Yeah, it's a good one, kind of acoustic. It's from the MySpace Transmissions. They did this along with acoustic type versions of Emma, Love Love Kiss Kiss, and I think that's it...could be another one though
God only knows when they'll come to Ireland again. And even then I'll only be able to see them if they play in Marley Park. And even then I've never heard of anyone playing thee more than once =(
It's called "Cut Here". There is another song called "Cut" from The Cure, but it isn't a single and it has no official video. The song "Cut" is from the Wish album. "Cut Here" is not on any studio album, only on the Greatest Hits.
this is an amazing song.... i just wish it didn't bring back a weird time to me... the weird thing was- i was high, ate 3 lbs of pizza rolls then watched Cure music videos- this one made me motion sick... so i got sick... i think it was the 3 lbs of pizza rolls though.... damn good song though
Lead singer Robert Smith is singing about regret, wishing he could go back and make things right, but it's too late. The specific person in the song is his friend Billy Mackenzie, singer of the Scottish New Wave band "The Associates," who committed suicide in 1997.
to me about the loss of a loved one. and its comforting in an odd way. I love this song. it rings true.."i miss you, i miss you, i miss you so much,,"
12 years ago Billy MacKenzie took his own life,a combination of self disbelife, depression and heartbreak at the loss of his mother.
Unknown to many Billy along with the Associates made some of the finest songs to come out of Scotland.Very well respected by other artists and much missed by those who knew him.
Tonight I raise a glass and light a candle in his memory as I sit here listening to the music be blessed us with.
this made me cry, famousdave and i sorta had the same thing happened. but my best friend just moved far away, and their were so many times i blew him off to do other stupid shit, man I dont think I'll ever forgive myself for that..
Robert wrote this after kind of blowing off a friend he had not seen in a long time, only to find out a couple weeks later that that friend had died after that.
i recently lost a good friend and this song means alot more now.
The song is about singer Billy MacKenzie,Robert has never got over it
Billy was a great troubled singer, breaks my heart to hear this song because is says EVERYTHING that people who knew Billy feel about his passing,r.i.p the Voice of Velvet
This was thought as their last song, but fortunalety it wasnt.
It is funny, I'm born 1992 and unitl 1992 they had their best songs. (or the ones that I like the most like Boys Dont Cry, Lovesong, Friday Im In Love, Just Like Heaven, A Forest etc.)
No offense they are a great band, the only band I like from the 80s, they are creative, with a special sound. But I prefere their 'older' stuff (-1992) more.
the cure modernized, sometimes I think the anciet cure much better, but everything and everyone have to change one day, what cares is that they are keeping their quality, and it is lacking nowadays
Why they allways have crapy videos, its a great band and all, but all the videos they have are not that great, its like depeche mode, great songs but crapy videos (or maybe its just me)
Their new videos may be lame, but their older ones are some of the greatest videos ever made. Pictures of You, Lovecats, The End of the World, Lovesong etc are great IMO.
Yes, it's about Billy Mackenzie, singer for the Associates
"Oh, come and have a drink with me
Sit down and talk awhile"
Oh, I wish I could and I will
But now I just don't have the time
And over my shoulder as I walk away
I see you give that look goodbye
I still see that look in your eye"
I read somewhere in an interview with Robert, that Billy was wanting to talk to him about something, but Robert was too busy in his career. Thats what those lyrics are about..never saw him again.
well maybe it's urban myth but William It Was Really Nothing was said to be about Billy but some argue this. ALthough, The Associates did do a song called Stephen, You're Really Something. Both misspelling the names.
Siouxsie did a song called: "Say" with The Creatures I think."I heard the news today, Billy's gone away.."
And yeah, this was originally going to be the cures last song. I think he wanted to end this career because he's lost touch with friends/family (Billy for example) and yeah, the song is soo much sadder when you know the whole meaning behind it. =/
Oh and if ya didnt notice, if you rearrange the letters in "Cut Here" you get "The Cure"
god. this is a great cure song! they all are. duh. but man i really just love something about it though...its so sad. i mean, listen to the lyrics! it breaks my heart!
It is sometimes so hard to find words to describe what you field for somebody, that lyrics like this helps a lot, Thanks again Rob, I love your talent.
this songs lush, more people should apreciate stuff like this coz its cool, rather than sad (although misery loves company, even in cd form), coz to be fair it puts things in perspective: stuff could be more hopeless, but fuck it:)
Haydn told me he thinks of me when he hears this. That makes me sad. I last saw him 31 years ago. I think of Mark when I hear it. I last saw him 2 years ago. Miss him, miss him
Even though I'm not a teenager just quite yet, another year, i can defenetly relate to almost all of these songs. robert and i have a lot in common, appereantly. i think thats awesome.
I think i read somewhere on this comments that because he sang this song he was gay
? This song was about one of his best friends who died a short while after they saw each other on the street. He asked Robert to sit with him for some coffee and robert said he was busy. So he felt really bad..
There is nothing gay about this song. Whoever made that comment was obviously not listening to the emotion behind it. I lost a good friend and I didn't find out till a year later. I can honestly say that I know the driving factor behind this song. I am living it right now. It is a very sad song indeed.
I can relate to it myself, two years ago I lost my dog... she had been there since i was born and now I feel like I didn't love her enough, I took her for granted. It happened while I was on vacation, halfway around the world.
thats really touching but sad. i've been through that to with a dog. it was boy named tippy. someone stole him out side of our house. oh yeah, and my hampster too.
robert should never change anything, just keep giving us what he's feeling...be it 2008 or 2015, don't tell perfect to act like someone else! trent can do whatever he wants
Amazing song but makes me kindaa down.. makes me think bowt stuff.. "/ Still Beautifull song <3

I think i read somewhere on this comments that because he sang this song he was gay
? This song was about one of his best friends who died a short while after they saw each other on the street. He asked Robert to sit with him for some coffee and robert said he was busy. So he felt really bad..

That's so sad :(
I knew the song was about Billy but I didn't know he asked to talk to Robert before he killed himeself.
That would be so hard.
I do love this song.
Gorgeous.
