Your so-called "ideal hopper doesn't seem very ideal to me! The material in the tube near the front wall is discharging around half the speed, and if you look at the particles near the top of th efront wall they are hardly moving at all.
This geometry looks similar to that proposed by Henk Colijn, but we have never found it to be satisfactory. Your front wall should be steeper!
