The best part about Metallica is that they have most styles covered. I mean if you want heavy, you got it, but if you want bluesy, you got it, covers, good, bad, you have it all. I find that really pleasing to know that I can listen to Metallica in all moods. Compared to Slayer or Megadeth, who have been consistent with their style over time, it just gets repetitive in the long run. That's my opinion... I don't want to diss on Slayer or Megadeth, they rock too, but they're way below Metallica.
I think the "lady in red" is right, get jason back and you'll have a great album, musically load is the best album after the succes of the black one, st anger and dm suck !!!

Metal died at the end of the 80's. It wasn't Metallica's fault, it's just that the next generation coming through were listening to grunge, hip hop and alternative rock. They tried to join in but didn't fit, because that is not where they belong. Metal is back in small pockets at the moment, but will never enjoy a time like the 80's again. I would of prefered see Metallica ride out the 90's lull by becoming even heavier than the 80's. "Go against the grain until the end"

Mustaine was the heart of the thrashing metallica, when he left, cliff continued to take the music to more polished and fantastical places, but there just wasn't the hard intensity of Mustaine. When Cliff died, no one had the cred to keep Lars and Kirk on the straight and narrow of heavy metal
This why I just listen to the old Metallica, and focus on band that haven't lost there edge, Slayer, Testament, as an example. Slayer, and Testament learn to move forward, and take pride on getting on stage and kicking ass. Dave would be interesting, but they is a lot of ego, and pride on what direction to start the band. Could they reunite like Black Sabbath did? , or would there be fist fights from the past?

Who knows, I have been a loyal fan since 1987, although they did some stuff that I didn't like,( it ate me alive to not like something they did, by the way) I always remembered they are human and nobody is perfect. Death Magnetic is very good in my opinion and what they should have sounded like years ago but they finally came back to us.

Wow. The guy that says Rob is better than Cliff or Jason is on crack. Then he says that he would like to have the band to have James, Lars, Jason and Dave (after he said Rob is better than Cliff or Jason) wow. Contradicting himself. But I would go with Cliff, but since there's no Cliff. Jason is the next best person. IMO.
As for Dave, they may get to play together. Not in the same band maybe... but on stage again.

Metal died at the end of the 80's. It wasn't Metallica's fault, it's just that the next generation coming through were listening to grunge, hip hop and alternative rock. They tried to join in but didn't fit, because that is not where they belong. Metal is back in small pockets at the moment, but will never enjoy a time like the 80's again. I would of prefered see Metallica ride out the 90's lull by becoming even heavier than the 80's. "Go against the grain until the end"

well, death magnetic has some of the corniest lyrics of all of the Metallica albums (see "all nightmare long") and the music just hasn't done anything for me yet. Get dave back, shitcan Kirk. Mustaine was the heart of the thrashing metallica, when he left, cliff continued to take the music to more polished and fantastical places, but there just wasn't the hard intensity of Mustaine. When Cliff died, no one had the cred to keep Lars and Kirk on the straight and narrow of heavy metal

This why I just listen to the old Metallica, and focus on band that haven't lost there edge, Slayer, Testament, as an example. Slayer, and Testament learn to move forward, and take pride on getting on stage and kicking ass. Dave would be interesting, but they is a lot of ego, and pride on what direction to start the band. Could they reunite like Black Sabbath did? , or would there be fist fights from the past?

I'm a huge fan of Mustaine and Metallica, but that would be a ballsy and can be a destructive move. As much as I would love to see Mustaine on stage w/James and Lars, but old ghosts might creep up.
Plus their last album was average but a more positive move to the heavier stuff.

I think it is interesting that Lars and James's differences could be the causes for the crap they put out after the Black album, but I don't think Dave Mustaine would fix anything. He is not known for bringing guys together. It would be awesome if he did an album with them but it will never happen.
Of course, the guy who wnated Dave back was probably desperate because this was right after St. Anger and before Death Magnetic was even thought of.

yo pienso que el death magnetic fue un buen levantamiento, pero con mustaine simplemente sría brutal, excelente, claro está, si no se les sube el ego a la cabeza a los tres (Hetfield, Ulrich & Mustaine) sino hacerlo por salvar lo que queda de MetallicA, hacer tal vez algo con un sonido estilo Ride The Lightning o Master, pero eso es muy poco probable, pero igual nos dejaron sus primeros 6 álbums (contando el Garage Days Re-Visted)

Who knows, I have been a loyal fan since 1987, although they did some stuff that I didn't like,( it ate me alive to not like something they did, by the way) I always remembered they are human and nobody is perfect. Death Magnetic is very good in my opinion and what they should have sounded like years ago but they finally came back to us.
