FOR SET phpMyAdmin Password Do that
1.Open XAMPP folder - X:\XAMPP\phpMyAdmin
2.Find Config.inc and opn it with Notepad
3.Find ['password'] = ' ' and write on ' ' section 'root' then save (Like that:['password'] = ' root' )
4.All is Done! Then You can go to localhost/phpmyadmin

Im doing everything the exact same thing as you do.
After i finished i delete the Install-script and click the admin button to sign in.
At the last page,where it is written to delete the install-script,i also get the information to sign in:
Username: admin
no password,i guess because,like you, i didnt choose a password during the install.
So,i try to sign in. But i cant. Its telling me that password or username are wrong.
What password do i have to use? I tried it 6 times!

@Tim9666 - I'm not sure that you even can continue without choosing a password. You had to enter this password twice in the field.

@blmcmanus24 - you can log into your backend and go to "Your site" -> "global configuration" . There you can find the ftp layer.
