  • dmned, i screwed it up for like 5 times! can i buy yours or something? i kinda giveing up for doing it myself

  • Hey guys, not trying to spam this vid or anything, just trying to help, I posted a video response where I got a pre made nes usb controller for free, you do surveys and crap, annoying but it works, so it'd be cool if you look at it, its the first response.

  • How about 2 or more player support? If I plugged in 4 of those for those NES games with 4 player compatibility.

  • If u want to know how to get roms or emulators just go to coolrom(dot)com and everything Is there. I'll make a vid. Check out my Chanel in the next week and I should have it.

  • I feel like a dumb ass, I just bought a entire NES with games and I had no idea I could have just bought a controller for the PC that has all of the games on it.

  • Please help me!

I bought the object (the controller), plugged it in my PC, but where can I get the games to play?

I tried on nintendo8, but it works only with the keyboard.

Can I download megaman, super mario, etc, to play with my controller?

  • @awsomeguy1100 i know that. I was only inquiring on how to construct it. But I think I found it. ^_^ but it will be a while b4 I ever get to do it.

  • I bought a snes one online and how do you get it to work?

  • what emulator are you using?

    not like this ____________ |______|_|___|

  • thats pretty epic

  • ill buy one from you ill even send you one of my nes controlelrs

  • saw one on ebay like that...

  • just buy a replica retrolink usb controller. it feels just as good as the original, the only difference that ive noticed is that the usb controller is slightly lighter in weight than the original.

  • It'shs mee, Mariooo :D

  • I want one! :D

  • If you listen close, you will hear the music plays a bit too slow. Set it to PAL or NTSC, either way the other you 've selected now. I found this setting in a emulator, and the music speed is correct. But i like the way you made it in all one box ;-) nicely done

  • this isn't exactly a DIY video!

  • 0_0 Gimme

  • Made a couple of these and SNES ones and put them on eBay, nobody bought them.

  • I would like to have one, where do u live. Guess ur in the us? I thought about the shipping price.

  • well, now they mass produce them...so.....

  • id buy it!

  • You need to sell these!

  • Comment removed

  • cool

  • what exact mario title was he playing?

  • You're... kidding, right?

  • Mario 64

  • Just plain old

    Super Mario Bros.

    Thr first one.

  • can anyone tell me if u can play the emulator with a wired 360 controller and if you can how?

  • easy...download a nes emulator and go to input configuration in the options and map your keys...you can use a xbox 360 controller for snes9x also :)

  • yea you can, What i did was just plug it in and then when it says, "new device found, then do that search for hardware or like install it. let it load it will take like 5 minutes or 8 minutes and just look like nothings happening just be patient, then it should work from there. =D

  • Yes you can. you need to download the Microsoft driver software so that you can use the controller as a generic game controller. Most of your better emulators will allow you to reconfigure your controller layout to work with your games.

  • Depends on which emulator you use, but most emulators support gamepads, and i used my 360 controller with ZSNES, VisualBoyAdvance, FCEUX (NES emu), and others. it can usually be customized in the input settings

  • Where did you get the Nes emulator with all the games preloaded? Can u rapidshare it plz? Thanks

  • how did you do it?

  • Rainbow islands, bubble bobble and newsealand story are some of my alltime favorite platformers =D

  • hey u should do a nes controller giveaway man u would get so many subscribers even me

  • That is awesome great video

  • dude won't you get in trouble if you sell these? I mean the games are copyrighted :(

  • yes, he will if he gets caught

  • i think he will only sell the controller with the flash chip (maybe 1gb).later u can download the rom´s by yourself und load it on the controller

  • Do you have a list of the games that we can see some where? and about how much are you selling them for?

  • OMFG it works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want 1

  • I don't know anything about HouseholdHacker but the reason I used a usb hub was because with the Dell usb keyboard and a 4gig flash drive you have two usb connections and I didn't want two cords coming out of the snes controller, so I used a usb hub. The hub was a cheap ten dollar 4 port hub that I cut in half.

  • Yes

  • do u need a usb hub

  • ... No, why would you?

  • the household hacker vid says u do and i was just trying 2 figure it out

  • HouseholdHacker is a joke channel. Almost everything they tell you to do is a lie to get you to waste your money and break your stuff.

  • no it isn't! the thing with cleaning discs works!!!

  • Oh, well duh. But past that, most of it is a joke.

  • Pretty cool. I wish you success. ^_^

  • If it's possible to turn an NES or SNES pad into a USB HID recognized device, could it also be done to a Wii Classic Pad?

  • As many as you want as long as you own the original cartridges.

  • The games are built into the controller ? If so, I want one !!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • nice!

this is the most impressive one I've seen yet!

  • Oh a good program for keyboard mapping is called KEYHOOK.EXE I used it for some arcades controllers a few years back.

  • I built one with a snes controller and works perfect with both nes and snes roms. Im trying to find better keys to map the keyboard to for the next one. This was an awesome idea. If you make one, use a 2gig usb drive. I'm thinking of doing a playstation one. If anyone knows a good analog to usb interface let me know.

