  • Oh man, make a new version with detail explanation of Breakfalls...this is an awesome video....thx osss Greatings.

  • Thank you adityasandhu. Yes, this is an old video now and was never intended as an instructional video. From memory it was a quiet night at the dojo so while i played around with the camcorder the boys simply warmed up with some casual breakfalls. OK, I got stuck in towards the end, LoL. I may make some instructional break fall videos in the near future as this seems to be of interest to many budoka from throwing or projection orientated arts. Thank you once again :)

  • It doesn't make any sense if you slap your hand after your body hits the ground. It's that hand you slap that is supposed to slow you down, so your hand has to hit the ground first.

  • i like the random person without a gi

  • Awesome video! thanks for the upload!

  • Thank you. It's such an old video now yet people still seem to comment on it. I will have to make a new version :)

  • LoL. I deteted a remark "Sick counter at 4:20". God am i that bothered about a jobs worth that counts the seconds of an old video, get a life fella :). Or come train with us, guess you would not last 10 mins :))))))))))))))))))

  • sick counter at 4:22

  • Are babis allowed on here ;)

  • Thanks KenpoVideos. It's an old video now (2006). I intend recording an instructional break fall (Ukemi) video this summer.

  • Cool video, gave me some good ideas for Judo.

  • I like this as I had learned this in aikido. Kenpo practitioners should know how to do this with certain techniques.

  • Thank you, you are right. Many students want to skip drills of this nature yet to avoid injury and progress within the art you must be proficient in the art of breakfalling and even through you have been practising for years you must regular practice breakfalls.

  • i do aikido and we have more fluid and softer training in ukemi, i think the newbe is good in this video :;) interesting ideas.

  • When I learned how to do fwd rolls, it helped a lot to make a 'ring of iron' circle with my arms, tuck in chin to chest, and roll on the big X posted on my back....an aikido roll

  • I am amazed at the response this video has had considering I just through it together, thanx for your kind comments.

  • very good ukemi, thanks for sharing more power!

  • tae-kwon-doe uses these but not nearly as advance i guess you could say..but i left it i'm looking for something new to expand my horizon of martial arts knowledge

  • LOL It's helped me understand a lil more about my breakfalls. My higher dojo bro's don't always show & 2 C em work is fun but I might C em 1-3x a wk. I like the continuous flow of students movin around @ diff. cam.angles. My Sensai has been very patient wking with me considering well over a yr. ago, I said U'll nvr get me 2 do these things. I'm a sista with a nice body but apple bottom heavy & I just could'nt, would'nt do those dam rolls, falls nutn on the mats (so self coiscience). THANX guys

  • im a black belt in kenpo... great video... love the breakfalls... well advanced stuff... great job...

  • Thank you for your comment on our break fall video. When there is only a few of us training we like to keep the break fall practice less formal and more fluid.

  • breakfalls are very fun cuz i do judo and o goshi can hurt a lot

  • i do ju jitsu...but I pretty much do everything wrong. even forward rolls i mess up. last time I got hip thrown and landed on my pelvis. thought I was gonna die...but hoping to get better someday.

  • They probably know better than me, but I was taught not to fall on your elbow, around 00:50, they start doing that, couldnt it dislocate something?

  • falling on your elbow is advantageous because falling on your hands will dislocate your shoulder and tear your rotator cuff

  • ..and falling on your elbow will crush your elbow, which is quite painful.

  • there not landing on elbow , you slap the matt just before to take force out then roll down arm ( landing on elbow will dislocate shoulder or break collar bone )

  • I am learning aikido , this is a great video, Ukemi is hard but I think when you are of tall stature it is even harder, I always dread having to do the flip/roll I would be afraid of breaking my neck but I guess you lead up to it with time.

  • yea ukemi is hard in the beginning but it is infact good in a real situation, its almost like a double whammy that if someone can throw you, you can control how you fall which can be used against your opponent and counter strike

  • Et ben quelle équipe... c'est la 7ième compagnie ou quoi ?

  • i do ju jitsu to i was wondering what the name of the throw you done at 2:27 was?

  • kote gaeshi

  • i have just started jujitsu and have real trouble with breakfalls. Thanks!

  • No problem, thanks for your comments on our Ukemi video. It is a known fact that the better you become at break falling the quicker you will learn. I studied JuJitsu for 25 years to 5th degree black belt before concentrating on my Bushin system. Jujitsu is a great art and i hope that you keep at it. Regards, Professor David Wilson.

  • just relax and let your body fall and trust ur falling dont forget to slap

  • great vid!

  • Watch the guy in the green shirt.I guess he's a beginner. We all have to start somewhere. I'm not too sure of their back breakfalls though.
