no one hit wonder here. erule was underground before there was really a need for underground. he was underground because the only shit getting playin the west was gangster shit. "synopsis" the b-side to this single was also a classic. "listen up" and "synopsis" are two of my favorite songs of all time hands down. bought the single back in 94. he also came out with a album around 01 02 that had a few nice joints on there.

oh yeah, alot of people don't know. but erule was in a crew called the hemisphere crew with ras kass and this chick named medusa. the odd thing about erule is that he was on some 5% shit back when mostly only niggas in ny was on that. thats why, when i first heard listen up on the radio i thought he was from ny. until i saw the video. niggas was driving a six fo surrounded by palm trees LOL.

I first heard this song while i was watching the movie "KIDS"(from 1995). it was during the scene in the movie where the 4 younger teenage kids where smoking/passing a blunt while sitting on the couch talking about girls & stuff(people who saw the movie knows what i'm talking about). since then i've been hooked on this song!. good sh-t!. this real "REAL HIP-HOP", with meaning, makes sense, has a message, can understand it, & the instrumental is ridiculous(in a good way)!. so underrated!. 5/5!!!.

This is what Hip Hop is all about! This is why real heads LOVE this genre. The beat's simply calm and soothing, the flow is flawless and constant, the mixing is just as sick as DJ Babu, if not more. Everything just tightens up a fist that grasps you and takes you into a world like no other. We need a LOT more music like this!
