Bought it on Dec 14 and picture went out tonight. Was awesome while it worked.. Still thinking of getting another one because they are so cheap, is that dumb or what?
Everybody seems to be saying how Vizio's quality sux. 94 days, 18 months, kaboom... picture quality too is bad. I love it when "news" articles claim Sony and others overcharge. Um, no they don't. If anyone tells you "The store clerks fiddle with the controls", reset them yourself (most often, they were NOT fiddled with.) Lower cost brands suck because... well, they're CHEAP!!
When it comes to flat panels/TVs, if the brand starts with "S" - buy it. Otherwise, forget it.
Don't know about this model. But can tell you my Vizio VU42L does suck! It died in 94 days after purchasing it from Costco. Been waiting 2 weeks plus now for the damn thing to be fixed. Some of them might be great, but mine isn't and to me the mark of a good company is how they stand behind their product if it fails. Two weeks and counting plus 3 e-mails to Vizio with no response doesn't make me a satisfied customer. Next time I'll buy Samsung.
You're close, but it's not the same wiring, it CAN be converted, but with a converter box as you're searching for on google, so can anything else. I can convert S-Video to VGA...
"The various RGB (red, green, blue) analog component video standards (e.g., RGBS, RGBHV, RG&SB) use no compression and impose no real limit on color depth or resolution, but require large bandwidth to carry the signal and contain much redundant data since each channel typically includes the same black and white image. Most modern computers offer this signal via the VGA port."

"...Even an RGB connector to connect it to your computer."
RGB is component video cables.. which you've already mentioned two.
VGA (Video Graphics Array), is the term you were looking for.

"A VGA connector as it is commonly known (other names include RGB connector, D-sub 15, mini sub D15 and mini D15)"
VGA and Component are the same video quality/wiring, just different ends.

Wildarms7000 - No they are not. Ever see a component/VGA adapter on the market? Nope. Ever manually make an adapter? No, it does not work.
Net quality is similar (both are analog) but the process is hardly identical, nor cable ends interchangeable.

Damn, so if I type in Component to VGA in Google I don't get anything?
Oh wait.

The following is an exerpt from Wikipedia:
