Gay ass tire fry! I'd rather see it hook up and go! How many guys achieve mega HP and wish it wouldn't do that! The brakes are for keeping you out of the weeds, not tread depth!
This car has the hemi that I thought dodge should have used in the SRT Challenger when it first came out, the 392. This one is just awesome. Looks, sounds, and just is, great. Although, I'd swap that green for hemi orange
usually i'm a chevy guy but this is one sick mopar car, love that green, and sounds great, and yeah all cars need a rev limiter to a certain rpm limit or it might damage the internal components
all modern fuel injected car have rev limiters to prevent them from over reving and causing engine damage. But this one is different. Its heavily modified and probabaly has about a 7,000 rmp limiter.
@2014Challenger In case you didn't notice, this is not a stock challenger. Its a purpose built race car with a limited RPM set by its massive race ignition.
I agree with the fact that the challenger is too heavy, is geared way too high, and is far too soft to be a sports car. But I think that it still looks pretty good. Chrysler needs to make the car at least 500lbs lighter, put in a live rear axle and a decent posi or locker. Make it a mans car...Not an old mans car.
chyrsler made a drag package challenger....they're pretty rare, there is one not too far from me for like 80 grand though. they come with a solid rear axle and are like 1000lbs ligthter.
i heard this Targa concept you could build through the mopar catalog. which if i ever get the money i will do that. this car just screams "bring on the WRXs"
Actually i haveto disagree with d17a2's comment down there...the Hemis in all new the chrysler/dodge cars and trucks arent actually Hemis at all, its just a trademark name put on the engine, there's no actual hemispherical design aspects about them, they just updated and re-named their Magnum engine line, and personally i think Dodge needs a serious overhaul on the powertrain, the RT should be equiped with what the SRT8 has at least
One final note, i SO wish that color was a factory option
i totally agree about the engine lineup...the base engine should be the 5.7, RT model should have the 6.1, and the SRT8 should have the 392 Crate Motor. the lineup now just doens't traditionally compete the way the old lineup did
They shouldn't drop the the V6 engine however but maybe put it as an option in say a way lighter vehicle.
Yeah, i love the new Challengers im just kinda disappointed with the performance (in comparison to the competition) it probly wouldnt be to bad if they offered a 3.70s rear like the Mustangs so they could really utilize those horses, the cars also do need their own frame so they can be made smaller and lighter rather than just a four door car with only two doors, i do think they look the best though, the interiors are bland but admittedly they actually are reminisent of the original challengers
i'm not quite sure what dodge was thinking when they made the car. i think it was kinda aimed toward guys who drove the challengers when they were growing up and now that they're old they want a smooth riding vehicle thats also fast for what it is.
the R/T has a little more options when it comes to the axle ratio though, 3.73s, 3.92s, and the 3.06s.
the SRT8 just needs some serious weight reduction.
it does have those options? well thats cool i never really knew i just heard of their standard 3.42s or somethin...i really think that Dodge expected better performance out of the Challenger, it was a great performance car but they really rushed the SRT model, expecting it to draw in people who were just sick of seeing only Mustangs in the field, it had a lot of bugs that werent ironed out they shoulda released the R/T in 08' with the 6.1L and in 2009 added V6 SE and a super performance SRT
the SRT8 comes with the 3.06s and i'm not sure if you can a different ratio though. i heard something about dodge putting the 3.92 on the SRT8 but wasn't sure.
well i don't think anyone can argue about looks. the challenger absolutely rocks in this aspect. but dodge either needs to increase the output of the motors they got now, decrease weight alot, or move the 6.1 down to the RT. yeah they're fast, but they need to CRUSH people in the 1/4 times like they did in the late 60s, early 70s
Ah man i couldnt tell ya, i dont think they kept performance records in 71' like they do now, haha, nowadays dealers themselves will give you quarter mile times and shit hahaha
And man, kinda off subject but close, i just went out for the night and got to see a black SS 2010 Camaro up close parked right next to an 07' or so Mustang, jesus dude the pictures and videos dont do it justice, in person those Camaros have looks that kiiillll, that Mustang just couldnt draw my attention at all haha
i been seeing alot of those camaros in person lately...silver or red ones....they are SS's too. those things are SMALL compared to what they look to on the net. i know i'll catch heat for this but the challenger is actually smaller than it looks too atleast i think it is. the Mustangs eh about what i thought they were.
I know what you mean, the Challengers look a lot higher class in person than you would imagine looking at them online and the Camaros seem tiny compared to how people talk about them, then you see a Mustang and its cool but there's just not a whole lot of difference between seeing it on the net and seeing it in person, at least not like the Camaro and Challenger
i'm sorry but rev limiters are there for a reason....just don't hold it there for 5-10 minutes is all
holding it against the rev limiter for a little bit will not hurt the engine regardless of what most people think. that reminds me of so called experts saying never to go past 1/3 throttle in break in. hey morons you need to hold it wide open to make sure everything seats properly just don't beat it is the thing.
out of the 3 men muscle cars, challenger chevy cam ss and the stang, i prefer the chevy cus it has a better fitted exhaust sound, and better then average road grip plus that mean body kit, weighs 500kg less then the challenger too, ily gm
FYI, the Camaro is only about 200 pounds less than the Challenger, 500kg less, no way, thats 1100 pounds. The camaro is approx.3800 pounds adn the Challenger is supposed to be 4000 pounds, but my shipping papers state that mine is 3900 pounds.
