  • great drumming!

  • @23drumfreak23 Thank you very much :D

  • great vide trainning do you play dnb too

  • Hey, Thanks!

No, i don't really play DnB that much.

I try to get the basics in as many styles as possible because there are links between many styles of music.

I had been listening to some Jungle and DnB and decided to make up some beats, and this is one that i made up.

    Thanks mate.

  • Wow. I'm really liking this man. Its great to take a look into this kind of playing, because its not always conventional stuff. I really wanna try and get into this kind of playing, so you now have an other faithful follower!! Thanks for the vids man. Keep em comin!!

  • Cheers bro!

Yeah, i think it is good to learn as many different styles as possible, even if you don't play that type of music.

It all helps in the long run!

Thanks for the nice comment and i will keep plodding away with posting videos lol.

  • Great Drumming men

  • NIce Drumming men!...nice chops,...wish I had a setup like yours,...please watch my vid,...its entitled Drum Garbage,..please do leave comments,...thanks!!!1

  • Hey Dan,

Great to see another vid of you givin it the almost linear conjigalo treatment, I reckon if you added a more consistent back beat wiv your left hand and sped it up, it would definately be a wicked jungle groove.

I hope you're wearing ear plugs man! All those cymbals, you're gonna be deaf before you're thirty. keep em comin : )

  • Cheers Dean!

More consistent back beat huh? So make it double time or something?

I will take that on board thanks.

Yeah don't worry, i always use ear plugs when playing, but thanks for your concern mate.

I am going to do another video of Linear grooves actually, for alright28.

It might be of interest to you maybe? I will be making it today or tomorrow i think.

    Cheers

  • yeah, I can hear a Rabb influence there, and he would usually make reference to the backbeat as the groove crosses over and displaces the bar. But it's your groove Dan, do what u will and express yourself! yes, will definately check out that vid too.

  • hey Dan! once again, great beat.. reminds me of a similar beat played by Marco Minneman, very nice.. i would also say that it does remind me of jugle/break beat grooves so i think of the title as quite appropriate.. as far as the groove, it's sweet, and because it's sweet, to sweeten it up a little more :) maybe you should try instead of hitting your crashes, to hit the splashes.. try that and i think it may work out better! p.s: you are constantly improving in FTL speeds (Faster Than Light)

  • Stellios, you are being way too kind to me tonight!

Seriously man, i like hard criticism, as long as it isn't "You play like a douche dude"

Marco, in my mind is like the "master of session break beat players"

"SabianAxis" Is brilliant too on YouTube.

I only have one splash dude :(

I don't like faster i am trying to improve in light playing, but the digital camera can't pick it up : (

Thanks so much for the comment mate!

  • That definitely is better china placement, but I still keep mine lower. Mine's usually to my right, just outside of my floor tom and pretty much as low as my stand will go. The top of the cymbal sits probably like six inches above my tom. I find it easier that way.. I probably wouldn't have that china to my left. I'd put it somewhere else, but it's your preference. I'm not gonna' tell you how to set your stuff up. Everyone plays different. Good beat though.

  • Yeah, It's all personal preference man.

The small China from before is closest to you, just above the Hi Hat.

I would place my China a bit lower too, Like Thomas Haake's, but my 14" Tom is mounted from it, and if I move the setting too much, i get a really annoying vibration every time i hit the floor tom.

    Cheers Dude.

  • jungle ?!?

  • Man, you seem to put discouraging comments on all my vids.

Are you sure you should subscribe to my videos since you seem to dislike what i post, and disagree with them?

I dunno dude... Please enlighten me with a better title? I can change it now without too many views.

  • no sorry mate i don't wanted to be discouraging!

i just wanted to know why this should be jungle ... the beat is cool! but i can't ..ahm .. *spot*.. anything thats jungle in this beat.

hope you can understand what i mean

and no i don't know a better name for it i just never ever would call this jungle..

  • OK cool, thanks for the reply.

Yeah i was unsure as what to call it too. Like i said in the video i had been listening to Jungle and Break Beats and it inspired me to make a beat.

I tried to incorporate the beat and sound of bass and Bongo sounds that you can hear in Jungle and D&B on my kit.

So you can see why i had trouble naming it? This is the best i could do!

  • I like it. Very cool feel to it. I think it would sound good on electric drums too. Good to see you're doing well, Dan!

  • Hey Bill!

Thanks for your reply mate, and sorry for my lack of reply's to your videos. I have been really busy at the moment, like i mentioned on the video, and plus i finally got a band to play in!

So that has been taking time up too.

    Anyway, thanks again Bill.

  • Hey Dan!

You are welcome! Don't worry about it at all. Spend as much time away from the computer as you can. That is really good news to hear about your band. Hopefully you guys do well and have fun. Maybe we'll see a video from your eventually!

    Take care,

    Bill

  • C'mon, what's a man if he can't even stand some sweating? :P

Ye, I know you've had a hot climate there. We had the same thing here, when I was in Tuska Festival.

Anyways, effing nice beat :P I would like to hear it in digital format, as in with triggers and shit. Kinda reminds me of something that Johnny Rabb would probably compile.

Damn tough beat there. Let's make it harder and replace the two hi-hat hits (I believe you play them in 8ths?) with a quick 16th fill on the hi-hat, as in 4 hits? :D

  • Hey, it was like 35C outside, and the window is blocked up with sound proofing, so it must of been about 40C in there!

Cheers with the positive feedback bro, Yeah it would sound good with a digital format, i actually made it up on my electric kit.

I like the way, you are thinking of ways to improve it, that is always my aim.

I come up with a basic idea that people can improve and put their own feel in.

Anyway, back to the Sauna to practice. There was a load of Finns and Swedes in there earlier

  • Aye, I bet you the Swedes had already ran out from there when you got back to practice... ;)

  • Oh and dude, I'm serious:

Tighten up that splash's wingnut or something! That thing is rotating 1/4 of a circle from one hit :D

You'll have them dropping off while playing, like me!

  • I have to constantly loosen that nut on the splash, because it tightens every time i hit it.

So i don't want to crack it with it being tight. I need to put a spring under the splash.

  • Wtf it tightens by itself :DDDD

  • Yeah, when the nut spins like you see in the video it is tightening every time.

So i have to loosen it every few minutes.
