I was introduced Geroge Brassens' music by my high school French teacher, perhaps 50 years ago. I am not familiar with Trenet or Sablon, but I'll check them out.
A modern singer guitarist I enjoy is Thomas Dutronc; light and fun.
I also listen to mussette and Gypsy Jazz.
Don't tell anyone but I also play diatonic button accordeon, mostly French on 2 row and Quebec on one row.
How do you happen George Brassens ? Are you french ? American are not supposed to know Brassens ! ;-)
This music I play sort of popped out of me five years ago (because of dramatic circonstances, but this is another story), and this is obviously the music I have been exposed to when I was young, so 50's and 60's in France, that percolated thru my head during 50 years.
So yes, Brassens is very present (BTW, he was a fabulous melodist).
I think this guitar suits your style perfectly. The archtop has a subtle complexity not found in a flattop. This is like your playing, a complexity masked by the illusion of simplicity. Wonderful stuff.
I think I hear a bit of Geroge Brassens... one of my favorites.
Love the relaxed mood you have here. Superb playing and sound - plus your
new guitar is a beauty to behold.