  • I want it

  • can u use it as a regular game pad for exsisting emulators

  • Hey Eddie, do you sell the controllers?

  • To all, sorry I havent replied to emails for a few months. I been really busy. Id really like to build a few more to sell but have been too busy. As it stands I have around 20 controllers waiting to be gutted and fitted with USB goodies. Ill keep everyone posted here and on my blog (see video description for link)

  • I'd be interested in buying one of these wonders. I have a question, how much would it be to get a SNES controller, but with both NES and SNES games on it? Do you think you can do that?

  • thats cool but useless if you wanna play other emulator than NES

  • yeah, i'd think the SNES would be the best if you were to buy only 1, but if you have the money, just buy a different controller for each system =P

  • Now all we need is a computer with every gaming console emulator ever created.

  • are the Games in the controller too ?

  • nope

  • fpsremy is wrong. The games are built into the controller. Read the description

  • How many games?

  • @eddyishere do a video of you playing battletoads with the usb nes controller :D

  • AS IF!! IV BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS FOR AGES!!

i saw it on tv for sale years ago but never got it stupidly.. it was a different control but the sames games.. if any1 knows where i could get one tell me!! or sell me that one lol

  • The one You saw isn't any good. It Claims to have hundreds of games But it is really like 10 games & they count each level as one friggin game !! What a GYP !!! I know because I bought one for My nephew. He played with it for a total of 3 days. o_O

  • That is honestly great. I wish I could make one.

  • that's a coiol smart idea, even if the nes era is a little over, wonderfull idea!!

  • oh its not over ... its just beginning haha

  • The NES era was and never will be over.

That was an era where GPU and CPU power didn't matter. That Era will live in all of us that grew up in that era live forever.

  • AMEN, ArchangelMerlin!

  • Where can i get that?

  • how would I do this with a premade USB SNES controller i'm going to order off ebay??

  • Yeah!

  • I read the blog. So it's basically a keyboard mapped into a NES controller right?

  • yes asshole, they are 'eligal' if you dont own the original cartidge. I take it that Jay is selling them with Homebrew ROMs or empty, not commercial ROM files.

  • I just saw mario bros on the screen. thats all I know.

  • its a program that u can download 2 play all your favorite nes games

  • where can I buy one!!!!!

  • I want some!!!!!!!!! OMG!

  • You could get in trouble for selling them with ROMs included, but if you just shipped them with empty flash memory and let the end user load it up, I'd guess that would be okay. Anyway awesome idea! Any chance it could be adapted to work with SNES controllers?

  • Wow! keep going!

  • Pretty sweet... but it doesn't seem like a good idea to sell them. Nintendo are Nazis about that kinda thing, especially since they're now re-selling games they sold 20 years ago...

  • @dmanuel08 no you can't say that they have invented the video game like those we know today without them it's would pop-corn and tv each day

  • Nice job man - simple and highly functional =)

  • sweet. i got one of those christmasy Saturn pads before lik-sang closed that's USB.

  • sell them

  • Your a genus I wish i could do that but be able to plug in to a tv, now that would be cool

  • I'm gonna do the same thing with my neogeo stick (certainly easy) and my virtua stick for cps1-2-3 & neogeo games (fba inside)

  • That sure is a nice idea, total NES gameplay just by plugging in a gamepad.

  • UPDATE!!! (23/7/2008): Ok guys... ive been getting bombarded with requests to make and sell these little suckers. Ill be looking into making a small batch of these soon and selling them on eBay. Ill keep you all informed.

  • If I see it I'll buy one.. even a SNES one if you could. God that's awesome. I'm trying to figure out how to do it but keeping it internal [N64 is next] as to just have the usb plug on the outside instead of a stupid adapter hanging off my USB port.

Keep up the amazing work man!

  • dude, that amazing.

    keep going guys!

  • i wonder if it would be possible to do this with an SNES emulator and control

  • The first one I ever made (Dec 2005) was a SNES one. But the keyboard controller was on the outside. The space inside the SNES is less than that of the NES, but still possible.

  • Can you do this to a genesis controller?

  • Bleh, I wish you could just buy one of these badboys :(

    Very nice work btw :)

  • That's fucking sick. Good job, dude.

  • hello ed,

can i buy off of you?

  • Sorry mate, im not making them to sell them. It takes a lot of time to make one. Maybe when I have some time ill make a few more. Till then, find a friend whos good with a soldering iron and get him to make one for you :) Check out my tutorial for it.

  • Wow verry nice

  • hahaah nice men and btw u pro in super mario :P

  • Check out the info on the video. Ive uploaded the tutorial to my blog. Enjoy :)

  • any way i can buy one

  • Guys, im preparing a tutorial for this. Will be available very soon. Stay tuned.

