  • Every generation feels his is the best............well the years from 1960-through the early 70's were the absolute best.........music , clothes, Americans actually made goods for fellow Americans, and the women.......ah the women...............what a time to come of age.......fall in love, and actually believe that you were living in heaven........to those romantics like myself...close your eyes.....your mind will now transport you back.............ah yes........that;s it...........heaven.

  • @1912Universal yeah..that's why people weren't fat asses back then...they had music to dance to..or surf to

  • This video is cool in 11 different ways.

  • "The Shotgun" was a dance move.

That is what the dancers are doing during the "bridge"

  • the the fuck is that dancer doing...the one with white

  • @DEMENTEDpandafc3s Look at the comment from ranhill about 10 pages down, that'll give you an idea.

  • Violence in sixties music. Shoot'em before he run now!!!!!

  • The ELECTIC SLIDE of the 60's! LOL!!

  • @miamiwax i questioned that comment but after watching lmao especially the battle at 1:44

  • @miamiwax LMAO~ You posted what I was thinking!

  • Party standard right here. I loved that song growing up.

  • God, this is such crap when compared to Justin Bubbles and Lady Ding-Dong....where's the talent?

And why are those people moving so weird?

  • White people can dance...to great music like this!

  • they gettin down!!!!

  • Hot hot dance tune. Let it all go...!

  • I was 19 years old when this was filmed and I can tell you, from personal experience, that if you were gonna dance to a Jr. Walker song ~ the mantra was, "bring lots of deodorant!!" Jr. Walker, "in the day" was the SHITS!

  • it's not so much white people can't dance. It's they are still dancing the same way today.

  • A South Bend, Indiana shout to my homies, Jr. Walker & The All-Stars, They were the only BAND ever signed to Motown Records until Rare Earth and they don't count! LOL! (Actually, I dug Rare Earth too,)

  • wonderful memories of good soul! x0]

  • lol don't get me wrong, but I think the chick in the white dress is doing it wrong....or right.... I loled any way.

  • The Scottie Pippen look-alike is EPIC!!

This here is one of, if not the top 5 best all-time Motown songs of all time!

  • damn white ppl had so much rhythm back in the day...

  • The Doors had no bass player and from the looks of all the old videos of Jr W the cat on organ played the bottom end. Did he use his left hand or his feet? or both?

  • did u notice no black hootiche mama,s danincing on this video

  • @slapjax28, it is actually hard to tell.

  • The missing tooth made Walker more soulful as he was not caught up in all the superficial appearance thing. This is the coolest as his original and stoic guitar player gets down with him. I love Jr. and had all his albums. I can remember a party after I came back to the world from Nam. His favorite hit album played for 2 solid days but no one cared as we were all in the zone. Wow that was a great party.

  • i wish too never dance like that....

  • @dogmanx88 Probably never could.

  • HELL YEAH!! White folks that can dance!!!LOL

  • I'am a white gal...but my god..these people could not dance a lick, and I grew up in this time, I never danced like that...lol!!!

  • Woahhhh.... I LVOE the right side go-go dancer , white dress !!

Excellent song, yeah, to burn calories to !

  • Who is the guitarist singing alongside Jr. Walker?

  • I am so mad, someone took off the black and white video, of, "What does it take to win your love" ..., jerk offs.

  • lmao white pp neva could dance

  • I wish I could dance like that

  • FunkSoBrudda.........It's interesting how the old 'Saturday Night Live' starring Steve Martin, John Belushi, Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, and all those fantastic others used this song 'Shotgun' by Jr Walker and Allstars. Those were the days........

  • four lopps dont know good music.......

  • wow.. that dancing was definitely somethin else. you could burn a hell of alotta calories doin that.

  • Comment removed

  • I was surprised when I first saw a Shotgun video. I wasn't aware there was a dance that went with it.

Being a self taught (but not very good) sax player, I love hearing that sax.

  • In the early 90's, someone tossed out...yes I said tossed out...the vinyl and I've had it ever since. My daughter was about 7 or 8 at the timeand she loved this song. I wish I still had a record player to play it but I guess watching it is just as good if not better.

  • I LOVE MOTOWN and this is definitive Motown Soul at its best!

  • etes incapable de la diffuser sans interruption le progres c kan

  • My fave oldie ever!

  • That girl on the right is AWESOME!!!!

She does the meanest"SPRINKLER" I have ever seen!!!!

  • THE BURNER! She needs a reality show! Go Burner!

  • Well I am still here after over 60 years and can dance circles around today's punks. They have no clue. They just stand there and shake like they got the trots (I am male) REAL dancing is FUN

  • I say, shoot him for he run, now.

  • I'd hate to be a cockroach tryin' to make it across that dancefloor.

