Ce sont de merveilleux musiciens venus de divers horizons et qui s'accodent parfaitement dans cette musique tzigane bouleversante. T'aven baxtalé Romalé aj lacho tumaro drom !
@Romanisipunctum "Romanian folklore"?!?! That`s Gypsy music! Even the description says so: "musiques tsiganes". Why are Romanian stealing Gypsy folklore and present it as as "Romanian"? Only to sell to the stupid Westerners... Shame on Romanians!
Shame on your ingnorance! Obviously you make no distinction between rendition, plagiarism, and authorship.
Doina, Hora, Joc, Batuta et al. are Romanian creations performed in the forms mentioned above by many minorities. It's like saying, "I'm an American musician in Rome, playing the Tarantella, therefore this is an "American" dance.
@Romanisipunctum Hei, the video description, the CD cases, the concert posters, all make it pretty clear what we are listening to: "musiques tsiganes"... Can`t you see the ancient traditional Gypsy dress the musicians sport? Are you saying that it`s all a show for the stupid westerners, with a complete disregard for the Romanian folkloric heritage? Are you saying that this is cultural appropriation, cultural theft that is, all to the benefit of Western managers and the artisans they represent?
That's correct: calling Romanian music Gypsy is like calling Arab music German.
It is more than cultural appropriation, it's plagiarism.
If you take a look at so many Jewish albums, there your'll see how the Klezmer Jewish artists state in clear terms: doina, hora, sarba, joc, batuta et al. (Romanian folkloric dances in [artists' names] arrangements).
Well, they are phenomenal artists, virtuosos and deserve credit for performances. I congratulate their great renditions of these beautiful Romanian songs, but I condemn their plagiarism and NOT mentioning the fact that they are performing...Romanian music and dances. But they should give credit to the country of origin of these songs. It's common courtesy and common sense to me. BTW "Urs Carpati" means Carpathian Bear in Romanian.

This is the correct way to do it.

@Romanisipunctum Thank you for making that clear. However, how does it rhyme with you congratulating them for their performance?
