A lot of people like to say how there are more skillful drummers but shit, one of the things that makes him stand out apart from his size is the fact that his playing has attitude. Its so catchy. Anyone can hole themselves up in a room for a few years practicing speedy drumming and get fast as fuck but that doesn't make them a good drummer.

Your point that all players are unique and that you can't effectively rank drummers may be valid, but to say that no drummer is better is just idealist propaganda.

Art or not, drumming is a technique powered performance, not to mention takes many hours and a certain spark that many people do have our aren't willing to put in. In short, some drummers are just better.

That said, Chad Smith, I salute you, you have style and class like few others do.

One of my favorite drummers. he deserves so much more recognition then he gets. Hes an awesome funk/blue/jazz drummer. i used to like heavy metal drummers mostly because of there fast pace footwork untill i really started looking at funk drumming and wow it actually looks more skillfull and fun to play.