  • That wife in the white dress is geein it big licks!

  • I wonder if anyone knew that most of those babes would look sexy dancin' like, almost fifty years later?!

    ;-)

  • I LOVE MOTOWN!

  • I SAID SHOTGUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!!!!!!

  • Great video, love this song ;-)

  • Did you know that these guys are from a little town in Arkansas called Blytheville

and this town has tons of talent that has not been discovered

youtube blytheville rappers or a-1 entertainment

  • I can't kep my eyes of that white girl inside the square. She's so white!

  • Pure energy...people REALLY enjoying themsleves with no hype or pretense. A timeless era for music.

  • Junior Walker was the shit....songs like this and "Snap and Fingerpop" were the bomb

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH omg my stomach... this is awesome...

  • Shoot the jerk, babe :D

  • LOVE the GO GO Dancers!!! They had a very inspiring song.. i cant blame um one little bit..

  • gogo dancers doing therething

  • Unlike most of the other acts on "Hullabaloo", Junior Walker and the All-Stars actually performed live in this clip.

If this clip is indeed from 1966, it was (around) a year after "Shotgun" topped the charts.

  • Ok I will say it-with all the grooming and finishing Motown was known for, how could they not have Jr's teeth fixed. The camera man on this could have taken a different angle. I do not understand. I guess Shotgun was one of their 1st hits. Still, this is raw and wonderful, thanks for posting. No intent to offend.

  • I SAID SHOTGUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN

  • Who made up all that good stuff about white folks not being able to dance?

All jokes aside, this really IS a GREAT clip. There's so much ENERGY here...energy in the playing and definitely in the dancing. The chicks kept up that pace from start to finish! Back in the day, I've been told people got out and danced like this in 30 minute blocks! THESE DAYS....(sigh), kids are lucky if they can two-step for two minutes without huffin' and puffin!

  • @Odawg96.....Kids today can only dance for two minutes without getting winded. Too many Big Mac / Large Fries / Supersized Milkshake combos....

  • @Odawg96 exactly...we preceded the Big Mac!

  • Why didn't Jr. Walker use a bass player? Anyone know??

  • @winpointmedia Back in the day, a lot of bands used ACOUSTIC bass. However, once music got amplified, the acoustic bass was easily drowned out. A lot of acoustic bassists were slow to embrace the "Fender"(electric) bass. HOWEVER, an ORGAN was a loud ELECTRIC instrument, and a GOOD organist could carry the bassline using the organ's footpedals AND chords, killing two birds with one stone (especially in jazz soul-jazz settings). One less guy to pay. That's what you're seeing and hearing here.

  • :45

I guess we now know what Carl Malone was doing before he started playing basketball for the Utah Jazz.

  • @ranhill yup I guess he was a different kind of all-star before the NBA.

  • these white chicks on meth r doing it

  • It always amazes me when it comes to dancing, women can do what the men do, but they can do it backwards, and in high heels.

  • Ha!!!!!!!!!!The lawnmower comment is just a riot...On the other hand, what a great dance tune...just grab a mower and cut it up .......

  • Don't laugh. That gal in the white dress is now somebody's mother and grandmother!!

  • @njdrumguy1 probably dead already

  • Straight outta South Bend City!!

  • I LOVE IT!!!!! lol

  • The film Misery based on Stephen Kings novel really made this song more popular in the 90's

  • The dude on the guitar looks like Wesley Snipes ...

  • @KeysLiveJr : That's what I immediately thought too lol

  • @KeysLiveJr : That's what I immediately thought too

  • Anyone under 39 looking to get into 60s Soul music should google Northern Soul venue... plenty of places in the3 UK, Europe and even the States. Still going strong.

  • The lady atop the pedestal on the right in the white dress, I bet there is no a lawn mower on earth she could not start.

  • @ranhill : HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @ranhill

    LOL.

  • @ranhill Sir, this is possibly the best comment i've ever seen. +2 internets for you

  • @ranhill may i please present to you, in my opinion, the best comment i have ever seen! LOL. hilarious man!

  • @ranhill or a chainsaw

  • @ranhill - thank you for the funniest god damn comment I have read in a loooong time!!! I almost peed my pants laughing. :)))

  • Just too cool- even now blows away all of the remix crap we hear on the radio!

Timeless magic. I wasn't even born when this came out but it's American music at its best.

  • Shoot the jerk baby, shoot the jerk now!

  • those dancers were all on speed.watch them great dancers

  • Great dance song. One of the best ever.

  • The white girl, the dancing one, is THE BURNER! cant stop laughing :D very cool.

the white girls CAN dance. U just have to go to the right playes, clubs ... f.e. techno, minimal ....clubs. love this music and they know how to dance :D i wondered but thats how it is!

