@wegotladies well that politics for you. getting people to vote for someone who acts against voter's beliefs. look at US for extreme, obvious example how people get stiched by both sides. Australia is far from perfect and heading in that direction but we are far from them at the moment. the main things that annoys me seriously with the liberals is that they got to be actually classical liberal, for free market capitalism and want aust. to be a leader and not yes men to the UK, US etc.
every country has a surplus and ours is tiny by comparison ... why bother being negative about every little detail? don't you get tired of the non-stop whining?
@MrReco12 ...... I have posted Australia's economic data from the last budget. If you cannot understand it, that is fine. If you do not believe it, that is fine, If economists believe that he is the best in the world, I am fine with that ..... it is just that it is a joke and a very sad joke at that!!!! But I guess these were the same morons who thought interest rates were going to be jacked up again in Australia .... the same morons who thought that the $AU was going to be worth $US1.50
@MrReco12 ...... if the best Treasurer in the world misses their budget estimate of Revenue by -$12B, and NPW by -$40B (-$25B less thant 60-days from EOFY) ...... well all I can say is " I do not know why Countries pay their Treasurers!!!!"
@MrReco12 why would i get economic advice from angry anderson. to me, there's johan norberg (Cato institute), dan mitchell (cato institute), peter schiff. cato institute has an aussie woman, sallie james, working there as a trade policy analyst.
@MrReco12 ...... so the best treasurer in the world has just increased the National Debt by almost $30B in the MYEFO 2011-12 ...... that's up almost $50B in 12-months ...... that's $175B in 4-years. Just so he can produce a budget with a surplus that increases debt. The man is a joke!!!
Part 3 .... This is the second time in a row the intelligent, unbiased, brilliant minds in the Treasury have underestimated the decline in Net Financial Worth. They used to be so accurate at these estimates. Both times it has been a result of underestimating Government Liabilities. How is it that these intelligent, unbiased, brilliant minds in the Treasury can underestimate Total Liabilities by approximately -$25B, 2-Years in a row, less than 2-months before then End of Financial Year. AMAZING
Part 2 ...... Remember this budget was approved and rubber stamped by the intelligent, unbiased, brilliant people in the Treasury. The same intelligent, unbiased, brilliant people who found a BLACK HOLE of up to $10.6B in the Oppositions Budget over 4-years. I am still wondering how the intelligent, unbiased, brilliant Treasury missed the massive decline in Net Financial Worth that was budgeted for -$160.6B in the 2010-11 Budget, -$176.6B in the 2011-12 Budget, yet plummeted to -$200.8B
Part 1 ...... Australia has been burdened with a pathetic Labor Government who inflated revenue figures to cover their wasteful spending. Revenues actually increased by approx. $20B in 2010-11 which is equivalent to revenue increases before the GFC. Unfortunately the Labor Government budgeted for an impossible target of $321.8B but only attained $309.9B. Meanwhile budgeted expenses increased by $1.5B resulting in a Fiscal Balance of -$51.5B instead of -$39.6B
@shaunmpc at least the Liberal Party allows free commenting and free debate on their You Tube channel... unlike the REAL fascistic communists at the labor party channel !!!
Could not agree more, the real bogans on here are the union hacks with an IQ as small as their shoe size.Facts are facts not dreams or lies, and Australians Voted in Howard time and time again, he and Costello fixed the $mess and brought down unemployment, remember 11% for over 10 years..yeah, an Opposition opposes..Rememebr Beasley Labors most successful loser, and Roll-back of the GST, which Howard won an election on. We demand an Election NOW Gillarrd..No Carbo Tax.
Sadly I would rather be fined then vote for any of the fuckwits that are in politics at the moment. They seem to be more concerned with opinion polls and sound bytes then actually doing anything positive for the people they are suppose to be representing.
Never mind that the stimulus spending help minimize the effects of the Global Collapse on Australian families. Never mind Government Net Debt is expected to peak at 6.4%, while Canada's Government Net Debt (a similar) is around 30%. All that matters is Wayne Swan fails to deliver a surplus. Sadly, this is what politics appears to be coming to. Where we elect our government based on a simply figure of surplus or deficit, not what policies are being put forward by the opposition.
Wayne Swan is definitely the worst treasurer Australia has ever seen. Wayne Swan failed to stop the Global Financial crisis, a crisis commonly labelled as the worst since the Great Depression. More importantly, he failed to keep the budget in a surplus! He irresponsibly led the budget outcomes for 3 (or 4) years to be deficits. What horror! Never mind the fact that a large proportion of the deficit was due to a decrease in revenues (210 billion over 4 years).
Mr reco. You are a fine example of a labor green voter. Full of shit, take credit for liberal groundwork, and deny the wasteful ineptness of this current excuse for govt. There is always a fuckwit in a groud or a moron with a keypad, and you fool are such right here. Total moron.
NO your views are backed up by journalists opinions not by fact. You haven't been around long enough to know. I lost my job through "the recession that we had to have" and guess what Paul Keating won that award too but keep that fighting spirit up, we need healthy debate to keep both sides of politics honest regardless of your political leanings.
Wheels magazine voted the Leyland P76 and the JB Camira cars of the year LOL. they both turned out to be lemons just like this idiot has turned out to be a "lemon lime and bitters". If I ran my personal budget like this moron runs Australia's finances the bank would take my house within the month. Remember "The recession we had to have" this arshole is writing a similar speech "The recession of the carbon tax grab"
@MrReco12 Obviously You could not understand the deeper meaning of the comments I made due to your ineptness. But you are a Labor/Green voter so that is to be expected. Be sure not to breath out or the icecaps might melt.
@MrReco12 ...... (PART 1) your view is backed up by the same economists who wrecked the EU Economy. Wow!!!! You must be so proud. My view is backed up by the 2010-11 budget figures that were released yesterday. Unfortunately journalists do not report all budget figures, because they are simply too ignorant or too lazy to go through the documents to uncover the liany of deceit and cacophony of obfuscated data that found in the budget.
Under Peter Costello Australia experienced: Lowest unemployment in 33 years Lowered interest rates Increased wages Increased pensions Provided better living conditions Created more funding for health, education, defence & transport Lowered inflation Restored Australia's AAA rating Wiped $100b of Labor created debt. Where's is Costello's award?
Euromoney Mag was the same goof who labelled Lehman Bros as the worlds best bank before it imploded. Yeah, Wayne is the best Financial wizard on the planet, in his own lunch box.
Hey Wayne, give credit to Peter Costello you fool. It was 12 years of prudent management of the economy by the Liberals that got us through the GFC, not you pulling our the Amex and putting the next two generations into debt.
The Rudd-Gillard-Brown experiment is OVER. Election NOW
@TheBeaveropoulos He does when it comes to summing up why Australia is in a good position at the moment, financial reforms of Hawke/Keating and Costello.
@ZOOFLEET Two party preferred on the Australian Electoral Commission's website states that the ALP got 50.12% compared to 49.88% for the Coalition. ALP got more votes and the ALP won over the independents to form minority government. Case closed really you lost suck it up. Oh and the greens won 11% of the vote with 1.4 million votes.
Why for squandering the resources boom on middle class welfare. Costello got what he deserved, leaving parliament, after being defeated, in disgrace without ever being acknowledged by economists as a half decent treasurer.
Even Hugo Chavez did better than Costello: in 2004 the Venezuelan economy grew by 18%!
This moron with NO economic experience...thinks he knows what to do, just keep borrowing Labor on our Credit card...yet again....Just WHO are these idiots who vote for Labor, honestly they have no more intelligence than their shoe size...WE WANT AN ELECTION NOW!, Tony Abbott when you get in quickly call a double dissolution of BOTH Houses for any reason, Australian's WILL understand and put you back in quickly...That way we are rid of the Senate Greens at the same time.
The surplus was their because of the resources boom, not because of Howard(who wasted it on middle class welfare and wasteful middle class welfare) .Costello didnt get an award because he rode on the back of the resources boom and squandered it.
Swan, as stated by Euromoney and economists all over the world, saved us from recession!
Economists gave us this recession, they gave us the massive debt, and now we reward them with prizes!! I am not sure that many retirees would agree with your statement.

Part 5 ..... What Joe Hockey said in the video is correct!!! The problem is the profligate spending of the Labopr Government.
In 2007-08, Expenses were projected for the 2010-11 Budget at $272.7B.
In 2008-09, Labor massively increased Expenses Projections for the 2010-11 Budget to 323.1B
The 2010-11 Budget Outcome for expenses were $365.1, still at or above Government Stimulus Rates.
So ..... What happens if Europe falls over??? What happens if America falls over??? More Stimulus??

Debt Increase 2007-08 to 2010-11 = $127B
NPW Decrease 2007-08 to 2010-11 = $183B
Liabilities Increase 2007-08 to 2010-11 = $210B
To me this looks like a MASSIVE Capitalisation of Expenditure
