something much deeper that comes from the "soul" of the composer... or perhaps the Universal Consciousness that all humans share.

  • Chrono cross not a game....

    this is a world...

    we world

  • @RagnarokMyLife Yeah mean somehow this "Game" is more than that, people can say i'mma freak but this game got something special

  • @betoxexexe Chrono cross in we heart .

i remember a felling when play chrono cross.

a special fell form my heart.

  • @betoxexexe i know what you mean

  • we need to make petitions so that we can get square enix to go remake games like this, FFVII, Dragon Warriors 7, Xenogears, Tactics, Chrono Trigger, etc. The RPG franchise that used to be is on the road to extinction.

  • WTF...10 people dislike

    chrono cross in we heart....

  • This music is so hauntingly beautiful. You can feel the emotions of sadness conveyed through the child-like choral chants, strings, piano and woodwind. It's a testament to the talent of Mitsuda, and his love for the Chrono series.

  • chrono cross has the most perfect soundtrack in the history of gaming. just beautiful

  • The sight of the burning orphanage was the first instance of a game bringing me to tears. I'm man enough to admit that.

  • @orsinox I shed a single tear at the scene right after, the one where Serge and Kid are on the hill over looking the burning orphanage

  • instant sadness when this comes on, ugh. poor kid...

  • @frikidashit

Siii! Yo igual, tengo muchas ganas de jugarlo! Increíble soundtrack!

  • @OkitaAoyagi Yo se de donde puedes conseguirlo =)

  • Where is the love button

  • @frikidashit where is the "most beautiful song i've ever heard " button?

  • I Love Chrono Cross~~

    We Love Chrono Cross~~

  • Brilliant.

  • Lucahjin....... :(

  • Mitsuda wins with this one.

  • 10 people have absolutely no music sense
