I LOVE Christine's voice (and choice of music) BUT
This song is SO much better in the original version by the amazing Rickie Lee Jones.
This is not meant as any criticism of Chistine, it's just that Rickie has such a unique voice and delivery, that any cover is almost BOUND to be a let-down.
I've TRIED to sing Night Train, myself (because it's one fantastic song), but came to conclusion that noone should even TRY it.
A double-edged sword: to sing songs so good that covers are a waste of time
I disagree with you there Jimmy, but probably because this was the first time i ever heard it, and this is on one of my all time favorite albums and i love McFarlane's fretless bass.
The trouble with covers is audience expectation. I know,REALLY know the oiriginal...band are perfect..pretty much spot on as to the original music...sadly Christine isn't. Brave choice though.-Rickie Lee has the scales to test the greatest vocalist "Gregson is where you're enzyme is-like it or not" ...I'd like to hear another like I heard the 1st one...top notch production...great guitar....and brilliant words
This Christine fucking Collister. She has been performing "professionally" for quite some time but evidently ilmlin wouldn't know since he don't know shit.
Nice attempt. Try something more in your range. like alanis or Black Velvet perhaps. This seemed too rushed for my understanding of this number. You have a good voice, but this is not your best avenue. Ive seen Riki and love some of her stuff I am thinking maybe if your guitar and bass slowed down it will come across better.
Christine can change from major diva to saucy imp so quickly

Some new vineyard where they fancied themselves at outdoing the Portuguese at something or other I 'spose. Stockport is Oxo-phobic

One of my very favourite Collister performances. It was this song that I first heard on the Live album. Love it.
