  • My favourite band and one of my favourite songs. Simply great!!

  • The sound is a little wispy for an official release. At least when I put the YouTube volume up to max. Could this be fixed?

  • with the tall rocks in the beginning i thought to myself "where are all the cheesy drums and band members?" But then toward the middle that's when they popped out with all the drums and instruments out in the middle of nowhere. Then it was TRULY my cheesy 80's music video I was looking forward to. HOOYAH!!!! :)

  • musica que no conoce el tiempo es exelente

  • non passa mai di moda questa musica! stupenda!

  • super

  • seper

  • <3 Warren's smile!

  • sounds a bit like U2.

  • @sudokuwkroku but Ultravox have got talent.

  • @sudokuwkroku the U2 similarity was probably intentional -- not only in sound, but in visuals. Compare this video with U2's New Years Day. Then, after that, check out Big Country's "Wonderland" video. There you have it: three chiming anthems of 80s idealism -- slowly succumbing to frostbite out in the snow.

  • @bleuroo yes, you're right, they are very similar but I can't find anywhere Big Country's "Wonderland" video. can you help me?

  • @sudokuwkroku unfortunately no, I haven't got a copy of it. The Wonderland video was here a few months ago -- but you're right, it seems to have been taken down now. Luckily though, there are a lot of Big Country fans on YouTube. I'm sure someone will upload it again soon.

  • That place where the video was shoot is somewhere in the Scottish highlands?

  • @ernstmott Callanish Stones in Outer Hebrides.

  • @Xibateew Cool! some of my ancestors are from that area!

  • @Xibateew looks terribly cold, just like here!

  • Thank you Ultravox for daring to aim for the stars, for never giving in, and putting your heart and soul into your music to create something truly beautiful even when it may never be fully appreciated or successfully in the mainstream....What an inspiration!! They are the finest new wave band of all time in my opinion.

Right up there with Kraftwerk, Gary Numan, Duran Duran, OMD, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Talk Talk, Alphaville, A Flock of Seagulls, Kim Wilde, and Missing Persons....

  • @DuaLeaD Thank you; no one has expressed this the way you just have; I tip my hat to you! Masterful, meaningful and memorable. When the "chips are down" - blast this song!

  • wish it was this cold outside right now ... but this summer bullshit just started ... well at least each day we're getting closer to the winter again

  • Aaah.. my youth, like Midge's hair, has long since gone. But I still listen to their albums on a regular basis. One of the best male singers ever.

  • undoubtedly the greatest Scottish prog rock/electro pop fusion band of the 1980's....

  • Too bad Ultravox didn't explored this rocker style more. They could have been even bigger.

  • Finalmente l'ho trovato un video e una musica bellissimi, ritorno giovane!

  • men knew how to wear jeans in the 80's :-)

  • mmm, the man knows how to wear a great pair of jeans. oh yeah I love the song too!

  • @jaytotheell

Yes, I'd like to thank Midge Ure for wearing the tightest possible jeans. GROWLLLLLLL!!!!! The man was hot!

  • bigest era of music, poor bieber generation.. todays eletronic music also couldnt be compered to those from '80s

  • Somehow the sound is muddy. Is that the best they could post?

  • @Dracopol yeah I have heard better with other posts of this video unfortunately they shut those ones down :-(

  • how does one dislike a special song like this?..awesome track from u-vox

  • love this- such an inspirational song :)

  • To my sentimental friends- that one small day is today! Make it happen!

  • Fantastic song and video!

  • exelente cancion! mi favorita de ultravox!

  • One of my favorite videos, would love to go to the Isle of Lewis to visit The Calanesh Stones. Awesome xxx

  • Thanks for posting this thank you so much.

  • One day where I wouldn't feel my senses die

Where nothing made me hang my head and cry

One day where I could see myself as others do

Where I could feel the strength of love at hand

One day where I didn't die a thousand times

Where I could satisfy this life of mine

One day where every hour could by a joy to me

And live a life the way it's meant to be

  • How many times has it turned against you

How many times will they walk away

One day where I didn't die a thousand times

Where I could satisfy this life of mine

One day where every hour could be a joy to me

And live a life the way it's meant to be

  • @AlysounRI Thank you for the lyrics; it demonstrates your love and passion for a song and a video that is as timeless now; as it was when created ('80s?). Might you help me with a question on the meaning of the section beginning circa minute 2:40 +? I am not embarrassed to suggest to everyone that in these background images; a message was issued way back then that applies to global issues in one specific area of the world and it's not where there is ice and snow; but barren - yes. Please help

  • Pancho, those images are quick.

Some seem to me to be from other Ultravox videos, I see Hymn and others.

For a stunning Ultravox video see "We all fall down" - powerful and beautiful and poignant and cutting all at the same time. Sorry I could not be of more help.

  • Chorus: One day where I didn't die a thousand times Where I could satisfy this life of mine One small day One day where every hour could be a joy to me And live a life the way it's meant to be One small day How many times has it turned against you How many times will they walk away How many times have you let depression win the fight Oh my sentimental friend We'll walk as one again (Chorus)
  • They are wonderful lyrics!! "If the stack is high against you And the hammer's coming down And the time that's yours lies heavy in your hands Oh my sentimental friend The fast much reach an end Lying face down on the cold stone And they give their all to you But their all is slipping through your hands Oh my sentimental friend Your time will come again
  • love utravox and midge. even if he is wearing the brightest hat i've ever seen in a video.

  • Standing Stones with Ultravox!

  • Outstanding lyrics and footage.