  • @princenosiatajansen White dress looks like she is in a wood chopping contest, too hard and too fast, not much rhythm, Whole body jerking like a seizure. Girl in dark skirt is doing it right! Graceful, rhythmic swaying of the hips, nice upper body movement. Dancing just like I remember older siblings and cousins doing it. Believe me, white dress would have been laughed off the floor.

  • the white girl dancing is THE BURNER :D cant stop laughting :D:D

  • this song goes hard in American Me

  • The dancers were gettin down!

  • Not sure why some have to bring race into everything. Can't just enjoy a great song and video????

  • Without choreography, white folks can't dance like that, anymore, never could, but the chicks in the go go cages are doin' real well.

  • Why can't white folks dance like this anymore?

  • 2:33 , girl to the right doing a mean pony!

  • @Suzywriter The woman doing the Pony, yeah, she was pretty hyped the whole time. She was sooo into it, she was a little late for the choreographed dance scene @ 1:06 You can tell she really enjoyed dancing.

  • Ridiculous.Where are the black boys and girls on the dancefloor? I bet you would have seen the REAL THING going down. I wonder how Jnr.Walker and the All Stars REALLY FELT as they performed knowing that their black brothers and sisters were banned due to the laws of that time . I'm so glad that the white 'authorities' of those days are now dead and burning in hell or rapidly dying off.

  • @Umskiddy Naaaah...they are alive and well. They taught their children and those children taught theirs.

But these kids are getting down. Screw racism. Jamming is jamming.

  • @OldMotownFan If they're alive and well they should be well into their 90s and dribbling at the mouth and pissing in their breakfast cereal. And as for their children and children's children.. let's be thankfull that they no longer have the power to instill those cruel, inhumane racist rules. I agree jamming is jamming...I just think it's a crying shame that we do not have much footage of everyday black boys and girls strutting their stuff in the mid sixties.Thank god for Soul Train at least.

  • @Umskiddy I guess I kind of mussed that up. I meant that racists and bigots are still here with us because it is a legacy. They are just repackaged and rebranded.

  • @OldMotownFan Well, I'd rather them be here repackaged and rebranded if it allows people of all colours to be at one on the dance floor. It's just a pity that AT THE HEIGHT of great soul music (60s) we were not able to see a variety of evidence of how black kids moved. I know it would have been spectacular. Peace to you OLDMOTOWNFAN.

  • white chicks r on meth they r breaking bad on the dance floor

  • I saw Jr & the Allstars at The Cabooze in Minneapolis back in the 80's. That rhythm guitar player was like a metronome. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant all the way around!!!

  • lol gotta love the dancing!

  • Shotgun!

Shoot em befo he runs now!

Was the favorite song of our point man and his M870.

Rice Paddy Daddy. RVN 68 69

  • @Katoolie - Thank you for your service!

  • It's not that white people can't dance....these white kids in 1966 are just trying to be something that they were not at the time.....

  • you can tell that they were just enjoying the music

  • no lip synching here... This is live. Great musicians all round and a great tune

  • Boy, they looked like they were having so much fun... shaking my head wistfully...

  • As I always like to say, kids today don't realize hot much fun things were way back when. They can have all of their damned cell phones and whiz bang electronics.

  • @LesbianVampireLover yeah the white kids were having fun dancing and prancing around, but it was different for the black kids who were segregated from attending this event. back in the 1960s.

  • @kcatleticos Those were all paid dancers. No kids were allowed in off the streets. You weren't even alive then. Where do you get this stuff?

  • @rosmia2 i grew up in the 1960s, so i know whats up, all those white kids dancing had parents who were executives of hullabaloo so they got on TV, there was segregation back than didnt you know that from your history class ?

  • @kcatleticos

    twerp......lol

    youre owned kid....lol

  • If you know anything about the song you know the lyrics are telling the folks what dance to do. "do the jerk baby..."

  • white people cant dance for shit their weird dance steps dont go along with black music at all

  • @jon76398 the blacks kids were segregated from this event back in 1960s..

  • Great performance of a classic side...and those dancers are even more fun to watch than the group...5***** for each...:-))

  • now THATS a good tune with a one chord jam right there--aside from the organ lick going into four but soo much better than save a horse lol

  • Wesley Snipes on guitar?!? I'm really lmao!!

  • lol@frankiestage

  • even the choreographed dancers were great...they could actually dance, and you could see what a good time they were having while one of the great songs of all time was being belted out by an absolutely killer group

  • I was there back then. GREAT TIMES!!!!!!!!

  • Wesly Snipes on the guitar.

  • @dbdmack ...LOL!!
