God knows why they decided to drop this song a semi-tone for the stereo version because from hearing this one, I decided to use some software to speed up the stereo version to the exact speed this correctly recorded mono version is................and that's the way it's gonna stay! And I still LOVE the Beatles Mono Masters - very interesting finds in those tracks compared to the stereo ones!
@leaftechno The mono mix was sped up as the Beatles wanted it to sound. The stereo release you hear was mixed without the Beatles and so is different, at normal speed. It makes Paul sound younger, as in When I am 64.
Every time I hear She's Leaving Home it makes me feel bad about leaving for college in the fall, but it's just such a great song I have to listen to it.
I'm so blown away by how different this sounds!!! Sgt Pepper in mono is so much better! Too bad stereo is cheaper so I got all the Beatles albums in stereo but not mono :/ oh well I'll wish for the mono remasters on my birthday, haha! Thanks for posting!
the Beatle's life is the most inspiring life lived and out lived, after you read the biography of them by Bob Spitz your life can never be the same again
she's leaving home sounds amazing, oh my days it sounds fab compared to the stereo, as does lucy in the sky with diamonds <3 (btw, im 14 ... some "youngsters" have taste :P)
This is stunning in remastered audio. This is powerful music. Martin was right: "You haven't heard this album until you've heard it mono" Go figure....
She's Leaving Home sounds different in mono than it does in stereo. It sounds more tragic and symphonic which works with the song better than the stereo version which sounds more upbeat.
when u really listen to the shes leaving home song's lyrics, you will find that they are really very sad. that dosnt change the fact that its one of my favorite songs.
this song in mono version, in my opinion is one of the best beatles songs written, i find you can like feel the emotion in the song when paul sings it, and the instruments are much clearer than the stereo version
@TheHeavymetalpenguin i honestly think the mono vs stereo is a big deal and the youngsters really need to listen to the actual genius that is the beatles i grew up listening to the 1987 stereo mixes when i started listening to mono mixes i was blown away
This band had many disagreements, and arguements. That is just human nature. One debating and all that. Just glad they did not let their egos get in the way when it came to the music. After hearing about how the Let it Be sessions went. Amazing music came out of those sessions. By that time the band just was not getting alone like they use to. Let it Be is their best album IMO.
@Him207times examples...? I mean, ego was there, but look at Abbey Road: the greatest Beatles album imo, if not at least one of the top 3...the band was barely functioning as a band at that time!
The vocals are not repitiched on the mono version. On the stereo version the playback is slowed, thereby pitching the vocals down. It's the opposite of what was typically done by the Beatles.
@Maztuhmind How do you lose an accent? Did you leave as a child and develop a different accent? I never understood that; I've never had a problem mimicking an accent

and what's with all the asinine banter? It was btichin' music then, it was bitchin' music 20 years ago, it's bitchin' music NOW, shut up already and just enjoy it.
Very much agreed, that of all the Beatle-supervised mono mixes of all lp's up to the white album, the one of Pepper seems to benefit the most. Interesting is that this particular track seems a little sped up from the stereo version too. Awesome!
My twin brother (we just turned 54) had me guess which was the 87 re-do from stereo and which was the new one, and I LOST! God, I've got a tin ear, and am not worthy to be a Beatles fan. NOT WORTHY!
'she's leaving home' is in an entirely different key here. and i love it! this is the way the beatles wanted us to hear this album. and now i understand why.
Oh man I have listened to the White album it is soooo much fuckin better in MONO can't wait for my Mono box set!!!! It still hasn't come inm the mail yet.. She's leaving home is brill!!!~ thank God for you tube :)
only real difference i can tell on a speaker is that john's voice is more upfront but in all these remasters they really pumped up the bass sound, but im sure paul didnt mind that
I just really love that swirling, left-to-right craziness and almost cacophony they achieved in the stereo mix. Very psychedelic, more chaotic feel. But very true, I'm SO pleased with the re mastering of Paul's bass. SOMEONE working on the remasters knew that Paul was an excellent bass player and needed to be heard. XD
My God, they weren't kidding when they said ''You've never heard Sgt. Pepper until you have heard it in Mono"! I thought they were crazy, but now I get what they mean! O_O Amazing!
wow, i never really warmed to 'she's leaving home' before, but i really like the mono version. starting to regret my decision to get stereo box instead...
