Your information is not totally wrong, but it is incomplete and partly wrong showing, you do not know what the treaty actually says: let me quote you "you need to understand what the bill ACTA is" ACTA is not a bill. It has no effect on anything. ACTA can not be stopped since it is not made by democratic institutions, and therefore it is no law either

@winnerxxl You may be a law-student, and you may technically be right in your assertions. That does not, however, quell the threat that ACTA poses to the Internet. You fail to take into consideration the volatility of law and the sporadic dispositions of judges who, by the wave of their hand, can create precedence for uncalled for legislation, or pushing the mainstream just that tiny bit further that it takes to make things like ACTA a reality.

@ZarathustraDK I do not get what the problem is, ACTA is nothing, and can never be anything. Now judge can take ACTA in consideration when judging since it is not approved by the body of the government, the congress. So, it basically changes nothing, and nobody would even know about it, if some parts of Anonymous were not misslead and paranoid because of SOPA now... we were not warned of the Kyoto protocol either - did it change anything for anybody? - nope...

@winnerxxl Kyoto protocol was not backed by any corporate interests, it was a sham put on by politicians who wanted to rally the green votes to their cause.

ACTA is nothing in the sense that a Men's Club is nothing but a club lacking the female gender. In reality it codifies intent. It streamlines the members in an oath-like submission that is everything but a written and binding agreement. That's bad enough when the population of signed countries is not made aware thereof.

They say that they "protect jobs" by curtailing counterfeit goods, yet all they do is protecting their wallet while having slavelabor in the very same countries that copy their goods stitch together most of the crap they're selling.

@ArchangelVampire I just want to say - ACTA is not a threat for anyone or anything. Take the Kyoto Protocol for instance. The countries made a "binding" agreement on decreasing their greenhouse gas emissions. (it's so not binding Canada even signed out...). Still nobody is there who is checking whether the countries really try to reach their goals. This is because it is not a fixed law that tells them to or includes punishments if you do not fulfill it. So is ACTA. SOPA tried to make ACTA law.