  • Very nice controller!! What emulator and autorun do u use? And where to get all games?:)

  • Can you post a tut and also the file that you put on your memory stick

  • Can you post a tut and also the file that you put on your memory stick

  • dont suppose theres a tutorial (easy way)

  • there is, check out the info on the video. my blog url is there

  • i have another idea, burn the emulator and roms on a generic cdr, buy a playstation controller to usb adaptor, use your old ps1/ps2 controller

    price around $10

your project is cool but way expensive.

my first project was converting a snes controller to the parallel port on the pc.

the only thing i bought are leads.

i have a used snes controller, some diode from a broken car remote and some old printer cable.

  • Ive since made 2 more controllers. One for player one and the other for player two. They can both be used at the same time without conflicts.

Player 1 - Has all games built in. Also is used to select the game and start without using keyboard.

Player 2 - No games built in. But has extra 2 buttons on top for save and load game.

    2 Player Bomberman FTW! :)

  • I don't see how this should cost you 150$

    Nintendo Controller: 1 - 10$

    USB Thumb drive 30 - 50$

Solder etc all under like 10$

  • NES Controller - $10

    Thumb drive - $50

    USB keyboard (for controller) - $20 - $40

USB hub - $25 (from local store)

TOTAL: ~$100 or so if you dont stuff it up.

Chances are, on the first go youll ruin atleast one of the USB devices, probably the hub. My first one cost me around $150 because of this. (notice how I said it would have been less if I didnt break so many parts!)

  • Cool wish I had 150$

  • oh yeah, i heard/saw about this controller. But the website i saw selling it said it was all sold out. That must mean everyone loved the NES/controller. I think it was made by Sawna. Even though i like getting Gamepads, i dont think i wanna get Nintendo fingers/cramps.

  • you know you can make one yourself. he didnt buy it he made it himself. it cost him AU$150

  • Ill buy one from you...

Seriously.... reply to my comment and let me know. =)

  • You can buy a retro USB adapter that you can

plug in any controller from NES Advantage to

the NES Max and Zapper. The best emulator is

    FCEultra that plays NES,Famicom,and Famicom

Disk games(with FDS bios for disk games)and

it 100% accurate in sound and graphics. Also

Wii gamers can hook NES and Super NES gamepads

to the Wii's Gamecube Ports with another type

    of adapter too.

  • WHAT ADAPTER IS THIS?!?!?!?!!??!!?

  • It's called a Retro Port.

  • Its not an adapter. Just a modified USB keyboard controller.

I guess the eastiest way to make one (and cheapest) is to not put in a USB hub and thumb drive. This means you dont get games built into the controller so you will need to carry the games with you on a seperate thumb drive (plus emulator).

This setup would only cost $40 or so and is much easier to make.

  • I want one so bad!

  • AWESOME!!!!!!

    I wish I had one.......

  • thankx -

    you did a great job

  • I'm gonna get a USB NES RetroPort adapter thing. I got plenty of NES controllers laying around.

  • FINALLY uploaded some pictures/tutorial.

    Check it out

    jawikunn dawt com

  • that's awesome

  • Wow, I know that it's expensive but I think there's a market for this. I know I'd pay to have or make one. BTW what emulator are you using?

  • One tip. Removing the USB hub and the USB flash drive from the equation makes the project MUCH MUCH MUCH simpler! It can be done in a couple of hours! But ofcourse you dont have all the games built into the controller, which sucks :(

  • awsome!!

  • OK, I have this thing just about figured out! I just have 3 questions. Did you us the usb keyboard to convert the controller to usb? If not then what did you use the USB keyboard for? and What did you use to convert the controller over? I can figure out just about any answer you can give me I just need the answer first to inspire the thought. oh and if I can get one working do to your help I will write the tutorial for you!!!

  • Yes, I used the USB keyboard to convert the controller to USB. I made new tracks on the existing controller board after removing the IC (by cutting existing tracks and soldering on new ones) and with these new tracks I wired them up to the keyboard controller. Each button = a USB keyboard keystroke.

The USB hub is simply used to have the USB keyboard controller and the USB flash drive plugged in at the same time.

  • Nice Video! But can u tell me where you got all the parts from?!

  • USB keyboard, USB hub (minimum 2 ports) and USB thumb drive with 512MB memory. Thats all you need! :)

Im looking to do a tutorial on this soon. Keep an eye out for it.

  • Make me one! Name your price!

  • btw, ive been asked if the controller is modified on the outside at all. It isnt, its completely standard with the only thing that is different between an original controller and this one being the USB plug. :)

  • Hi all, ive been getting some requests for a tutorial for this mod. I wont be making a tutorial any time soon as its too complicated and will take too long; but I did take pics of the whole process and when I get some spare time ill upload them and link them in this video.

    Thanks for the comments! :)

  • dayum

  • Hi. Cool mod. Do u have a tutorial on how to make one? Would like to do it myself.

  • love!!!!! the mod man! umm where u got the games from to put in the controller and into the memory stick?

  • google them :)

  • wtf where did u buy that

  • read the video description mate, i didnt buy it, i made it. you cant buy something like that due to the copyright infringements.

  • Nice but a bit 'computer nerdy' I must say!!!

You need some new hobbies... Try wearing womens.... ummmm never mind... :)
